One of the nice hotels in Montreal, located conveniently near a large shopping underground mall and within walking distance of the city's attractions, offers comfortable rooms and good service. However, the elevators can be slow at times. I encountered only one issue during my stay: the water stopped running in the middle of the morning. The hotel is slightly up to date and designed well . this is the perfect place to stay during the Montreal Jazz Fest. I was also surprised with the small gesture of balloons in the card for my birthday, which was just like what's pictured here when I walked in. The room was very clean all those slightly dated and the amenities of the entire building is amazing from a grocery store to an actual decent food court amongst other things like the mall.. Excellent location! We had a phenomenal week in Montreal. Highly suggest getting the hop on and off bus tickets from hotel concierge. Great way to start the trip and see a lot. Plus tickets valid for two days. Excellent daily breakfast and we loved the pool. At night it can get loud and lively towards the weekend from Wednesday but seems as if they have a noise curfew so that helps. We stayed on 17 floor and loved the views. It was also the first time we never heard the AC in the room. I wish more hotels had their set up. Cool and not noisy. We definitely would come back! Plus loved the city and want to explore more of Quebec. Merci! read more

Nice hotel located within a mall! Enjoyed my recent 2 night stay here as it was pretty central and not far from all of the places I needed to be. The front desk folks will give you pretty good chocolate chip cookies if you're nice to them. Room was comfy and a nice size...very comfy bed as well. Loved the side couch near the window to sit and work on in addition to the regular desk itself. There is a breakfast restaurant, but they charge a blanket price of 33 Canadian dollars to dine, even if you want something very small. Would stay here again for the right price. read more

Ok--I am super familiar with Doubletree and have stayed at countless properties over the last 20 years. They vary greatly in quality from motel-like dumps to elegant high end properties. Montreal Doubletree is kinda in the middle. Nothing to write home to mom about but also no visible roaches or mildew. The famous cookie continues to shrink and will soon be a one-bite wonder that is gone before your credit card is scanned. Bar is nice but the outside needs umbrellas or you will roast alive under the summer sun. Would I stay again? With a rate over $400/night---not likely. The value is not there for the $$$ spent. read more

I did a work event at the hotel recently but did not stay there. The hotel is within a shopping center and business park. The hotel lobby is up on an upper floor with the meeting rooms below. So it was a bit of a challenge to find the rooms. But once we did, they were great. The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating. One of the guys had worked at the hotel for something like 35 years. He was great. The AV guy was also very helpful. Good location. read more

We booked this hotel because it was centrally located and is within walking distance to all the sights in Montreal. We were pleasantly surprised at all the convivences located at this hotel. First, I'll talk about what we expected. The hotel is within easy walking distance to Notre Dame, Chinatown, and a number of tourist hot spots. Sainte-Catherine Street has a great number of souvenir shops and restaurants on it as well. The indoor pool was VERY deep, but there was always a lifeguard on duty and plenty of toys for the kids to play at. What we didn't expect was the hotel is the top few floors of a huge mall. There was even a grocery store, and drug store right there. We didn't need to go outside. It was great for getting sandwiches for our excursions through the city and made buying water and things we missed right away. The highlight was the food court. We got fresh pastries in the morning, and dinner at night when we were tired from a long day of walking. It made life a lot easier for a family that is traveling. We highly recommend this place as home base for your trip through Montreal. read more

This place was tough to find! fortunately I found the valet spot before the hotel. Valet parking was expensive but here were some self-park options available but didn't want to deal with the hassle. I took the elevator up to the check-in area. The check-in area was busy with airline personnel and there was only one person working the front desk so I put my bags in my work colleague's room and went to dinner. I checked in later after the line died down. I was pleased with the appearance of my room and the quality of the internet. The air conditioning did not meet my expectations but I suspect that the humidity from the rain outside impacted the humidity in my room. This place is located right next to a shopping mall but this whole area around the hotel is under construction and it takes an eternity to drive through the area. The valet parking was great (and expensive) and they had easy access to the vehicle. Overall 3 stars. read more

Its really all about the location! You can get to the train station without having to step foot outside. I got lost everyday and found a new route each time to the train station from indoors! No complaints there! Their executive lounge was decent, the people utilizing it was another story! I think the front desk should be explaining better that this Is NOT your dinner. It is a complimentary snack! Whole families were in the lounge eating the food like it was a buffet. Everyday was a different main dish but most days it went just as quick as they set it out. For me, hospitality was lacking but my upgraded room was a corner lot with the best view! I had a few very strange encounters both times I had to call the front desk who had security there in seconds so theres that! read more

