My friends and I were meeting up in Berlin for a weekend and scored this beautiful room right off the Kurfürstendamm.
I flew into Berlin-Schonefeld and was battling a massive cold. I could have taken the subway but my lack of directions and cold combo would end up with disastrous results so I decided to cab it and handed the driver the address. It was about 11 euros which wasn't bad and was the first one to arrive.
It's a bit confusing at first because it's within an apt complex. After buzzing in and climbing the 2 flights of stairs with my luggage half my height; the woman at the front desk gave me the key and explained to me that she wanted cash payment upon checkout. It wasn't disclosed that we had to pay in cash when we accepted the quote but oh well. It was cold and dark and I'd discuss it with the girls later.
Once I saw the room, I was stunned on how beautiful it was. It was the largest room in the complex for accommodating 4 people. It had 2 full size beds, a flat screen tv, a floor to ceiling window, and off to the right side of the room was a sitting area with one large, white leather couch and two additional lounge chairs on each side of the glass table.
When you open the windows, it opens up to a little courtyard and you feel the cold, crisp air in the morning (or night).
Breakfast was complimentary and also surprised at the abundance of food provided. Usually food is limited to cereal or croissant, with milk or juice as an option.
I guess I'm in the grown up club now so they provided toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, cheese, fruit and coffee, juice, or milk (that I remember).
Overall, for the price we paid for this sweet room makes it one of the places I would consider again when I come back to Berlin. read more
