Neckar river from the hotel room.
GoodEats M.

If you're a Marriott member or in my case Lifer, I do recommend staying at this Marriott. It's has the Neckar river as its backyard and trail. The parking garage is easy to get to and and close enough to the old town. It's walkable if your lifestyle thinks one mile or 1.6 km is a nice stroll on river or through the city street or both. The breakfast room is is very nice with plenty of options and fresh fruits. The customer service is 5 star. They fresh and free latte machine all day long for use in the lobby. The executive lounge has snacks, wine, bier and more (3 star). The hotel room is nice and clean and overall 3.5 stars. The staff is ultra friendly and speaks good English. I stay here every time I come to Heidelberg. I think you will enjoy it too.

Came here for a 2 night stay. The hotel is near the train station and is walkable, otherwise taxi fare will run about 8 Euros. Check In was efficient and I was upgraded to a suite on the club lounge overlooking the beautiful river. The suite was spacious and contained a king bed, living room and large flat screen TV. The club lounge is large and also has a large outdoor patio. We enjoyed the beautiful river views while enjoying hot and cold appetizers. Another plus was lthe wine and beer in was complimentary! The service at the front desk and entire hotel was accommodating and friendly. If you needed any assistance - the staff was spot on. I would return to this Marriott in a heartbeat.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times over the years, but now we came back as a family of 4, to stay for a long week- end, kicking off our European holiday. As European hotels go, there are very few options to accommodate 4 people in one room. I want to stress the effort and time the staff at Marriott Heidelberg invested in ensuring our family could stay together. Though the room was not ready for early check-in when we arrived about 10:30 am, the ladies at the front desk put forth a focused effort to get us settled. By noon, we had a junior suite, with a king bed and a queen-sized pull-out couch, so we all could take a short nap, to deal with the jet lag. The concierge lounge at this hotel is charming and cozy: the breakfast buffet has nice choices of smoked fish, cold cuts, baked & dairy items, cereal, small hot selection, as well as beverages. Mid-day, you will always find some snacks and drinks. On a sunny day, it's great to have your meal or beverage on the deck, overlooking the river, observing boats and canoes slide by. The staff is very professional, dedicated, attentive, pleasant, and is always here to answer questions and help. They even helped me arrange for a long-distance birthday cake delivery, when my husband was traveling there on his b'day not too long ago.

Nice view of Heidelberg! Love this city! Picture from second floor

Heidelberg, Germany; It kind of reminded me of a hotel room in the United States, and for the first Hotel off of the plane what a great place to stay. Staff was friendly and nice. The rooms are a good size. Bed was comfortable. Bath has all the amenities you need. And they had a coffee pot in the room!!! It also has a cardio room, an indoor pool, a bar, restaurants, and computer room. WIFI is available for a redonk price, but that is almost every hotel in Europe. If WIFI was free I would have given this place five stars, come on it's a Marriott! They needed free WIFI. Great Views of the river, and if you are on the top floor you can see the Castle!

The views!!! Ok I'm not sure how we swung it, Marriott Platinum, but we stayed on points and got hooked up in the best room. The views were incredible! Everyone was extremely friendly from the front desk, to the lounge staff, to guest services, to room service to the restaurant. We arrived a little later and it was HOT so we just went to the lounge and ordered room service. Wish we had gotten to explore a bit as it seems like a cool place. There was even fireworks that evening! Next day breakfast was really good! I'd stay here again, even in a different room :)

The room we had overlooked a river. Front desk staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful (providing a map and some recommendations). The lobby lounge area was cozy and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our room did have two twin beds that were actually separated from each other, sometimes hard to find in Europe. The room itself was not particularly spacious, especially the bathroom (which was about the size of a cruise ship bathroom). The bed was firm, but reasonably comfortable. The pillow was a large European style pillow, but needed a bit more firmness for neck support. The hotel does have an elevator, but it only goes up to the third floor. If your room is on the fourth floor, as ours was, you have to go up a final set of steps to your floor (but the front desk did ask us if we needed assistance with that). The hotel appeared to have an associated restaurant next to it, but we did not eat there to comment. The location and friendly staff definitely take the edges off the negatives. For those traveling by train, there is not close proximity to the station (so you'd need a taxi to the hotel). However, the hotels I stayed at in Germany that were close to the main train stations ended up being in much more shady neighborhoods--so lack of proximity may be one reason why the area felt so much safer for this hotel.

It had air conditioning which was nice on a warm day. Once your car was parked you can walk to everywhere. It's an old building updated nicely. The only downside is no parking but if you use the parking place they suggest then you do get a discount. Be prepared if you have a large vehicle trying to find a place. The parking spots are very small. I knew this in advance. The views, the people , the bed and the location makes it worth staying. I will be back.

Walking in felt like stepping back in time. I doubt much has changed about this place in decades, and that's entirely a compliment. We were seated near a window and the ambiance was everything you'd want, cozy, warm, and genuinely inviting. I loved the feel of it. Our server was very kind. Her English was limited, but she was gracious and patient as I attempted to speak German, and was generous enough to tell me I did well. It added to the charm of the whole experience. Now, the food. The potatoes that came with the schnitzel were the best German potatoes I've ever had. The schnitzel itself was delicious, exactly what you'd hope for. The cheese spaetzle was a highlight as well, rich and satisfying. Plan on sharing it. The one miss was the pizza my sister-in-law ordered, which was fine but felt out of place. Stick to the German classics and you won't be disappointed. Would love to return if I ever make it back to Heidelberg.

Our dinner was really good. We did have reservations. We even enjoyed some non-alcoholic beer. We had apple strudel for dessert, which was also really good. We were staying at the hotel, so just had to go upstairs after dinner. For the hotel - the only difficulty was the check in. We weren't sure where to go to check in. So we ended up asking the wait staff. We walked through the restaurant with our luggage to the the check in desk. Our room was comfortable and homey. The door required an old fashioned key to open. You can't beat the location being right by the old bridge.

For an older hotel, the rooms are good size and well appointed (strong WiFi, small desk). The gym and pool are both excellent. The buffet breakfast is typical for a good European hotel. A nice selection of breads, cheeses, and meats with eggs available. You can get a custom coffee if you want. The hotel restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, covered for the rain or sun. The hotel is pricey but should be for the service. I gave it four stars but it's borderline 5.

There is an entrance to the lift which takes you to the lobby direct from the parking level, seems to be a pretty standard thing with most new hotel I have experienced in Germany. The hotel is easy on the eye but be warned at the time of writing this there was a lot of building works in the area so views maybe restricted! My room was nice and tidy with all the amenities you expect in a modern hotel. The wet room shower was clean and everything worked as you would expect. I guess in the summer my room suffers from a lot of sun light as it came equipped with an electric external blind! The bed was comfy although I never understand the two duvet thing!! The restaurant/bar is not the biggest but is nicely laid out with casual seating areas along with more formal dining areas. They have a wide range of cocktails and an extensive menu. The meals were a good portion size and definitely hit the spot. As you would expect the staff were all multi lingual, friendly and helpful. I'm told it's location is ideal to walk into the old town, I didn't have time to see if this was true but if it is that's another plus point.