They place a hold on your credit card for the FULL amount of the stay on your credit card and then they charge the FULL actual amount at check out. This leaves your credit card maxed out until it is reconciled. I have never had a hotel do this. The hold plus the actual charges on my card made it so I could not use my card for days until it was settled. Unfortunately, the front desk people were not helpful or responsive when you ask basic questions. Since I was at the hotel for several days - having to come back to a place with staff that was not very friendly put a damper on the experience in Montreal. I ended up having to stay an extra day due to flight issues at a different hotel (Marriott) and the difference in treatment was HUGE. Won't be staying at another Doubketree or Hilton if I can help it in the future. read more

Stayed here for a week for work. Not super impressed. The smell in the lobby was super strong (perfume-y). Katie at the front desk was great but some of the others were super rude. I will say though they were going through a worker strike at the time so I'll give them a pass here as some of the front desk workers had been working long hours. The one meeting space we were in had construction outside that was distracting and we had a mouse in the meeting space on one day as well. Rooms were fine, but again no housekeeping. A day or 2 no housekeeping is normally fine but to be there for 5 nights was a little rough. read more

Perfect location for us to explore the city. There's underground parking. So actually if you keep going down the ramp, you'll be parking under the mall. It's $15 over the weekend (no in and out), which saved us some $ for parking. The hotel lobby and amenities are gorgeous. The gym could be spruced up but it served its purpose. I really love the pool and the fact there's a deeper end. Front desk agents are fantastic!!! Super friendly and helpful. The check in and out process was so quick and easy! The rooms are alright. I was a bit disappointed to see the carpet had stuff in it and it was really dusty around the bed. The business table was also very scratched up in our room. But all in all, it was a great stay. Beds are comfy, standing shower is nice and spacious, and I love that Hilton is partnered with an eco conscious brand for the shampoos etc. I would definitely stay here again if I'm stopping in Montreal. read more

Great location but the Hotel is undergoing exterior renovations. There was exterior drilling on the exterior wall right beside our window in the morning. Very loud and shook the walls. They did not clean our room two times during our five night stay. We had to call (they did not answer their phone) or go down to the front desk reception to get someone to at least bring towels and empty the waste baskets. The shower drain was plugged and the repair person left dirty boot marks on the floor and the sliding bathroom door would not close completely as there was a 2.5 inch gap. The same repairman left boot marks on the toilet seat cover as he must have stood on it to fix the door. There was garbage left outside hallway beside our room door in the morning and it started to get more garbage, and was not picked up by any hotel staff until I went down to reception to complain in the late evening. A absolute maze to find! I dearly hope you are visiting when there is no construction. It was hell of a hard time for easily-get-lost-even-with-map-me to find this Hilton at night. Eventually, maybe an hour later, I was able to find the entrance to the hotel... Note it was on the side of the building. The only side where signs were visible...DURING THE DAY. The hotel itself, was nice but I wish they had some vegan treats to offer their guests besides the non-vegan warm chocolate chip cookies at the check-in counter :( I loved that there was a bluetooth wireless speaker in the room. Lots of space and comfortable. A good hotel to stay at for nearby events!... if you don't get lost. read more

Great location right smack in the downtown area. The hotel is a little awkward to check in once you arrive. If you are driving here park your car downstairs in the hotel self parking lot. Then take the elevator to the lobby to check in. Once you have checked in you take another set of elevators to get to your room. The rooms were a little smaller as we had 2 full size beds. Beds were comfortable but more importantly clean. The gym and pool area is spacious and well maintained. One of the main features staying here is the food court and mall is conveniently located downstairs. The food court serves up halal food, burgers, coffee and other quick little bites of food. The mall has many shops as well and a beautiful fountain that spouts water high up in the air accompanied by a cool light show and music. Like I said located right in the downtown area and walking distances to the local Chinatown and the Notre dame basilica. I was here for 2 nites and they had fashion shows with runway models outside the streets by the hotel, how cool is that? I would stay here again since the location and convenience is hard to beat. read more

