This is a small yet very functional hotel right off the pedestrian area in downtown Visp. The…read morestreet does cross in front of the hotel but you do have to walk about 30 yards to get to the entrance on the pedestrian walkway. There is a garage across the street, under a building that has a private garage for the hotel. There is an elevator that will help you avoid having to take the stairs with your bags. Although this hotel and the pedestrian area is right across from the train station it seems to be a very safe location. There's lots of new development in the area, two large shopping malls with grocery stores etc. within a block. The rooms have air-conditioning and they all appear to have balconies. There is no refrigerator or mini bar in the room however. The dining choices are somewhat limited in the area especially on a Monday, so we chose to go to the Migros grocery store and buy some charcuterie and have a meal on our terrace. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom has a very large shower. The best part of the hotel in my opinion is the breakfast buffet on the sixth floor. It basically takes up the entire building has two large internal dining rooms and a large terrace on the east and a narrow terrace on the north side. The buffet has everything you could possibly want. It has a large selection of fresh baked breads, at least four different types of cereals along with additional granola and muesli type options. There's plenty of preserves and honey. There is a large section with cold cuts, fresh cheese as you cut yourself, salmon, fresh cut fruit, yogurt. For the hot food they generally offer 3 to 4 options, hard-boiled eggs - they mean for them to be soft boiled but the temperature is too hot and they are always fully set, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, small sausages and very tasty little meatballs. There are also a few offerings of mini pastries. There is also a fully automated espresso and cappuccino machine and three different types of fresh fruit juices. They do not give you wash cloths and when we suggested it to the manager when turning in our comment card he said "no one uses those anymore" in a rather flippant tone which was really the only negative thing we encountered in our entire stay, but it was truly unnecessary as he could've said thank you and be done with it.

Easy walk from the town and the other station for the tram to the valley. Breakfast was included with our stay and the spread was impressive. I and (6) traveling companions stayed at this hotel in Aug of 2023. There were good and bad aspects…read moreof the visit. As an engineer, I'm always focused on what can be improved so let's begin with the bad list: (1) No lift or elevator so if you're elderly, handicapped, or injured it won't be much fun. (2) There's no air conditioning so our room was uncomfortable in the 81°F temperature. There are no fans in the rooms and no window screens to keep bugs out so there aren't many options out there to stay cool. (3) The 220 volt switches that controlled the light fixture and exhaust fan in the bathroom were located within the shower stall. There's no planet in our solar system where that would be considered safe as these are not GFCI protected circuits. (4) Some of the 220 volt receptacles in our room had wall plates that would spin which made it difficult to plug into. (5) The filter on our bathroom exhaust fan revealed a lack of maintenance. (6) My room included a chain smoker on the next balcony over so I was unable to enjoy any time on the balcony. There were good things too but just not enough to elevate us out of the 2-star rating: (1) The views from the mountain side were stunning but we mainly have God to thank for that rather than the hotel. (2) The bacon cheeseburgers in the restaurant were very good although expensive. (3) The staff were kind, friendly, helpful, and skilled.

While it's a "hotel" it felt more like a very high quality, homey, and personable BnB. We booked the suite (would've fit 2 adults and 2 kids) because we decided last minute (3 days) to do an ad hoc trip to Murren due to great recommendations from friends and coworkers. It was a bit pricy but we bit the bullet because it was just so highly rated. First, the staff at the hotel were just so incredibly nice and friendly! She noticed we were only 2 people and offered to just lock the door to the room with the bunk beds and give us a cheaper rate! She also walked us through what was in the area, and gave us great trail recommendations (we went on the one she suggested and it was exactly what we were looking for). The room itself (at least the suite) looked like an apartment - when you enter there's a small hallway with a bathroom on the right, a few steps later the main bedroom is on the left, with a second bedroom with what I assume are the bunk bed on the right (we couldn't confirm since it was locked). Everything was beautifully decorated, pristine, spacious and just perfect. Connected to the master bedroom is a small balcony - and WOW! The views were absolutely spectacular. It felt unreal - from the trees, to the vast mountains in the distance that varied from green terrains to snowy white. There's also a small restaurant downstairs ran by the same owners as the hotel serving homemade Swiss food that was easily the best restaurant food we've had this entire trip (but that's for another review :P). They also served continental breakfast which was a blend of amazing pastries, fresh fruits, juices, cured meats, cereals and more. I love love LOVE this place and only wish we could've stayed longer.
