All the front my desk Customer Service ppl were AMAZING! Wonderful! But... the MAIDS WERE BEYOND FANTASTIC! I was a pain bc I slept in late! They still rocked it out gorgeously without a seconds notice! Omar and I love this place and he's been coming here for like 20 years. This is the fantastic place. It's wonderful. You'll love it. It's quaint. It's in the middle of everything right in the middle of the square there's food there's drinks there's casinos. There's everything within walking distance, it is so wonderful and I hope that it just keeps growing and growing and more businesses go in there if you wanna place to have a business go to Ponce the people are wonderful. We called and he sent out a local taxi for us (was $35, cash only). We arrived and quickly checked in. It went downhill from there. ATM withdrawal for the cash for the taxi? Machine fee was over $7 (like $7.45?!?!)!! Once checked in...the room was so dirty overall. Very patch wiped if anything. Either the air conditioning filter has never been changed or the rooms have never been properly deep cleaned after PETS staying. Started sneezing and eyes painfully itching uncontrollably almost immediately. Carpet was FILTHY as well -- we saw crumbs of random things by the desk and the room. My allergies got so bad I could barely keep my eyes open -- they were so bloodshot and itchy, I was crying and couldn't wait to be able to leave. Sneezing nonstop too. But by then it was past 1:30 AM already -- hotel is on a high isolated hill and no transportation nor lodging options nearby. To get ready for bed and crash so the nightmare could finally pass, I at least wanted to take a shower. Oh man, bathroom was even worse. I didn't dare shower. You can see the dirty tub and toilet in my photos here. We were so exhausted and upset at that point we didn't even take other room photos. No breakfast included on a Holiday Inn - also new to us. We left as soon as our tired bodies allowed us to. Took photos of the view on our way out. Sad, because the pool and area looked beautiful. Hotel had good bones too, but clearly bad management and NOT the IHG standard we are used to. We will never stay here again and will never fly into Ponce Airport again either. There's no good beaches around, the best part to me was la Guancha where the locals go to eat and drink by the water. The hotel was nice inside, with a tiny pool. Kind of hard to figure out how to get to your room or find the elevator, and no one even offered to help with my luggage. They have a garage but you pay about $10 a night to park. The room was nicer than I expected. Gorgeous view of the city and mountains from my balcony, huge plus. Pretty clean. Bed was decent, not very comfortable like many hotel beds. Not very big and the bathroom was awkward to move around in with a small sink area. I was supposed to stay 2 nights and ended up having to leave a night sooner. The staff was helpful and let me leave early with only a late checkout free ($35) instead of the entire charge for the whole night. The best part was to me that breakfast was included at the very cute little coffee cafe. It was delicious. Overall it's probably the best place to stay in ponce, which is not exactly a hip or modern place so you can't expect to be wowed. But it was cool to experience puerto Rico's second largest city.

The coffee store inside, Melo or something like that, was very good and hit the spot. Cons; very old, I had holes in the blanket, very loud at night since it is close to a couple of bars/clubs, and you have to valet park, it is really hard to find parking around. Also it was booked since there were many weddings ongoing so we got a handicap room, so the layout of the room/bathroom was uncomfortable. I would stay here again given the price and location...

The staff at night was rude flickering their fingers at you if they didn't want to hear your complaint. They have different rules according to your looks. The room was wet and very humid unless you kept the temperature at 55. We woke up soaking wet and grossed out. They have no ventilation in the bathroom. The room was dirty and the bathroom had mold. The rugs had stains that looked like blood and the lamp and tv did not work. I was charged $595 for three nights and an early check-in which resulted in them not making our beds...This was the worst experience we ever had in all the years of travel. I would give them 0 stars if I could. The front desk refused to give me a receipt and claimed they had to tweak my bill! They overcharged me and undercharged my sister-in-law for the same stay. This hotel needs renovations and training of an unprofessional staff. No one deserves to have to endure this musty and unclean experience for the high cost. Please don't stay here ever!!!

