I rarely write reviews (good or bad) but this was a must. Nicholas the Hotel Manager and Leah the Ops Director have been incredible to work with. I am getting married in Malibu in September 2026 and we spent months talking to every hotel in the vicinity. Not only was Nicholas and Leah the best hotel contacts we connected with, they have been some of the best people we have worked with for all our vendors. The communication has been on-going, clear, and incredibly accommodating to ours and our guests' needs. They have made us feel completely prioritized and given us so much confidence that our room block at Hotel June Malibu was the perfect choice for our 3-day wedding weekend. We stayed here with some friends and we really had a great experience. The reason why I docked it the star is because they told us the pool was open and in reality it needed maintenance and was closed. We came expecting to do some pool lounging and that didn't happen apparently it wasn't routine maintenance because it was closed our entire stay and we stayed several days. But I will say it was very relaxing that beds were comfy and we still had a great time. read more

Room 7 is super drafty and the poor old heater over the door just can't keep up. The room and bathroom are bare concrete floors with a rug at the end of the bed. Recently came back from a lovely vacation here and had the best time! This is a cute boutique hotel revamped to have a rustic, surfer vibe. Definitely fits the overall vibe of Malibu. Noting an earlier review about the partially rusted furniture or how some of the furniture appears "damaged" its still very usable and simply goes with the aesthetic. The rooms are actually very well maintained and clean. While the concrete floors (they're smooth, luckily) may be off-putting to some, I think it's better than dealing with a stained carpet. Not to mention, tons of windows to let natural light in--really opens up the room. The general manager has an adorable dog, Bella, that greeted my boyfriend and I and it was off to a great start. There is not too many other rooms here, so you don't have to worry about the place feeling too small or crowded. We had an issue with the toilet in our room, where the inside chain kept detaching causing an inability for it to flush properly--but we got help from someone working security at night, and even offered a complimentary breakfast credit as an apology for the inconvenience. While we forgot to cash in on that offer--we greatly appreciated the gesture. Some considerations for folks who are considering this hotel: there's not a whole lot nearby so having your car or Uber would be helpful; there's no room service but various breads or pastries available for purchase in the lobby; coffee and water are available in the morning for free; and bathrooms are a bit on the smaller side--but they do have nice Aesop soap for you to use! Unprofessional and Unhelpful Experience with Front Desk Staff Robyn!!!! I called Hotel June Malibu today 6/29 at 4:30pm to inquire about availability for a reservation tonight or tomorrow. Unfortunately, I was met with extreme rudeness and unprofessionalism from a woman named Robyn who answered the phone. When I politely asked if they rented by the hour (a common question for flexibility), she abruptly said no and tried to hang up. I then asked about overnight availability after 6 PM, and again she quickly tried to end the call without offering help. When I asked about tomorrow night instead, she started checking, but refused to answer any other questions about the property and said a manager would have to call me back -- without even asking for my name or number. When I said I'd wait on the line, she claimed no manager was available and then hung up on me without resolving anything. I called back four times, and no one answered. It's baffling that someone in a hospitality role would treat a potential guest this way. Robyn's tone and behavior were dismissive and unprofessional. I hope management addresses this issue seriously, as this experience left a terrible impression and made me reconsider ever staying here! read more

We stayed at June Motel for 1 night after visiting the Getty Villa. The entire staff were super warm and welcoming, and the room was spacious and cozy. Fun to stay at an old school motel with all the modern updates! Easy restaurants and breakfast spots nearby too. read more

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel June! Shania at the front desk was so welcoming, offering suggestions on things to do and eat in the area. The pool area was really nice and the pool itself was heated, almost felt like a hot tub! The room itself was modern but cozy. It had everything you need, and offered plenty of snacks and drinks. There's even a little patio in the back with chairs and a hammock! The hotel is right off Pacific Coast Highway but you can't hear the traffic (only frogs at night which was honestly peaceful). There's complimentary coffee and also snacks for purchase in the lobby. The location is really close to Point Dume and Paradise Cove, as well as other great beaches in Malibu. I would stay here again in the future! read more

