Heidelberg Marriott Hotel, Heidelberg, Germany The Heidelberg Marriott Hotel is located on the riverbank of Heidelberg, just west of the city center. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Eric checked me in quickly and thanked me for being a Marriott Elite member. He took the time to offer me a few different upgrades. In the end I chose the King room, balcony with river view. I rarely have a vehicle, but this time I did have a rental car. Parking is 25 Euro per day in their underground, covered garage. The room was screaming for renovation. The often-used wood areas of the furnishings were all worn down. The green carpet - well, I do not think I need to say anything more about that! The bed was hard as a rock, but the sheets were of good cotton quality as were the feather pillows. Without those quality sheets, this bed would have been very uncomfortable, as I prefer a softer bed. The bathroom was dark, and the wall tile reminded me of being at grandma's house! Aside from the decorative items, the room was very clean. The balcony was absolutely wonderful as the day I visited the weather was beautiful. I spent a few hours sitting on that balcony getting some work done while enjoying the view of the river. This property has a club level lounge for elite members. It was open until 2300 daily and had an evening reception with wine and beer. The lounge also had a large outdoor deck, also with great views of the river. The lounge attendant was very attentive. The food offerings were a bit bland, but the wine was good! This property has a very nice restaurant in the lobby and an indoor pool is also available. This property really tries hard with the hotel it has. If the rooms were updated, I could easily give this property a 5-star rating. For now, I will be rating this hotel with 4 stars. read more

This is quite the hotel located right on the Neckar river. Very large with a lot of conference room space. The restaurants and pub is very nice and all of the workers here are quite pleasant and service oriented. It's a little ways from Old Town. Heidelberg so be prepared for a bit of a walk, but all in all it's a very nice place to stay. read more

If you're a Marriott member or in my case Lifer, I do recommend staying at this Marriott. It's has the Neckar river as its backyard and trail. The parking garage is easy to get to and and close enough to the old town. It's walkable if your lifestyle thinks one mile or 1.6 km is a nice stroll on river or through the city street or both. The breakfast room is is very nice with plenty of options and fresh fruits. The customer service is 5 star. They fresh and free latte machine all day long for use in the lobby. The executive lounge has snacks, wine, bier and more (3 star). The hotel room is nice and clean and overall 3.5 stars. The staff is ultra friendly and speaks good English. I stay here every time I come to Heidelberg. I think you will enjoy it too. read more

We stayed here in March 2017 while visiting Heidelberg, Germany. It's close to the train station; within walking distance so we didn't have to take the taxi to the hotel. However, it's best if you take the taxi from the hotel to Heidelberg Castle when sight-seeing! :) The king size room was fine, and the views from the restaurant downstairs were very awesome, especially since it was right by the river. The staff were friendly too and helpful in getting us a taxi. We also ordered steak via room service and it was tasty! read more

A light variety Room 321 Room had all amenities But tub was very high ( approx thigh height and I'm 5'3) Had to be very careful getting in and especially out. I do not have any handicaps Also they gave my husband and I two twin small beds. One bed definitely had too much wear and sank straight down. May have been straw. Came here for a 2 night stay. The hotel is near the train station and is walkable, otherwise taxi fare will run about 8 Euros. Check In was efficient and I was upgraded to a suite on the club lounge overlooking the beautiful river. The suite was spacious and contained a king bed, living room and large flat screen TV. The club lounge is large and also has a large outdoor patio. We enjoyed the beautiful river views while enjoying hot and cold appetizers. Another plus was lthe wine and beer in was complimentary! The service at the front desk and entire hotel was accommodating and friendly. If you needed any assistance - the staff was spot on. I would return to this Marriott in a heartbeat. read more

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times over the years, but now we came back as a family of 4, to stay for a long week- end, kicking off our European holiday. As European hotels go, there are very few options to accommodate 4 people in one room. I want to stress the effort and time the staff at Marriott Heidelberg invested in ensuring our family could stay together. Though the room was not ready for early check-in when we arrived about 10:30 am, the ladies at the front desk put forth a focused effort to get us settled. By noon, we had a junior suite, with a king bed and a queen-sized pull-out couch, so we all could take a short nap, to deal with the jet lag. The concierge lounge at this hotel is charming and cozy: the breakfast buffet has nice choices of smoked fish, cold cuts, baked & dairy items, cereal, small hot selection, as well as beverages. Mid-day, you will always find some snacks and drinks. On a sunny day, it's great to have your meal or beverage on the deck, overlooking the river, observing boats and canoes slide by. The staff is very professional, dedicated, attentive, pleasant, and is always here to answer questions and help. They even helped me arrange for a long-distance birthday cake delivery, when my husband was traveling there on his b'day not too long ago. read more

Heidelberg, Germany; It kind of reminded me of a hotel room in the United States, and for the first Hotel off of the plane what a great place to stay. Staff was friendly and nice. The rooms are a good size. Bed was comfortable. Bath has all the amenities you need. And they had a coffee pot in the room!!! It also has a cardio room, an indoor pool, a bar, restaurants, and computer room. WIFI is available for a redonk price, but that is almost every hotel in Europe. If WIFI was free I would have given this place five stars, come on it's a Marriott! They needed free WIFI. Great Views of the river, and if you are on the top floor you can see the Castle! read more

