View from the penthouse pool.

Traveling with kids for a very long weekend trip to Montreal, some pros and cons: - the little suites were perfect, insofar as we crammed our party into one room, we were able to all sleep pretty comfortably using the sofa bed in the living room as the extra. The double beds were just a bit too small for adults but oddly enough the sofa bed in the main room was full queen size, albeit with a thin mattress. There are balconies, although with an odd step up, and no furniture on them or furniture in the suite which can be schlepped out to the balcony. The kitchenettes are adequate and include a mini-dishwasher. - excellent self-serve although fairly standard-style breakfast bar wiith hovering service (we felt obliged to tip but you ought not), some items you can sneak to go without any disapproval (the fruit and yogurts were a godsend). - friendly and attentive staff. - the pool is small and almost too artful (with sharper edges for style that are not kid-friendly) but has a stunning view of the city from the top level penthouse. (Although the people who went back to their rooms in their suits, dripping on the elevators, were not appreciated, I can't blame them as the changing space near the pool area is quite limited and not advertised as such). The small fitness room has five or six pieces of equipment but also has a stunning view, fwiw. - parking available on-site with unlimited in and out (although see also: cons). - location, location, location! This is a fairly quiet little residential side area of Westmount, but only a block and a half from the Atwater metro stop, so it's very easy to get around from here. There's also a gajillion dining options within a few blocks' walk, including several small grocery stores. Cons: - unusable TV system, that requires one go back to a main menu for every change of the channel (no surfing) and which does not have an adequate program guide and only a few channels for kids. If you need to get the kids out of your hair for sanity when sharing a small suite and need to rely on an electronic baby sitter, it just doesn't work. They can easily upgrade this and they should. - housekeeping was a bit indifferent. It wasn't dirty, but they didn't replace towels one day when we put them in the "please replace" pile, got two bottles of lotion and no shampoo another day, and they didn't get the rugs vacuumed. We also didn't have enough bed covers and had to request them (although the front desk was right on the case). - parking garage, as noted in other reviews, is very old school and difficult to get in and out of. We just left the vehicle there, though. - price, in season, was a little on the high side (with taxes and parking and everything, close to C$300 a night), but to be sure we inadvertently found ourselves in the middle of multiple events, including the Women's World Cup, so it's to be expected. It was reasonable given the breakfast and convenience, as we saved some $ on food and transportation. - because it's an old converted high rise, it was missing amenities like room service, a restaurant, a large lounge area (the breakfast area was built instead) and a true concierge. There is a mini-store for late night munchies right next to the desk, in the modern fashion, and you can charge the items to your room. - the elevators are a disaster; two small elevators which seem to double as service elevators made for very slow and uncomfortable going up and down. This was particularly awkward with kids. Bottom line: a decent option for traveling with kids, if you can afford it, and if the business traveler can stand the kids hanging around, a good business suite option for a longer stay.

