Hotel La Rose is a charming little hotel nestled within Downtown Santa Rosa. We checked in around 3:30 at the front reception and I requested to have a quiet room. The manager originally had me on second floor of their hotel but moved me to the top floor of the carriage house next door. He was very accommodating and I appreciated this change. The carriage house room was spacious and had a lovely big marble bathroom. We had a balcony too and great perks like a coffee maker. The beds were comfortable and the comforter was beautifully soft! The room was quiet and I didn't hear a peep outside. I think it's mostly because of the double pane windows. There is a railroad very nearby, but I didn't hear the trains. The location of the hotel is convenient as you find yourself next to tasty eateries. There are coffee shops nearby and tons of restaurants. This is our first trip to the Sonoma Valley and we decided to stay here, in Santa Rosa. We selected this town as it was nicely located, centrally to most wineries, the Armstrong Forest, and Bodega Head Bay sites that we wanted to see on this trip. This particular hotel is decent and located right in a historic downtown Santa Rosa. The young girl who checked us in was great, very helpful and friendly too. The property has different buildings, the main building where we checked in and their gated building, which is slightly newer, though still very old and dated. Our room was somewhat comfy. The bed was just ok for a nice night's sleep, but one of us woke up each morning with a sore back from the softness of that side of the bed. The fixtures in the bathroom were very dated with gold faucets and towel holders, dark green marble tile, and very old layout/design. The room as a whole wasn't very symmetrical and put together cohesively. It was poorly lit and had an analog (dial type) thermostat which controlled a very loud HVAC system. The windows were single pane and let all the sound from outside in, so we heard all the various trash trucks, delivery trucks, loud vehicles, trains, etc that went by all day and night. Housekeeping did a decent job, but the towels were on the thin side. There was no fridge in the room. Parking was somewhat nearby, across the street in a private lot. Like I said, it's close to everything in the area, either walkable or central via car to drive to. Would I stay here again? Nope. At least not until they refurbish and update it. read more

We stayed on the fourth floor in different rooms over the last 2 months. Both times the wifi was so weak that our phones would not hold the signal for more than a few minutes if they could find it. Yesterday I complained to the front desk and was informed that their two wifi boosters were already in use. So they know there is a problem and can't. be bothered to fix it. I wanted to stay in this vintage hotel. When I called they said the room I was booked into was in the "carriage house". Sounds good, right? No. Kit was across the street in a completely modern building. Nothing remotely vintage about it. When we checked in we were met by "The Ice Princess" , who barked at me for standing at the wrong side of the desk. She never smiled once and behaved as if she was doing us a huge favor for taking our credit card and checking us in. Not a good beginning. This place is haunted. Looks haunted, feels haunted, we woke up at 2am to the hot water blasting and the mirror fogged. Great location, only .5 mile walk to down town. Lots of great shops and restaurants near the hotel, cute little vintage district. There was a used bandaid left on the shelf in the shower. It was neon orange and up where the soaps were displayed so maybe the person cleaning was really short and didn't see it... still a big turn off. Room was otherwise clean, they gave us ice and free water but no fridge on site so we threw away a lot of leftovers. read more

We stayed here over the weekend while in town for the Santa Rosa Marathon and had such a great experience! The room was impressively spacious and the bathroom was just as roomy. The bed was also incredibly cozy, which was a huge plus after race day. Conveniently located near downtown making it very walkable to restaurants and events. The only small hiccup was at check-in when we were offered a mini fridge that would be brought up the next day. We agreed, but unfortunately it never arrived during our stay. Not a dealbreaker by any means, just a little detail that would have made the trip even more convenient. The "accessible " room isn't accessible as it has a n average tub to step over and the toilet isn't raised. There's no fridge or microwave. The porch light can't be turned off and there are no shades for the window. The bed is too fluffy. I had an awful night sleep. read more

We had such a nice four day stay here! The beds were comfortable--really nice. The shower was strong and hot. The room was spacious. It was just so lovely. We stayed in the carriage house so we had our own little sitting area outside. The common area was lovely too with roses and a small fountain. It was great for reading or just relaxing. Hotel La Rose is a great place to stay. It is in walking distance of the train station as well as a coffee shop and many other restaurants. Overall, we really liked the area. There was a nice park in the middle of town. The night we stayed, they were having a Wednesday night summer market with popup food vendors, a craft beer garden, and live music. We stayed in the carriage house. It was really nice with a locked gate and a patio in the middle. The room was a nice size and very clean. The dressing area next to the bathroom was also very large, and there was plenty of room for two people to get ready at the same time. I would definitely stay there again. read more