My group and I just had the worst experience with this place. The afternoon staff were rude,…read moredisrespectful, withheld info about our accommodations, and actively targeted us with differentiated rule enforcement. I get that there's a lot of anti-tourist sentiment in PR right now because some mainlanders have been complete douchebags and jerks. And because of that, I spoke with group about being respectful, following all COVID-related rules, and being good guests. We'd been on the island for 6 days before checking into Caribe Hotel with absolutely no problems whatsoever, until we got here. When we arrived before check-in, they allowed us to store our luggage in a meeting room. However, when we went back later post-check in my group was yelled at for going into the room (with the staff member there) because "we can't have this many people in the room". This was after my group was yelled at while quietly waiting against a wall in the lobby while I was getting the room keys, being told, "We cannot have this many people in here! You have to leave!". On our second night there, we came back into the hotel from dinner and the same staff person yelled at the group for forgetting to do the temp check and hand sanitizing. Again, we had no problem doing it - but the staff person's tone and volume were as if we had intentionally forgotten to do it. Here's the thing, though - I personally observed many people not wearing masks in the lobby, doing the temp check and sanitizing, and none of them were yelled at like we were. The kicker was the fact that at no point during our stay, until I called on the second night, was I informed that we were provided free breakfast as part of our stay. I even heard the same staff woman tell others that they did, but she never said anything to me. I checked my reservation, and there's no mention of it, so I figured that we didn't get it with our rooms. But we did, and we were never informed. That's breakfast for 20 people that I didn't have to buy for them elsewhere. The pool water was dirty and cloudy. The rooms looked like they hadn't been updated since the 60's. The location was out in the middle of nowhere. The one star is for the morning staff, who were kind and helpful. I would highly recommend NOT staying here.

They allow you take pictures with the decor, if you're lodging there is a hotel in the back and the rooms are on the second floor away from the public. I definitely recommend stopping by for the atmosphere. Fun cute spot in the center of Ponce.

On a Monday night, they held a Karaoke night, blasting music on the first floor (this is a 2 story building, opened in the center) until midnight without any mercy for the guests trying to sleep. When we called the front desk, they just told us that the music would be on only until midnight (what? On a Monday night?). I was staying there but not necessarily on vacation (family illness emergency stay), so not everyone comes here to party. You might think, buy why stay there? Originally, we booked the Melia hotel (a bit more quiet given the situation), but the room was so run down that we asked to be moved (both hotels are from the same chain). Not recommended, this hotel needs a major overhaul.

Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Stood in Ponce for two nights and I was not looking for the ritz Carlton but something somewhat ok. Room was clean which was great, air conditioner works somewhat. Now here is where it gets interesting. While showering it was small outdated and had mold and mildew. I can see past that, but once I stepped out of the shower I didn't realize that the water was dripping on the floor through the door and I almost fell. Thank god I kept my balance. Strike 1. Strike 2 was coming out of the bathroom to hear my son say mom I just killed a roach!!! Throughly disgusted I started searching the room for any other bugs. At this point it's 3 am and was beyond exhausted from the drive from San Juan. I said to myself that I would speak to the front desk in the AM. Knowing how exhausted and cranky I was if I dealt with it then it was not going to go well. Strike 3 the walls are paper thin. I could hear conversations from the couple next door. I wanted to give my input that's how clearly I heard there conversation. Strike 4. Most hotels include parking for free to any hotel guests. Upon check out I realized that was a separate price and ended up paying 23 for two days. Something not adding up most hotels on the island have parking for the guests free of charge? Would I stay here again, mmmmmm. Maybe if I had no choice. For the price your paying for the location of the hotel not the accommodations. I give this hotel one star for the workers who are understanding, nice and Do the best that they can with what is given to them. Plaza needs to get their act together especially being located right across the street from the parque de bombas.

One complaint is that the bathroom floors hadn't been cleaned well as there was...splatter from the prior occupants by the toilet O_o Our room had a small deck and you could tell our room apart from everybody else's since we all silently agreed that we must all dry our clothes at the same time on the deck. NOTE: they don't have laundry machines here and weren't sure where the nearest one was but they offered to wash our personal beach towels (not clothes) which was really nice of them! The hotel lobby/main area + restaurant, the parking garage, and the hotel rooms were all different buildings (don't forget which floor you park on.) And it's connected to a casino! I gambled and lost. Thanks, Obama. I'll review the restaurant separately. If you've got a gaggle of people to cram in one room, this place will do!
