Louis R is back in the building…read more Louis R loves Austrian hotels that only have 24 rooms, has beautiful architecture, has large organized rooftop rooms with large sky lights and a balcony overlooking the garden, large clean bathrooms with a bidet, delicious breakfast options, a clean spa, and prompt, affable service. Louis R loves the proximity of this hotel to the Underground and to the city center (located in District 3). Vienna, Austria is just as lucky to have famous/infamous iconic figures roll through it's city streets, like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gaston Glock, Sigmund Freud, Adolf Hitler, Franz Schubert, Christoph Waltz and Louis R. Perfect spot to stay in Vienna!…read more First of all, I want to highlight how wonderful and accommodating Ulla Spiess is! I may have been a bit of a difficult visitor after I wanted to swtich rooms. Ulla was accommodating and wonderful about everything. She's also quite nice and really friendly. I visited this spot recently and it really is a super spot to stay in Vienna. It is approximately 3 stops from the "center" of town (depending on what you consider the center) and it's really easy to navigate the trains. The location that the B&B is in is really quaint and there are local restaurants nearby as well, so you don't have to travel to the more touristy area. Ulla had a great restaurant recommendation for my first night there (delicious and inexpensive!). I stayed four nights and had a great time. I was in two rooms while I was there (my fault that I moved). Both rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. The breakfast area is really charming and there is an area that has glass windows where you can feel like you are eating in the garden. The food is really great and fresh. Cheeses, meats, cereals, juices, pastries...I could go on and on. The made to order scrambled eggs are great, too! Coffee is delicious! Everyone is really helpful and they really make you feel like you are staying in their home. The B&B is expanding - I'm not sure when everything will be open, but there may be more room options soon. Thanks to Hotel Pension Spiess & Spiess Appartements for a great visit! I hope to be back!

One of the best lodging experiences I have ever had during my travels!…read moreRecently, the fiance and I stayed here (along with another friend) for 5 non-consecutive nights during our trip through central Europe (we used Vienna as our base). The owner, Karl, was extremely kind and welcoming; the rooms were spotless; and the outdoor courtyard terrace provided a wonderfully authentic European experience that one cannot often find even in the best of 5-star hotels. The pension consists of two apartments that can be connected to provide a suite. This was great for us since we were travelling with a friend who occupied the other apartment. Both have free WiFi, full en-suite bathrooms, mini kitchenettes (with 2 burner stovetop, place settings/utensils, a small fridge and a sink), a queen bed, a sofa, and a dining table for four. A Senseo coffee machine is provided with free coffee and there was also a nice selection of complimentary teas as well. The drinks in the mini-bar are on an honour system and are extremely well priced (about what you would pay in the grocery store...not crazy hotel prices!). Breakfast is an additional € 5 per person if desired and can be taken on the terrace or in your room. At € 70 per night for a double room with 2 people the price was more than fair for the level of personal attention we received. The private airport pickup for € 19 (up to 4 people...per ride, not per person) was well worth it especially it you are travelling with other people. This was a busy trip for us and we stayed for 3 nights, left for 1 night, stayed another night, left for a night, and then stayed one final night before returning home. Karl was kind enough to hold our luggage for us during our time away (at no charge) so we would not have to carry big suitcases to our other destinations. This was a lifesaver and is something you don't get at most hotels. The U-bahn station (subway) is a short 5-min walk down about 4 blocks and there is a mall nearby that is open fairly late if you want to get some food (with mostly locals) after sightseeing. If I am ever in Vienna again, I would make this my default place to stay.

Normally, this would be a five-star review, but I did have a slight issue prior to arrival…read more I've been a Marriott Bonvoy member for over 30 years, and when given a choice, I always try to stay at a Marriott. As a Lifetime Platinum Elite member, certain benefits are part of that loyalty. I had two reservations for this stay: the first portion was booked under my name, and the remaining nights (which together totaled seven nights) were accidentally booked under my husband's name and his Bonvoy number. In the past, I've never had an issue having reservations like this paired together. I even called Marriott in advance and was told not to worry, that the hotel would merge the reservations upon arrival and that my Platinum benefits would apply for the entire stay. The flight was delayed into Vienna, I contacted the hotel through my reservation to notify them. At the same time, I again requested that the two reservations be merged and asked whether my Platinum benefits would override my husband's so we could have lounge access for the duration of our stay. Ronja responded and clearly stated that this would not happen and that my Platinum benefits would not be honored for the second half of the stay. After going back and forth and realizing I wasn't getting anywhere, I decided to address it when we got to the hotel. When we arrived at 1:00 a.m., Michael was at the front desk, and he was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, professional, and incredibly accommodating. He resolved the situation immediately and without hesitation. Ronja's LinkedIn lists her title as "Hotel & Hospitality Specialist," but based on this interaction, additional training may be beneficial. As a lifelong Platinum Elite member, I certainly did not feel like a valued guest. Aside from that experience, the hotel itself was absolutely perfect. Our room was lovely, located on a high floor with a beautiful view overlooking the park. The hotel has so much to offer, and the Concierge Lounge was one of the best I've ever experienced. It was open daily from 6:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.--which is impressive in itself. Breakfast was served every morning with a great selection of both hot and cold options, and the coffee machine offered an excellent variety of choices. There was also a daily happy hour from 5:00 p.m. until closing, with beer, wine, and a consistent selection of food and snacks. The lounge staff truly went above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. The views from the lounge were magnificent making it a nice place to relax after a long day. This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic part of the city. It's within walking distance of major sights and excellent restaurants. If you're visiting Vienna, this is a wonderful place to stay.

Solid hotel with a solid breakfast buffet…read more We stayed here for 5 nights. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Each morning, we had breakfast at the hotel which included hot items like scrambled eggs, bacon (which was different from American bacon), mushrooms, potatoes, roasted tomatoes, waffles, and pancakes. The buffet also had a fruit bar, deli section, breads, sweet pastries, yogurts, cereals, salad, and a made to order omelette station. Beverages included coffees, teas, juices, and even prosecco. The food was the same every day, but there was enough selection that we could switch it up throughout the week. Would stay here again in the future.