Parking is an extra 15 bucks a night in a lot across the street. The cable boxes dont seem to be calibrated to the TV sets so every movie I watch is cropped on all 4 sides No usable internet for laptops in the room, I can get my phone online...but thats it. No elevator 4 stories, very creaky stairs, and weird "soft spots" at the top of every set of stairs where the floor seems slightly angled, so that if your not careful you might fall down the stairs. Built in 1905, yeah? Why is it still standing? Should have been torn down for a newer, more modern hotel years ago. read more

We stayed for one night and we have no complaints. We were on the fourth floor and there is an elevator so we used that for our luggage. The staircases are beautiful though. It's a really pretty hotel. We slept great, no bugs and it seemed clean. Shower head is kinda funky, it's older style so it doesn't spray the water evenly but it works. Toilet has an overhead pull handle so that was kinda fun to flush lol. Parking is $15 across the street and they give you a permit. Area was quiet and safe at night. read more

The hospitality provided by the front desk agent (Alison) was fantastic! Alison made the process of checking in and parking easy and stress free. I was greeted with smiles and friendly conversation. This was the perfect place (the Carriage House annex) for our group of 24 to gather for three days. Working with Tom and Pablo was easy and delightful to sort out ground floor/second floor needs (no elevators) and meet other needs. The rooms wrap around a courtyard that was perfect for gathering and talking before dinners a block away. I had a second floor room with a small balcony and good sized room. We held a day of talking in the small conference room which was perfectly sized for the 14 of us involved. I look forward to staying in the main historic hotel next time. read more

Update the hotel! And let the guest park in the parking lot rather than the hotel workers. First room smelled so bad & nasty we had to tell them but all they did was bring the temp down to like 62 degrees hoping the smell would be masked! But no still reeked! And mind you we paid more for this room since it was a suite. We then asked to be moved and we were accommodated but now the shower did not work! So once again we had to contact the front desk so they could come out and fix it! Another quest had the same problem with the shower. The shower faucet/handles are so old they are breaking. The pictures make this hotel seem really really beautiful! I do have to say the manager refunded a nights stay after I left 5 messages and finally somewhat of a nasty message for him to finally return my calls! read more

The beds were comfortable and our room & bathroom were spacious. The parking is across the street in a public lot (they give you a permit so you aren't towed) but it made getting luggage to the room a bit of a hassle. At night the neighborhood seems sketchier than the day. Loud landscaping equipment fired up in the courtyard outside our room at 8am. read more

Wet nice historic hotel in a revitalized area of Santa Rosa. This hotel was built in 1907 and has the main building as well as some carriage houses across the street. Service and communication are wonderful. Building is secure and they have parking across the street from the carriage house rooms. Bar restaurant in the building and a coffee shop across the street as well as a visitors center. Nice shops to walk just around the corner as well. The hotel is clean, in a nice area and the rooms are large. You're within walking distance of restaurants and quiet transportation. What I'm most fond of are the people who run the hotel. I was planning a surprise birthday party for my dad's 85th and had requested that the hotel not take my Dads' reservation and Pablo told me he didn't have a reservation for my dad, but if it did come through, he would call me. I was surprised that he followed through. As it turned out, my dad made a two night reservation, which would've meant I'd have to go into his room and gather his belongings in order to not have to pay for a second night when my daughter had already gotten him a room elsewhere. When I spoke with the manager, Tom, he was also very understanding and explained that legally that wouldn't be allowed. I really appreciated Pablo for caring enough to call me back regarding my dad's reservation and I could also tell that Tom needed to go by the rules, but both men came with heart. These days I'm more used to people being concerned about their own pocketbook instead of their customer. The best gift I can get on my 42nd birthday is hanging out with my toddler, eating tasty food and resting at a nearby comfortable, clean and spacious hotel. Hotel La Rose provided that kid friendly luxury travel experience as it was so close to all the restaurants I wanted to eat at in Santa Rosa including Augie's French and Grossman's Noshery which is attached conveniently to the hotel. The manager and staff were so friendly and professional. I asked what their most kid friendly room is for 3 and they suggested the Carriage House Queen Double room which was perfect for us especially because it had a super clean tub where I could give my kid a bath. The room has a modern interior and had the necessary amenities such as usb charger, alarm, Keurig, tv, hair dryer, etc. We had room 58 bottom floor and it had its own gated patio seating area that was so cute. The hotel's private parking is conveniently across the street as well as an amazing cafe. We will definitely be back! PS mom brain made me forget my room keycard in the room but it was super quick to get another one as they had someone at the front desk 24/7. read more

