Hotel Ciutat Martorell is in a small city outside of Barcelona. We crashed here the night before…read moreflying out, since it's much cheaper to stay outside of the main city. The hotel was indeed very affordable, and the bedroom was clean and spacious. There was AC (one of the first times we had this the entire trip), the bed was very comfortable, and our bathroom had a large bathtub/shower blend.
The hallways outside the room, however, smell like smoke and have stained carpet, the type that you'd find in a budget motel in the states. The provided parking is not free, as I had thought, but there's plenty of free street parking in the area if you're willing to walk a little. Similarly, the breakfast is not included and is actually quite expensive compared to what we were used to paying throughout the rest of Spain. We decided to walk down the street and found a small cafe to have a much cheaper meal. The area of town seemed working-class, with a few good restaurants in walking distance.
Overall, we had a comfortable stay.