I've never had an experience where I've been moved to leave a review before visiting an establishment so congratulations Hotel June-Malibu, you truly are one of a kind. I was really drawn in by your website and photos. It was my fiancée's birthday and I wanted to take her someplace special. We were in the process of planning our wedding and I even considered this as a potential location for our small ceremony and reception. After making my reservation I received confirmation via email but saw that I wasn't charged. I wanted to tightly monitor my spending on this trip so I thought I'd call and see if I could pre pay for at least the base rate. I made my reservation on a Tuesday, called twice--no answer, called many more times on Wednesday as well as left a voicemail--no answer or return call, after work I tried to find a number other than what was on their website, I found a 1800 number, I called and reached a person that could t see any reservation for us. This was unnerving. While on the phone they came to eventually ask if I was at hotel June in Malibu or west LA. It was Malibu, they still could t see a reservation.l but agreed to send them an email or my behalf (they couldn't just connect me? Weird.) They also gave me a number that wasn't the 424 number listed in their website. "This is the number I have for them." They said (wtf?) Someone from Hotel June called me on The following week. I expressed my discomfort with spending 1300 for a 3 night stay at a hotel that I couldn't get in touch with. They explained that bc of wind and fire in Malibu, they had no power and no phone lines. I accepted their explanation and just wanted at this point to get additional confirmation that my reservation was there. After some searching, she found it. She asked if I wanted any complimentary wine for my fiancée's bd. I said yes and we ended the call. I was sent an email asking that I give them a message they would add to a card. I could r email it, but decided to call instead. Armed with the new number I felt confident someone would answer, no one answered. I'd also spent the previous night reading reviews for this location and they were mostly bad. This was supposed to be a special trip for us. I decided to cancel. I finally got in touch with someone (after calling the 310 number, the 424 number, the 1800 number online and the number in the email I got from the assistant manager) and canceled my reservation. They didn't seem to care one bit. Didn't ask why, just informed me that they would charge me $25 for the cancellation fee. Worth every penny. read more

What a terrible way to waste $780 dollars. Please save your money and go somewhere else . The hotel is right next to the freeway. So forget about having a nice and quiet rest . We all got 3 hours of sleep at the most because of the noise. There was a small window next to the door with NO curtain so ALL the light from the parking lot was facing us directly on the face , I literally had to put two pillows and squash them in somehow to cover the light. (Photos attached) The first thing you see when you enter is a sign that is not even painted well and you can still read the word MOTEL. They put some cheap sticker letters covering it that says Hotel June. This is NOT a Hotel. It is a $300 dollar motel . You get to your room and it is NOTHING like their website photos. Sorry but that is very misleading and unfair to charge so much for the bad quality details and furniture and very small bedrooms. I have attached photos of the dirty concrete floor, rusty stool and there was even a black hair inside the shower from the last guests that stayed there. Really disgusting . I know it wasn't us because I am blonde, my husband has white hair and the kids didn't take a shower that night. There is nowhere to put your toiletries other than the floor. Just lovely for almost $800 dollars a night. They charged us $25 dollars as a parking fee, plus a RESORT fee which includes nothing. Not even a pastry they had at the reception . We had to pay 5 dollars for one if we wanted it. It trully was a disgrace staying at this motel (I refuse to call it a hotel) . My staycation was everything I needed. I drove by a couple of years ago and promised myself I would stay there. Best decision I've made this summer. The room was minimalist luxury. The bed was top tier. The pool was a vibe. And the best part was Robin. She made me feel at home, and she smelled like an angel. This place is worth it. So close to many hidden beaches. Also...it's on pch, so car sounds are expected and really aren't that noticeable. If this place is for you,it's for you. It's definitely for me and I'll be back. read more