The service was great. I didn't know when I made the reservation that I was actually staying in the annex portion of the hotel and not in the main building. Nightmare hotel stay!! See photos as proof. Tried to upload a video, but only able to upload screenshot photos of the video... This was a booking from Monday through Friday with Hotel La Rose. Every night, there were MAJOR hazardous problems. We are people who believe in kindness, so we gave them many chances and allowances to remedy their mishandlings. What we were constantly met with however, was rude, hurtful accusatory management. We were told the first night to ignore the fact that there was a mildewy musty odor and that the air conditioner did not work, and any leaks in the bathroom were nontoxic. All rooms were booked and we were completely exhausted, so we had no choice but to stay there. But by the second night, the leaking that we alerted the hotel about had exploded from the bathroom ceiling to the bedroom area ceiling, onto the tiles, the carpeting, bed, toiletries, food and clothing. Brown mildewy water was everywhere! The odor was absolutely overwhelming. We were up way past midnight, trying to figure out a safe solution. But the hotel staff ended up putting us into a room that was marked as "Out of Commission." That was our final room there. That room had a faulty TV, along with strong musty odors and faulty plumbing as well. We ended up having a very hard time breathing, with ear nose throat problems brought on directly from the toxins encountered at Hotel La Rose; causing us to be rushed to an urgent doctor appointment the next morning. We are people who are very familiar with the California health codes for hotels and hospitality establishments. Hotel La Rose in Santa Rosa is in direct violation of several health and safety codes. OSHA inspections would lead this case to possible litigation and a shutdown. We also slipped and fell on the flooded bathroom floors, as those particular tiles are too slippery to hold people steady when wet. The list can go on. You will see extremely clear and obvious photos to prove the health and safety violations. Again, we were very patient and kind in all of our interactions. We had asked for the same in return. But never received a single apology from management, let alone a full refund --which would have been the least that we would have done if it were our business. Look closely at the photos of the moldy ceiling fixtures. You will see the dripping coming from there. This hotel is historic and beautiful in many ways. We had such high hopes! But it was bad from beginning to end. Very very sad. read more

My girlfriends and I came to stay at Hotel La Rose for a girls weekend. This was a perfect hotel and gave us exactly what we were looking for: a clean safe place to stay the night that was within walking distance of food and drinks! There are two parts to the hotel, the older building which was built in 1907, and another separate building that is more modern and has updated rooms. We stayed in the more modern building across the street, which was quaint and have a cute courtyard with a nice fountain and flowers. We stayed in room 58, which had the most comfy beds and pillows I have ever experienced for a hotel stay! We visited a nearby bar and an Italian restaurant, all within walking distance making it super easy to just enjoy your stay. I would definitely stay here again. It was a lot of fun. read more

This is the email I sent to the hotel on 11/19 after our stay (no response as of yet 12/2). I just sent a follow up so we'll see if they respond to that one. I'd skip this hotel. First, I'd like to say that the staff who checked us in/out were extremely polite and friendly. The decorations in the lobby were cute. Unfortunately, I cannot say much good about our room. We checked in (again, very pleasant) and quickly went to our room (50) to drop our bags before heading out. Upon opening the room, we noticed it was stuffy and smelt kind of stale. Turned the A/C on hight and turned around out the door. We spent just a few minutes before heading out. We didn't return to our room again until 9PM. The room was still stuffy....not sure the air conditioning actually did anything? Turned that off. We quickly noticed ants in the bathtub and on the towels on the tub. Then as we were changing I noticed black stuff on the bottom of my jeans...more ants. We looked closer and found ants all over the floor starting in the sink area. It looked like they might have been coming from a crack in the grout. Wonderful. Then when we got into bed, the pillows were awful. They are so lumpy. I suggest you go feel them yourself, they were nothing like what is shown on your website. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were shocking. The hardware in the shower/bath are heavily limescaled. There was a light in the bathroom that stayed on the entire time because the circular switch didn't work. This room simply did not meet expectations. Your website lists these rooms as "renovated", "luxurious marble baths" and "plush linens", I'd beg to differ. Truly disappointed with the price point we paid...almost $300 is insane. I could not recommend this hotel. When checking out, I was unable to use the online check out. The woman at the desk was very apologetic about the ants and the system being down but did take my information to check us out once able. I've included a couple photos. I hope you can take the time to address these issues because what is shown/listed on your website is not the product that I received. I feel bamboozled. read more