The views!!! Ok I'm not sure how we swung it, Marriott Platinum, but we stayed on points and got hooked up in the best room. The views were incredible! Everyone was extremely friendly from the front desk, to the lounge staff, to guest services, to room service to the restaurant. We arrived a little later and it was HOT so we just went to the lounge and ordered room service. Wish we had gotten to explore a bit as it seems like a cool place. There was even fireworks that evening! Next day breakfast was really good! I'd stay here again, even in a different room :) read more

This hotel is well suited for those who don't mind some walking. Close to the main train station (5min walk) and not too far from old town and the castle (15-25 minutes brisk walk). Onsite restaurant has an American steakhouse theme. Too heavy a meal for when I'm traveling and there was little else on the menu outside of that theme so I generally avoided it. The onsite bar (Pinte) had some lighter and more German fare; a decent although not inspired spätzle was on the menu; the barkeep was quite friendly. Otherwise you'll want to venture out although options in the very immediate vicinity are somewhat limited. Of course normally you'll want to eat in old town or one of the other bustling neighborhoods of Heidelberg. But when it's pouring with rain or you've arrived back late from a meeting without much energy remaining, it's nice to have closer alternatives. The rooms are nicely appointed and things were up to expectations although water temperature was inconsistent depending on time of day and presumably other use by other guests. The onsite concierge lounge is a nice respite with very basic offerings (nothing to write home about) but a nice patio with views of the river. I took breakfast in the lounge and it was simple but amply sufficient. There is a fitness center onsite. It's on the ground floor a bit out of the way so takes some effort to locate the first time. Staff onsite were very pleasant to interact with. read more

Where shall I begin! I was not interested in my Europe travel to stay at a Marriott where I can do so in my country (US). And even the recommendation from the American Express travel agent I was still determined to stay in a old historical hotel but it never met our needs upon arrival. Either only had one room, or was without air conditioner or only single beds.....so we ended up at Marriott in Heidelberg and THANK GOD we did. Front desk staff was stellar, friendly, helpful and welcoming not to mention clean, beautiful hotel, air conditioning and great rates. We were pretty darn thrilled to be off the train and treated so well. It had such an amazing evening treated, good food and drinks we decided to stay another night. I cannot say enough good about this place. When we departed, I left a note for the GM with names of everyone who we encountered great service. Very personalized, the breakfast is out of this world. I love this hotel! Staff was friendly and nice. The rooms are decent size. Bed is comfortable. Bath has all the amenities you need. It kind of reminded me of a hotel room in the United States. The hotel offers group catering onboard of ships cruising the Neckar River. It also has a cardio room, an indoor pool, several conference rooms, a bar, restaurants, and computer room. The lobby is pretty big and they have several couches. I even watched a World Cup game in the bar between Spain and Chile. It was pretty chill and pretty relaxing. We had a buffet dinner at the Globetrotter Restaurant inside the hotel. I was pretty amazed at the selections they had provided. It wasn't bad at all. If you stay at this hotel, you have to try this restaurant. After dinner, you can just go outside the terrace and walk along the path and see an amazing view! Since the hotel is located by the riverbanks, you have an incredible view of the hills, he Neckar river and some of the bridges. It was very pretty especially during sunset. read more

The staff is very friendly. The lobby and the restaurant grill 16 is very nice. The sleeping rooms are over due for a renovation however. Everything in the rooms looks like it's from the 80's. Everything in the bathroom is very low and I am only 5'8". The executive lounge is nice and has a nice assortment of snacks and food. read more

Large hotel that succeeds in appearing small and friendly as you enter and leave. I managed to get through two rooms in one night as I'd already taken the chance to freshen up between my arrival and my first meeting. The first room was comfortable but bathroom fittings were a bit '80s'. After about five visits from the hotel's technical expert later that afternoon it became obvious the tv was never going to work so I repacked my bag, went out to dinner and by the time I returned the staff had managed to move my belongings to another room in the practically full hotel. This had the same kingsize bed but with upgraded fittings, leather sofa, fabulous bathroom and a great view over the Neckar. Attentive reception and bar staff, enormous menu choice at breakfast. Not a wonderful hotel. It needs to be updated, but besides that, our mattress was horribly uncomfortable with a big pit in the middle. We got back from a full day out at 5 pm to find that our room hadn't been cleaned. It's located in a nice area and the employees are friendly, but we weren't impressed. Also, their main restaurant is a US-inspired steakhouse, which is odd. It had only a few tables full at dinner time in the tourist season. I would think most people visiting Germany would prefer local cuisine-- I know we would have. read more

The last time we stayed at this property, many years ago, it had a different name. We were in town for an event of sorts, held on site. Marriott made this hotel feel both like an old friend, but a much better one. Lovely rooms (you pay a bit extra for a view of the Neckar, but it is so worth it), well appointed and clean. Full A/C, but no WiFi, except the free one in the business center downstairs. The included breakfast was decent, friendly service and good variety. You can eat on the terrace, which is nice on most days. Two things really stood out for us: the reception staff, who went above and beyond what was required of them, and the event staff, who made our event quite memorable - its was that well done. Like other reviewers noted, you can pick up a water taxi at the hotel's jetty to take you into town. Or you can walk for about 15-minutes, the Altstadt is that close. A very good experience and a very good value. We would recommend it wholeheartedly. read more