Not sure why the reviews are so crazy but I thought it was a very pleasant place with a lot of details and thought put into it. It's quaint and If you want a resort with water slides and all you can eat buffet go stay in one. Lol It's just a cute little stay and it's done tastefully. I would hate to run a business during this time with not only tough economy but hard to please people. Someone even complained about the cement floor/ that's MODERN. Id rather step on cement than a dirty carpet. The lighting , landscaping , artsy touches, quality bath products, nice design it's a boutique motel/hotel. You get the details and aesthetic for the price with updated and nicely done pool (it's small but it's really nice) wish there was a hot tub though. Anyway you get quality. Anything cheaper would be an actual cheap motel. So go stay in one of your want cheap. read more

We stayed here and were unfortunately very underwhelmed. It is not remotely worth the price. I'm not exactly sure why we stayed there, by the side of a highway not walking distance to a beach, not close to anything except roadside. For the $700/night price, you'd expect an upscale boutique hotel experience like many others we've had the pleasure of staying in- like a bar would have been assumed to be minimal requirement - but not even that- just beers in a fridge and "complimentary online yoga classes" which is a one month free trial. I tried to use the complimentary bikes for a nice morning ride and was told by a security guy sitting at a table glued to his cell phone that hotel staff haven't yet arrived so I wasn't allowed to after he called some manager. On top of that, they charged us $25/night for self parking at this roadside motel with plenty of parking, and not one but two extra bizarre fees one resort fee which i suppose one for the dinky little pool (that was relatively nice and definitely instagrammable as was the rest of the hotel). Secondly, for a health and wellness fee to which I inquired why different from a resort fee, they said it was for healthcare for their employees. Last time i ran a business, I included the cost of running of my business within the advertised price, not tacked it on as an up sell that people can't say no to. Of course you should pay your employees living wages and health care support- just don't add it after the bill - what kind of management is this? I can see they rake the gravel every day, but what else is being offered really? Again, good for Instagram but no real substance. To be fair, I will say the good things. Hotel is kept sparkly clean. Great linens with high thread count and fluffy pillows. The pool is small but quiet and nice. I like the hammock in the back and the boxed water. They also welcomed us with a bottle of champagne in our room to celebrate our anniversary and a handwritten note. BLUF: it's nice enough but this roadside motel is not worth $700/night read more

Anyone who would give this place 5 stars must not have ever stayed at an upscale beach motel/hotel.To say it is "rustic" is just a nice way of saying old & worn out. Not even close to the beach. Poolside is small and uncomfortable for the money ( which is overpriced) and even the sign that is right next to noisy PCH is cheap and reused & ugly. Parking is added as is a fee that covers healthcare for the employees ( huh?) and amenities (huh? again) ( read the fine print) Save your money and look for a getaway beach motel with REAL amenities and an up-to-date signage. read more

I am elated with the Hotel Staff and Property. The rooms are quaint and stylish for Malibu and a Beachy Feel. Close to Zumba and Far enough to escape. Solo or Couple awesome pool is south beach style and they offer a HiTech security System and verified night guard and vehicle security. Snacks are stocked in room along with gourmet treats in the AM or dinner time. Grab a euro cutting board with cured meats and cheeses and a French bagette to accompany the palate. Shania Robin, Mr Kumar, Shelby and Angel all five star skill sets and hospitality resumes! Beds and linens classy and stylish while feeling at home away from home. Coffee fresh and on before SIX! First of all, I wouldn't call this a hotel, but a roadside motel. We stayed at this hotel because it's pet friendly. That's the only positive. The prices are to high at $ 700+ a night. Room was small and dirty. No closet, just a rod coming out of the wall to hang your clothes. No counter space in bathroom. Self parking for $ 25/day plus pet fee $ 150 for stay, resort fees, health and wellness fees etc. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Cute little hotel. Comfortable beds, tastefully styled. Stayed here 2 nights for the Malibu Triathlon and biked from the hotel to the race. Parking was no problem. Temp control in the room was not very consistent. A little too much light in the room at night due to a white LED on the A/C unit and light shining in the window around the edge of the shade from the outside lighting. Staff was friendly and courteous, check in was quick and easy, fridge was stocked with lots of drink options and there were also snacks in the room. Complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning and baked goods and yogurt and oatmeal for sale. Nice seating area off the back of the lobby. I would definitely stay here again if I needed a weekend option close to Zuma beach. read more