Great location in downtown. We stayed in units across the street from the main hotel. Nice gated area with good restaurants all around the block. Room was clean and comfy with amazing beds! Would definitely stay here again. Our stay was only $140 with a parking spot across the street. read more

Booked this hotel for my birthday weekend and totally didn't realize it was haunted To my surprise our room was upgraded to the Carriage Junior Suite which is in the building across the street from the lobby. There are no elevators there. The room was very nice; however, the AC is super loud. It's also right by a busy street so you hear a lot of traffic since the door is not sealed properly. Loved the deep tub, but the spa jets were dirty. After running it, it left brown residue in the tub. We saw stars from the large windows in the high ceiling since we were on the second floor. Downside I hope you're an early bird because the light will shine through and wake you up since there's no curtains on one side or at night the street light will shine through creating a huge night light. It was a nice location as it's close to all the little shops and restaurants. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. I'm glad I picked a Carriage room and did not stay in the main hotel. read more

Since Santa Rosa is my hometown, I've always wanted to stay here. Having lived in San Antonio for the last 34 years, a visit here was the perfect opportunity to stay here. The room we got was nice and spacious. The location right in the center of Railroad Square is terrific. However, there are some negatives. The water pressure in the shower is ridiculously low. Some mornings there's hot water, some lukewarm, and some cold. The bathroom sink has some serious cracks. The room is cleaned daily and towels exchange only upon request. I was told the reason for this is due to Covid which is no longer an issue. Missing from the room which typically is present in hotel room are a small fridge and microwave. Needless to say, there is no way to return from restaurants with leftovers to be eaten later. Would I stay here again? Probably not. read more

This used to be a sweet local business that felt like an oasis in the city. It had become a must stop every time going through. Everyone was friendly and made you feel special when checking in. Unfortunately on the last trip I had booked a stay, I was given the tragic news my mom was put in the hospital. I called the hotel to cancel, and was told I would get a refund, but had to cancel through hotels.com as I had booked with them. This is where the games begin. I called the hotel and was told the refund would be approved, but when hotels.com called they were told that no refund would be approved. I has to go back to hotels.com and let them know who I spoke to that told me it was okay, but then hotels.com couldn't get ahold of them. This went back and forth for over a week till the hotel said that the date had already past and they won't refund. It was frustrating to be told one thing, then another, then have things dragged on on top of an already heartbreaking week. This hotel is great when things are great, but has zero sympathy and won't help in anyway if you need to seek a more personalized experience or help. read more

What a pleasant surprise with Hotel La Rosa. My husband booked the newer cottage so the beds were comfortable, the bathroom were clean and spacious and the neighbors were quiet. The only complaint was their were no fridges in our room. Luckily we didn't buy any cheeses or I would have been more disappointed with the chance of spoiling the cheeses. Overall, great place with affordable prices. We would stay here again if we are visiting the area. read more

The hotel is beautiful, and has charm. However, the bed I slept in was well worn, gave me a back ache. the water reservoir for the in-room Keurig coffee machine needs to be cleaned. I looked to put water in, and would not drink anything that came out of it. The parking is across the street for 15.00 but the area felt sketchy to me, and was not secure. I also do not like their customer service phone, I called trying to figure out parking, and there is no way to speak to a person. Over all it's clean and maintained and appears to have many places to walk to. But, I don't think I will return. read more

Old Hotel, 1907. Very cool, understand that the building is old. Embrace it or you might be disappointed. We love the history and care that comes with a beautiful building built in 1907. Marble bathroom, spacious room. We had room 48. A king size bed, large sitting area, desk and coffee (Keurig) machine. Staff is attentive, friendly, accommodating. Water bottles are complimentary. Elevator. Really neat historic downtown area to walk around. Deli restaurant attached is worthy. Try the wonderful French restaurant (la Gare) down the street. Reviews talk about homeless presence-streets are not scary but it is also Not a late-night party area. Train noises around 4-5am to be aware. Overall and A plus experience. read more
