I was greeted by a very friendly waiter who told me to sit anywhere. I chose a table outside next to the railing overlooking the sea. I ordered some mussels to start and a fish stew for my main course. I ordered a glass of local dry white wine. The wine and food were outstanding. The waiter took great care of me as I dined alone in this amazing setting. I imagine in high season this place is crazy busy, but on a beautiful March day it was a stunning, tranquil and breathtaking view with delicious food to match.

There is indoor seating as well with quirky decorations everywhere. The price fix menu for lunch was 23E, including bread and water, 2 courses and dessert. I had a fig salad, salmon with rice, and cream Catalon....all beautifully presented and delicious. Reading another review someone mentioned the lack of multilingual service. I'm not sure why anyone would expect any server to speak several languages. I am traveling with my small dog, barely speak any Spanish, let alone Castilian Spanish, and I ordered food just fine and received excellent service! I highly recommend El Pati!!!

The menus were always of high quality, but over the years there was no developement to see, that the management of the hotel/restaurant was trying to improve the service so that international guests with minor spanish knowledge feel more welcome. After reading a comment from 2009 in another forum, the service even seems to have decreased in performance I will for sure visit this lovely place a fourth time, but will watch closely, if the critics may be right. But on a nice summer evening there seems to be no better place for a nice dinner in Catalunya

When the Parador de Aiguablava came up, he asked me if I minded that this Hotel was a modern building and not a former Castle or Convent. I admitted that this barracks-like alabaster structure was a little boxy. However, when Gayle and I considered the magnificent Costa Brava views, the superb service, and the surrounding beaches and sights, it doesn't get much better than this. In fact, the only compatible Parador experience on this trip were the amazing Mountain views at their facility in Vielha. Gayle would also go as far to say that she would have given up a day in Barcelona to stay here longer. This modern Parador is a superbly located hotel on the Punta D'es Muts and is surrounded by pine trees overlooking the sea. The Parador maximizes its cliff-side perch with large windows everywhere, including the Restaurant/Breakfast Room, Lounge, various sitting rooms, and even the business meeting area. We spent a lot of time on our room balcony just relaxing and taking in the view. There's also an ocean-side Lounge were we did the same over cocktails. The Parador also operates a separate restaurant and beach in a cove below. However, it was October and that was closed for the season. This is also the perfect place to venture out and enjoy the area's beautiful beaches, cliff walks and explore the coves in a gorgeous natural environment.

The pool has full service straight from the great restaurant and complimentary towels and lounge chairs. When one cannot make the great complimentary breakfast the staff will create a nice picknick basket any time of the evening or morning. The rooms are very nice with a/c and a small kitchen. The housekeeping is great and even did our dishes one day after we had forgotten to do it. Now the best part. We enjoy good food and while we also explored many restaurants in the area and neighboring towns, the restaurant 'catamaran' in the hotel actually trumped all of the restaurants we visited (and often drove 30-45min for). Their menu is not very large but their daily three course menu-del-dia can hold its own with some Michelin star level restaurants. It was different every day and all nine options between starter, main and dessert were great. On some days we enjoyed both lunch and dinner from the same menu! Parking was very good too. Enough space in their own covered area so we never had problems finding a space. Did we not like something? Not really...and I realize it makes this review almost too good to be true... Located on a hill with views to the sea, the town has old buildings, winding streets, the old church and the mandatory castle -:) The town has lots of good dinning and shopping options (Marcy is a professional and she says the shops are very good). The hotel is just off the square so you can walk every where in town. The hotel has 12 rooms. Our room was nicely decorated and sized for 2. I really liked the black out metal shades (push a button and they slide down). Before you book a room, note that the staff speaks limited English. Unless you speak Spanish, you will need to take the lead on planing activities and where to go to dinner. We enjoyed doing that our selves (we chatted with locals and fellow tourists for recommendations). The hiking it great near by and of course the many beaches - enjoy, we did!