My stay at the Marriott in Westmount ended in me having 7 stitches in my foot and 8 stitches and a damaged tendon in my hand, requiring surgery due to a faulty shower door installation. The shower door slid off of the rails and slid right into the bathroom wall, exploding into pieces. The hotel staff responded to the emergency by bringing me a box of band-aids and a half used bottle of antiseptic. After calling 911 ourselves and spending a sleepless night at the hospital - I was then aggressively questioned by a member of the hotel management staff. The Marriott has since not compensated me anything. Their insurance company has been refusing to discuss anything with me and I am being forced to pay numerous legal fees, which I currently cannot afford. Please avoid this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here during one of our trips to Montreal. It's an older hotel that's obviously dated, but they are making updates (1 elevator has been updated, the other is painfully slow and the door opens before you are actually on the correct floor, eeks). They make up for it in congenial service and a breakfast buffet with more selections than I've ever seen at a FREE breakfast buffet. Since it's a Residence Inn, all the rooms are suites with a full kitchen (apartment-sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and stove top (no oven, but I never bake a cake or make a roast when I'm on vacation, so I didn't care, haha). There's a little dining table for 2 as well (so cute). Now those who know me know I bring Clorox wipes with me when I travel and I wipe down my hotel room when I arrive. If the wipe is still white, I am happy. Some wipes came out white, but some were light grey (mostly the ones in the bathroom). So not filthy, but not as clean as I would have liked. I also noticed some paint peeling in the bathroom and some stained spots on the carpet. That being said, the staff were so nice and service was great. Now, don't be expecting white gloved door men opening doors for you and pressing elevator buttons for you, I don't mean great service in that way, I mean in a more congenial kind of way. For example, a few minutes after we arrived in our room, the front desk called and asked if our room was ok. We noticed that the lamp next to the TV wasn't working, so we told them that and they sent someone to come up and fix it right away. Shortly after they called again to confirm that the problem was fixed. I thought this was really nice. Housekeeping staff were also very nice. They greeted us and wished us a good day every time we saw them. They also have free food on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights around 7pm. We only got to experience this on one evening (due to the length of our stay, and let's face it, if I'm in Montreal on vacation, I'm probably going to be out and about at 7pm, LOL). Anyway, it was dessert night that night. There was raspberry sponge cake, vanilla ice cream, and ingredients to make a sundae (shredded coconut, walnuts, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup and caramel syrup) and coffee and tea It was a nice unexpected extra. The free hot breakfast buffet was huge and with so much selection. There's a centre island, and they have the same thing on both sides of the island, so less lining up for food. They had 2 selections of eggs (that change daily). One day it was plain scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs with bell peppers and onions, the next day it was regular scrambled eggs and scrambled egg whites. Then they have 3 hot items. One day it was bacon, turkey sausage and home fries, and the next day it was spicy Andouille sausage, chicken sausage and baked beans. They had a fajita station for you to make your own breakfast fajitas complete with tortillas, shredded cheese, spinach, black olives, shredded cheese, and salsa. They had boiled eggs, sliced cheese (and not cheapy processed cheese, but Brie and Havarti!), 2 types of fruit salad, different types of yogurt, granola, 4 waffle makers, and toppings for your waffles (whipped cream, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, walnuts, and chocolate and caramel syrup). They had croissants (plain and chocolate), muffins, banana bread, bagels, English muffins, brown and white bread. Get this, they had hazelnut, vanilla and caramel flavoured syrup for your coffee! I am certain I've left out other stuff they had, but seriously it was the most selection I have ever seen at a FREE breakfast buffet. The rooms were a good size. The fitness centre is on the top level (penthouse) and the view out the windows is pretty. They had mostly cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. They had minimal free weights, but they had a weight machine. The gym was clean and looked relatively new (although the weight machine was kind of old/dated). There was a pool on the penthouse too (we did not use it). Location is a bit further west of the downtown action. Although it has "Westmount" in its name, it's not really in Westmount. I'd say it's in Shaughnessy Village. It's really close to Place Alexis Nihon (shopping centre) and the Middle-Eastern grocery store Adonis (they have amazing pastries). It's also close to Supermarché PA (which has really inexpensive groceries). Overall, an older/dated hotel. We paid with taxes and fees $165 a night (booked directly with the hotel). Service was great and lots of selection in the free breakfast buffet. WiFi was free and fast.

I would probably give this hotel a 2.5 if I could. It's not horrendous by any means. Serviceable is a good word to describe it. The elevator is slow, the breakfast is simple and hectic at times, and the rooms are decent. My room had a kitchenette, a small balcony, two beds, full bath, and a small family room area. My main complaint is the breakfast. Maybe its just because I am used to the breakfast at Embassy Suites, but I definitely felt like this breakfast was just subpar. They have a very simple set up with some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels with toasters on one part of the room. The middle part of the room is devoted to hot food, such as eggs, pancakes, or little egg and sausage burritos. Ultimately, I can handle the food being just ok, but its the size of the room given the hotel size. There must be something like 20 floors in this building, with 15-20 rooms on each floor, and the breakfast room maybe handles 100 people, at best? Its just too crazy, and I think most guests probably skip the breakfast altogether. Now, they do have an afternoon snack time that is nice, with simple water, lemonade, and cookies and such. It provides you with a nice respite after a long day exploring the beautiful city. Everything else about the hotel was just ok. Parking is located off-site, which is a drag, but the staff are friendly, the beds are clean, and the hotel is generally well-kept.

