The hotel is an easy 5 minutes walk down the hill from Sitges train station. There appears to have been a recent upgrade where all rooms are now fully air conditioned, very efficiently so. I booked a single room which was very small but had everything I needed. A nice, clean, modern bathroom and a small balcony. The bathroom too looked like a recent upgrade and the shower was amazing, always very hot water available quickly and with amazing power. As the hotel offers very good value for money (I paid about GBP£150 for 4 nights in July), my expectations of the breakfast were very low. However, I was very pleasantly surprised, the range and quality of breakfast available was astounding. Sausage, bacon, eggs, or pastries or yoghurt, breads, meats, cheeses, even crumpets that you can toast yourself. There was also churros and chocolate if you can stomach that kind of thing at breakfast time! I also had low expectations of the included wifi. However, it was one of the best hotel wifi I have ever used. Incredibly fast, and much better than I have at home. I was able to perform a software upgrade on my iPad in no time at all!! The hotel pool is small but adequate, however sun loungers are in fairly limited supply. The pool only opens officially from 11AM, though I saw people using it before that time. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the El Cid, and would have no issues using it again.There are better hotels in Sitges, but depending on the season, they don't offer anywhere near the value for money that you get at the El Cid.

We had a room with a great city view and it was perfect to wake up and see a beautiful city. They have a breakfast buffet option, but it is not standard with a typical reservation (I believe it's about 12 Euros). Close to Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya, many museums, lots of restaurants and shopping options. Overall, this is a very good choice in Barcelona.

This is an older, charming hotel located in the breathtakingly beautiful Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. It is conveniently located literally around the corner from La Catedral, and about a 10-15 minute walk from La Rambla and La Boqueria Mercat. My room was clean, comfortable, and had a nice view of the street below. Unfortunately, I was so excited with this being my first time in Barcelona, that I totally forgot to take any pictures of my room and the hotel, lol! As far as the staff goes, they were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was good and satisfying, yet left enough space in my stomach to be able to sample all the amazing food Barcelona has to offer, lol. If I ever come back to Barcelona, (which I most certainly hope to do), and decide to stay in the Gothic Quarter again, I would definitely stay here once more.

We arrived early around 10:30 am on Friday and were not able to check-in early as they were fully booked. Luggage storage service was quick and we ended up getting into our room around 2:30 so good to plan for this. Otherwise, check-in was fast and seamless. There was construction in front of the hotel (as of early May, 2023). That said, we couldn't hear it from our 6th floor room. We had a King room which was cozy. We loved the Terrace/Deck which came with a couple of Lounge chairs and the space was probably as big as our room. Loved the view! Room had a mini bar fridge and safe. We had to have an iron brought to our room. Unfortunately, one of the elevators was out of order. Complimentary Champagne was a nice touch. Exercise room had newer equipment and was open 24 hours. There is a bar/cafe in the front lounge area. We ended up getting breakfast on Sunday. 18 euros per person and given the various food options, well worth it-loved the fresh squeezed orange juice. Rooftop deck area with bar and swimming pool were also a nice touch. Centrally located and just 10 -15 minute walk to Las Ramblas, Playa Catalunya and other attractions are within a 10 minute drive. Service was engaged and upbeat throughout.

Our room had three twin beds with a toilet and shower. It was perfect for our two night stay before boarding our cruise ship. Although our taxi driver mentioned it was a high crime area, we had no problems venturing out during daylight hours. We walked to Rambla de Caputxins which was approximately a block away. There were street vendors as well as many restaurants up and down the street. It was apparently a well known area to many tourists. The breakfast included with our stay included fresh pizza, warm croissants, cold cuts, etc. If you are looking for a budget hotel in Barcelona, this might be a good choice for you?!

For the sake of the relationship I found a decent and cheap hotel I could check into in a few hours. (Boyfriend looked at the teenage American girl like I had let loose an 8 ft anaconda into his apartment. I guess 16 year old girls confuse more than 16 year old boys.) Hotel Barbara was just fine, two twins a private bath but only one electrical outlet for 49€ a night. No free WiFi, so I had to entertain the teenager myself. (I should get a medal for that, really.) Breakfast was 5€, but this was my old neighborhood, so I skipped it for Cafe de Les Delicies (http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-de-les-delicies-barcelona).

Mine had a kitchenette with electric range, microwave, fridge, plates and utensils. There was a safe and toiletries were provided by sink and in shower. Walls are thin as I heard the neighbors very easily. Bed was fine. Complaints were as follows: one staff member seemed annoyed when I asked her for info, bath towels are very thin, thermostat didn't appear to work well as I had it on a high temp and it didn't get as hot as the temp noted.

Overall, the hotel exceeded our expectations and I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to be out of the busy area.
