The location in a quiet small town Nus is ideal for strategically enjoying the driving proximity of the most exciting mountains in Italian Valle d'Aosta, Switzerland, and France & meanwhile staying on the cheaper side of the Alps. This convenient location is the greatest asset of the hotel. Nus on its own is not particularly exciting, but there is a basic convenience store next to the hotel for you to stock up and go on your merry way to Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, etc.
The rooms are modest but clean, and both sides of the hotel have nice hillside views. Not all rooms have air conditioning, but closing the blinds during the day keeps them pleasantly cool. Plus you can always cool down in the outdoor pool and swim while enjoying the mountain views. (For winter, there is an indoor pool)
As for cuisine, for a two star hotel, it really exceeded my expectations. The continental breakfast is sufficient and the dinners pleasantly filled you up with a basic salad buffet, very hearty soups or antipasto pasta, meaty main meals and a choice of desert or fruit. If you have special requirements, a la carte is also possible. If you go to a two star hotel, obviously you are not expecting high dining. The food here may have been simple, but it was of good quality and well seasoned. I recommend trying the Italian house wine with your meal.
The hotel seems to be a family-run place - the staff are very kind and accommodating, even the ones speaking very little English. If I needed to stay in the area, I'd gladly come back.
