From the moment we arrived we were in great hands. Check in wasn't until 3pm but we arrived around noon, so they allowed us to store our bags in a private storage space. The attendant was so kind and encouraged me to take our time rearranging our stuff so we could explore comfortably. This was especially kind because we're traveling with a toddler. When we got back to check in into the room, we were surprised to see the crib was already in the room. While we requested it online, were used to having to ask the front desk at check in to make sure we have someone bring it up. This was another moment we felt the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The room had everything we could need, including air conditioning that worked really, really well! We stayed on the top floor & the weather was pretty warm so this made us feel extremely comfortable. The bed itself was comfortable too ans the whole room was very clean. They provided complimentary water and Nespresso pods -- oh and tea bags! There wasn't a fridge in the room (which we knew when we booked the space), but there wasn't a coffee machine and water kettle. The closet had a few hangers as well which was perfect. The location of this hotel is super convenient. We walked from the train station and it took about 20 minutes. It's located on a popular busy historic street right in old city. It was easy to walk around and find anything we needed while staying here. In the morning we were absolutely blown away by the complimentary breakfast. The spread was absolutely stunning and the space was so beautiful and peaceful. The staff offered a few types of tea and coffee drinks, including fresh cappuccinos. They also offered a variety of delicious fresh juice and still and flat water. Breakfast included a buffet and they even offered to make fresh fried or scrambled eggs with or without bacon. They also offered to make omelets fresh. As an American, this continental style breakfast was unlike anything I've had in the states. It was well worth every penny for the quality of service we were offered by the staff and the high quality of fresh food. I am so so so impressed. Everyone that works at this hotel deserves a massive raise or bonus. They were so incredibly kind and hospitable to my family and with a young toddler we never felt like a burden or inconvenience. We would stay here over and over again or visit another location in another city if they had one. Thank you to everyone that works here. You made such an amazing impression on us. Walking in felt like stepping back in time. I doubt much has changed about this place in decades, and that's entirely a compliment. We were seated near a window and the ambiance was everything you'd want, cozy, warm, and genuinely inviting. I loved the feel of it. Our server was very kind. Her English was limited, but she was gracious and patient as I attempted to speak German, and was generous enough to tell me I did well. It added to the charm of the whole experience. Now, the food. The potatoes that came with the schnitzel were the best German potatoes I've ever had. The schnitzel itself was delicious, exactly what you'd hope for. The cheese spaetzle was a highlight as well, rich and satisfying. Plan on sharing it. The one miss was the pizza my sister-in-law ordered, which was fine but felt out of place. Stick to the German classics and you won't be disappointed. Would love to return if I ever make it back to Heidelberg.

So we ended up asking the wait staff. We walked through the restaurant with our luggage to the the check in desk. Our room was comfortable and homey. The door required an old fashioned key to open. Their bread and butter and Seasonal Soup was a welcome treat after a day of travel. The main dish was this chicken leg that was perfectly grilled and served with Spatzle and sauteed vegetables that everyone continues to rave about until now. Dessert was this generous portion of fresh strawberries with chopped mint and served with vanilla ice cream. I am not a beer drinker but they serve their locally brewed beer as well. ( & there's still a working brewery ) Great location to hit the tram up to the Castle or to walk around the Old Town & it's especially close to the waterfront where the famous Old Bridge is Rooms were quiet which was a surprise, given our room directly faced the brewery / bar that was full of people late into the night. Beds were comfy. Nice water pressure There's an elevator for those schlepping heavy bags or who can't deal well w/ stairs We were directed towards a special parking lot for hotel guests as street parking is next-to-impossible to acquire Only minor complaint was that the room was super hot ....but we didn't think to open a window so shame on us. Also come to find out the next morning that they had had the heat turned on.....so mystery solved! Breakfast the next morning was a nice layout of breads & rolls, cereals, sliced meats & cheeses & they will make espresso drinks to-order. Their lattes were nice & creamy! Free wifi!

We were also upgraded in our room and were giving a large suite right above the entrance, which had amazing views of the water and old town Heidelberg. The room itself was quite large and had a full bedroom and lounge area and we really appreciated it. We also dined in the hotel restaurant for breakfast each morning and that too was lovely. They have a small gym behind the hotel, which has decent equipment and also great views of the city. This place is extremely walkable as well. You can walk out the door and be in old town or any of the famous sites in town in less than 10 minutes. Pricing is very fair for this level of quality hotel and I honestly would happily stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting town to stay here as well. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Bathroom was a good size, hubby and were able to get ready at the same time. Sauna was available for 5 euros but we opted out, apparently you can only go in butt naked. No thank you.... Breakfast was also good, upgrade from the typical continental breakfast you get from 3-4 stars hotel. Hotel was too dark for my taste, felt a bit claustrophobic.