Breakfast buffet. Continental plus eggs, waffle maker, potatoes.

Great location on a quite street but close to shops and the metro. I would highly recommended this hotel, especially if you have some Category 1-4 certificates to use. Getting an upgrade was easy with elite status and the service was great. The hotel is old, but does not look dated. Would definitely go back again! We just had a small issue being charged for something erroneously, but a quick e-mail took care of it all.

Zero stars. Bugs. More specifically, roaches on the bed. Oh, did I mention the pillow roaches?

Checking in was very easy and they even said they were expecting me, which was very refreshing after the last hotel I stayed in for business, which was the Hilton in Richmond, VA at Short Pump in which the staff was very condescending and poor at checking people in, especially business travelers. This place definitely took great care at check in to make sure I felt welcomed, including asking me if I had any questions. She went over everything I needed to know about the property. When I got to the room I was impressed with the size of it - it was pretty large, with lots of open space, a decent desk, plenty of seating, and a very nice, clean, and comfortable bed which was fitted with ironed sheets! The TV in the room was disproportionately small and their streaming channel options were limited, but I made the best of it, as it's mostly background noise while I'm working anyway. The location is decent, only a couple of blocks from the Rue Sainte-Catherine shopping and dining area, which also has the Complexe Desjardins (a mall). There's a Metro station a block away as well. They have a decent size gym with all the normal stuff and a pretty nice, two-level lounge for those with access via their loyalty level. Overall, I'm enjoying the stay here and would return!

One standout was the gym, which is much better than what you typically find in hotels, with multiple treadmills, a stair stepper, ellipticals, and a solid selection of weights. They also have a two lane indoor pool and an indoor hot tub, which were nice added amenities. I especially appreciated that my room had a patio, it was great being able to get some fresh air. The only downside was the noise. There were very loud neighbours in the hallway with screaming and music playing until around 11:30 pm. I contacted the front desk and was told security would be sent up, but no one came and the noise continued past midnight. Overall, a solid hotel with great amenities, but the lack of follow through on the noise issue was disappointing.

I booked through hotels.com a 1 night stay on 1/2/24. So horrific: 1. The pictures are clean. The reality is a s-hole dump. Beer bottles and trash lined the walkway to the door. The entire building smelled of smoke. 2. Front desk staff barely communicative. 3. Room was FAR smaller than advertised and was also dirty. The room to which I was assigned looked like NOTHING IN ANY OF THE PHOTOS. 4. Public shared restroom: i did not even go in since everything else smelled like piss, cigarettes and beer, I figured the bathrooms were also disgusting. 5. Parking is off site; no bell hop or other staff to carry bags up two flights of stairs (no lift). The only plus is that I got a few dollars of one key rewards for walking in and out of a horriffic, unsanitary, smoky boarding home- far far below any consideration of the name "hotel." On the positive side, the rooms are big and clean. Every housekeeper we passed in the hall was incredibly warm and friendly. A couple things to note: 1) no valet, and 2) in our room, the shower feels like it's in the middle of the space and lacks basic privacy. Totally fine if you're with a best friend or partner, but I would've been mortified if I were sharing the room with anyone else. Not sure if it's just this layout or if all the rooms are like that. It's nice, but just a bit too much across the board. It's definitely a sexy hotel, great for bringing a spouse or significant other. But you'll want to be at a stage in your relationship where you're comfortable using the bathroom with the other person in the room - because there's almost no privacy. Glass walls and open layouts look cool, but they don't leave much to the imagination. If you love bold, highly styled spaces and don't mind a little flash over function, this could be perfect.