This here is a gem of a boutique hotel, like a diamond in the not so rough area of Malibu, California. We were supposed to be driving home after a weeklong visit with relatives in L.A., but just couldn't resist a very spontaneous last minute one night stay at Hotel June, so we could hang out at the beach, before heading back to the Mojave Desert, just my 5 year old daughter and me, and we didn't want to leave! We were greeted so hospitably, and immediately felt comfortable. It's a clean, yet rustic, but modern, stylish oasis nestled against hills. No ocean views, but we could still feel the ocean air, and there's a cute pool on the premises. The bed was so comfy, the shower pressure PERFECT, and the small details were artistically designed, like the way planters and vases were placed Although the restaurant was not established(we were told they were working on developing one on premises) there were enough options to choose from at the front desk for a light dinner and morning breakfast. We really didn't need much, so we were very content. Overall, Hotel June is a lovely place if you want a low key atmosphere to rest and decompress. We felt like we were staying at an exclusive minimalistic retreat. read more

If you want to experience Malibu without having to deal with the large crowds and crazy traffic, Hotel June is the perfect location for your stay! The hotel decor and landscaping is beautiful and calming. The rooms were also nicely decorated to have a minimalist mid century look with very unique pieces of art. The bed is incredibly comfortable and large. The bathroom was equally nice. I think I made several comments about the water pressure in the shower, it was that good! The owners of this *motel* could have made the decision to have the cutest little motel in Malibu, and would have found their rooms booked months and months in advance. Instead, they decided to mislead customers into believing that this is a hotel (no), with a full sized pool (no), tucked away in the malibu hills (no). This was a place called the Malibu Riviera Motel--the old sign is still clearly visible--on the Pacific Coast Highway (an extremely convenient location for beaches, etc) and has been very nicely cleaned up and redecorated--for a roadside motel. The pool is tiny, the floors are cement, there are bugs, etc. Customers would be very remiss to believe that they would want to lounge here during the day, as the website and the price clearly imply. The price is robbery for what this actually is. But like a cheap place, they find strange excuses for extra charges. I asked what their "amenities" charge was for and was told it was for the *yoga mat* in our room. Go to an actual boutique hotel--this is not that. And lastly: you'll notice that this place basically only has 1 star and 5 star reviews. There's a reason for that. Check which ones seem to be from real people. read more

My stay here was awful. The pictures make it look like a nice quiet serene area. In reality, the hotel is basically a stones throw from the pacific coast highway. There is constant noise from the traffic, which includes frequent emergency sirens from police and fire. The outdoor balcony for my room was completely unusable because the fumes and sound from the highway were unbearable. it was made clear I was looking for a quiet stay when i booked the room, the person who I booked the room with should have told me about the noise. The sounds of doors slamming in the middle of the night from neighboring rooms jolts you awake in the middle of the night. If a neighboring room runs water, it is extremely loud in the next room. Very few amenities in the room, no carpeting, no side tables for the bed, very few food options. The sheets reeked of bleach. The bed was uncomfortable, sheets were extremely rough and scratchy. Staff said I could text them for requests (and I did), all of which were ignored. There is nowhere to walk around or walk to from the hotel. No nearby places you can visit or go to eat unless you have a car or take uber. When I brought these issues to the staff and tried to work with them on a partial refund or a stay at another one of their properties, they refused. I hated my stay here and will never go back to this property or any associated properties. read more
