Each suite is designed by a different local artist and we enjoyed checking out all of them. If you want to hold a special event such as a wedding, Friederike is the best planner imaginable. She was on top of ensuring everything was handled from the meal to the flowers to the cake, music, photographer and mariachis. We were able to plan everything from the US without any problems. The wedding and the party were amazing! I have nothing negative to say about Hotel Azul!

Como había reservado a través de una plataforma externa, el recepcionista parecía disfrutar al negarse a cambiar la habitación de dos camas queen a una king. Lo mismo al preguntar si el desayuno estaba incluido: "No, porque no reservaste directamente." Entiendo si esa es la política, pero el tono fue condescendiente y hostil. 2. Solo nos dieron una llave para dos personas. A pesar de que estábamos dos huéspedes con horarios distintos, se negaron a dar una segunda llave. Dijeron que la otra persona tendría que pedir cada vez en recepción que la dejaran entrar. Increíblemente incómodo y sin sentido. 3. El desayuno fue pésimo. La comida del restaurante era insípida, grasosa y claramente hecha sin cuidado. Mejor desayunar en cualquier cafetería cercana. 4. Nos cobraron $10 por una toalla con una pequeña mancha de sangre. Así es. La mancha fue causada por ovulación--algo completamente natural y fácil de limpiar--pero guardaron la toalla en recepción y me exigieron pagar $10. No solo es mezquino, sino también inapropiado y hasta humillante. 5. Las habitaciones son ruidosas por la noche. El hotel está cerca de una autopista muy transitada y se escucha el tráfico hasta altas horas. Lleva tapones para los oídos si decides quedarte aquí. En resumen: El hotel tiene buena apariencia, pero la experiencia se ve arruinada por políticas rígidas, personal poco amable y cero sentido de hospitalidad. The rooms are a bit cramped, but they work. It's hard to maneuver with two people in the bathroom getting ready in the morning. The bed moves really easily from the wall (i.e. if you're sitting with your back against the wall on your laptop or watching TV. The walls are NOT soundproof at all. I could easily hear coughing, a baby crying, etc. The breakfast has hot and cold items. Everything is pretty low quality, but it will work to fill you.

It's a big hotel staff is wonderful and the restaurant is surprisingly good. We stayed six nights so we had a pretty broad experience. And beds were surprisingly comfortable for our mature bones but there were some quirks about the room that could have been improved. There is no dresser so you end up living out of your suitcase with things kind of scattered around. No refrigerator to keep water cold and if you want ice you have to remember to get it from the restaurant before it closes. Our experience is the staff and locals do not speak a lot of English but that has been the case throughout this trip which Was a little bit of a surprise since tourism is such an important part of the Oaxaca economy. But all the tour guides and Most restaurants have at least an English-speaking manager. We were fortunate to have a Spanish-speaking person with us which made the trip a little smoother.

It's not cheap, nor is it centrally located by any means. But, it's a nice break from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Quaint and charming are the words that come to mind. I would say it's very quiet, but unfortunately, the hotel also owns a karaoke bar one level below the street, which is far from soundproof. The maintenance staff also started working pretty early on a Saturday morning. Fortunately, our room had an air conditioning unit, so at least that blocked out most of the noise. It felt like we must have been here during low season because the hotel was completely dead. Of the 24 rooms available, only 3 were occupied. Of course, this also meant that we had the place to ourselves and were treated as such. The outdoor dining area has a TV and being the American that I am, I asked if we could hook up the football game to my NFL Game Pass. They went and fetched an HDMI cable and made it happen. They even handed me the remote, making me feel right at home. About the only thing they didn't do was pull the couch out from the lobby to make for more comfortable seating. As far as the room, it's pretty spacious. The bed is comfortable. The complementary coffee isn't bad. They have safes, and the housekeeping does a great job. The food is also pretty good, though I was worried considering it appeared we were the only guests.