I'm giving them three stars but I'm being generous. The reason being is it's a good location. At the time of this review, the hotel is under renovation. We had trouble finding the entrance to the place. After driving around the building fruitlessly, we pulled over to call the hotel and just then, I spotted a sign behind a high construction sign/fencing. It wasn't the least bit visible from the street. Thanks to Expedia, we didn't know the hotel was under renovations, so it was a further disappointment to walk in and see an empty pool. By empty, I mean no water in it but in fairness, it does say it's under renovations on their website. They do give you these really fabulous warm chocolate chip cookies when you check-in that are to die for. If I could sum up the overall appearance of the hotel I would say it's dark, gloomy and dated. Our room itself was mediocre. There was a 'hard as rock' sofa in the room and stupid cardboard letters over the bed instead of a picture. See pic. There were no customary wine glasses and it's one towel each. The hotel is situated above Place Desjardins shopping centre and beside Place Des Arts and the modern art museum. It's walking distance to Old Montreal. As with a lot of hotels, the coffee supplied in the rooms is horrendous! So if u do go, I'd advise you to bring your own keurig pods from home. read more

A good high end hotel. Somehow we got an amazing deal so even though we aren't into fancy hotels when we travel, we had to take advantage of the opportunity. The hotels location is worth the price alone. It is situated in the heart of the city so we were able to walk to pretty much anywhere in the city. This was good because the traffic is rough and we didn't want to deal with taxis. The hotel is attached to a mall with an amazing food court so it was never a problem to find our next meal. The hotel is also next to a metro station which is good for easy travel but also good because the food court was open nice and early for a quick and easy breakfast. The amenities at the hotel are wonderful. The rooms are nice and modern and spacious and the beds are super soft. We had 2 nights here and it was like sleeping at home! Maybe if we got another great deal we would stay here. We had a good time! read more

Since I was just staying one night in Montreal and wouldn't be in my room much, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency since it is close to where I needed to be. The bed was comfy! I'm not a fan of this hotel: * The rooms are dated and in need of upgrading (though the lobby has recently had an extensive renovation). * The bath tub isn't very deep and the faucet and showerhead aren't centred and are off to the side. * You have to take an elevator from the lobby to the room, which is standard ... but the four elevators are sooooooooooo slow and take forever to come and then get you where you want to go. Then to get out of the lobby and onto the street or the mall that's attached, you have to take other elevators. The plus is that it's on Rue St-Catherine so it's handy to shopping and restaurants. read more

Picked this hotel after looking at the pictures online and was staying here during the winter holidays. The hotel looks decent from the outside. When you first enter there's a door boy who offers you help if needed. The hotel is located on a higher floor. The lobby of the hotel was really nicely designed but everything after that looks old and rubbed down. The elevators are really old. The hallways of the hotel rooms smelt really old. The rooms were really worn down. The roof looked broken. The room had a chunk of paper towel on the floor when we first entered. The room was really dim. The fridge made really loud buzzing noises. The shower didn't work properly. The water sprayed in many different directs but barely hits you. The only good thing was that the bed was comfy. Check out took forever. There was only one person working during the holidays. This place remind me of an old motel. They really need a make over. I wasn't expecting to pay $200+ a night for this quality of hotel. I feel like I've been scammed. Its supposed to be a luxury hotel. I was expecting more for a Hyatt hotel. You're better off staying somewhere else then staying here. But they have a good location though. read more

Hopefully you enjoy loud concert music outside your window until 1 am. If so this is the place for you. Don't make the rookie mistake that I made and accept a room that even remotely faces the concert area. They suckered me in at check in saying it's not too loud but here we are listening to the incessant loud music. Maybe other side of hotel is bearable but this side is truly ridiculous. Planned on spending the weekend but might not be able to stand it. The DoubleTree Downtown Montreal is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a stylish and comfortable stay, in an extremely walk-able location. I am very loyal to Hilton brands and stay with them weekly for business purposes in the states. For my trip to Montreal, I wanted to use reward points and this was a great value for what I got. The hotel has just undergone a huge renovation after Hilton took over. The guestrooms are all updated with new decor and furniture. The beds and bedding are wonderful and very comfortable. The bathroom is small, but functional. I am personally not a fan of sliding doors that seem to be the big trend in hotels right now. They offer little privacy in my opinion.. but not a deal breaker! Great sound proofing as well. Could not hear any of the hustle and bustle of the city which is always appreciated. Our room had a beautiful view of the city including the Stade Olympique, Mount Royal, and Place des Arts. The facilities such as the bar and restaurant on the reception level are all great. The complimentary breakfast buffet for diamond members was really nice and had a great variety of options for me and my travel companion. The place is extremely snazzy and posh looking, which is what you'd expect for Downtown Montreal. Another great perk of this location is how walk-able it is! We walked to Old Montreal in about 10 minutes or less to visit some great tourist sights. 20 minutes or so down Saint-Catherine Street and we were in the Village. Head the other direction on Saint-Catherine and you are surrounded by some great high end shopping. Also extremely close to the Central Station to catch a train if needed. The hotel itself is part of the Complexe Desjardins and is attached to the underground city which is pretty neat. Lots of restaurants, shops, and fast food available if needed, all without going outside. Good for the winter or rainy days. Just a heads up, there is still a bit of work being done around the property and some of the entrances can get confusing. But it did not inconvenience us in the slightest. The staff was extremely friendly in both French and English and we had no issues whatsoever. We can't wait to come back to Montreal and will hands down stay here again. The hotel manager Teresa even left a personal note welcoming us to the city and hotel. Such a nice, personalized touch! Because of the million dollars views from my Executive Club room, I rate my recent stay at this Hyatt a 4.3 stars and great value for my money, since the US$ is stronger than the C$. Management and staff were very helpful, professional and courteous. The house keeping team kept my room spot less. The king size bed is nice and firm and the room, while less than 400 square feet, is spacious because of cleaver placement of furniture, which are minimalist. There is very little storage room and the in room refrigerator could barely keep my beverages chill -- thank goodness, the ice machine is a short walk from my guest room on the same floor. The bathroom is compact and very much in need of a complete overhaul -- everything works and the shower head is robust. I was staying by myself to get some much needed sleep and rest so the room was adequate for my modest needs. The clock radio is cheap. The small in-room refrigerator hardly worked at all but it kept my bottled water somewhat cool. The in-room safe worked. True, everything needs to be replaced and soon! The included breakfast (with my Executive Club room that I paid extra for through Expedia) is alright with limited selections (I stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago and recall the breakfast to be a feast that kept me full almost an entire day until 7 pm or 8 pm.). The bar is huge and has great potential (same as it was 10 years ago). It's a really nice space but the food and beverages leave much to be desired (but it's nice the kitchen is open until 11:30 pm) and I suggested to management the menu should reflect Montreal and Quebec cousins, not run of the mill steaks that I could get anywhere. The location of this hotel is the best in Montreal -- one does not need to go outside to get to the shopping malls "attached" and part of the hotel and the opera house across the new festival and art plaza. I was there to decompress and restore my health. The 90 minutes massage I received from a petite female therapist on my 2nd day helped me sleep well the rest of my 6 days stay. It's nice that my Executive Club guest room comes with high speed internet (WiFi) and all calls throughout Canada and the US are free! This hotel has the potential to be a 5 stars like a Four Seasons but lots of money need to be invested in doing so, but because of its prime location, the likely returns on investments justify having a second 5 stars hotel in Montreal -- Ritz Carlton claims to be a 5 stars hotel (let me stay there for a week for free and I'll let them them know if the self proclaimed 5 stars is justified). read more

We stayed at the Doubletree in June. Perfect weather meant lots of exploring on foot. Location (5). Located a block from the Metro Green Line (Place de Arts), it was easy to get around the city utilizing transfers to the other lines. Adjacent to a mall, 1 block from Starbucks. Rooms (4). Clean and efficient. Great air conditioning (didn't easily notice it going on and off). Exceptional bed. Room was small. Service (5). Front desk was efficient and friendly. While at Jay Peak, VT the man and I decided we didn't want to drive the 8 hours home and with us both having a holiday the next day, we decided to have a pit stop in #Montreal, one of my favorite cities. I booked the Hyatt Regency for less than a $100 via Hotwire. Located in a very convenient neighborhood, literally in between the Old Port, Chinatown & St. Catherine, it's super central. If you're looking for a roof over your head and it's at a good price, the Hyatt is perfect. So why 3 stars? I've said this before and I'll say it again, this gal likes her luxury and especially when in a city like Montreal, I want charm and ambiance. What I really liked about the Hyatt: 1) A parking garage attached - for the MTL winters this is crucial. It was $20 for 24 hours. 2) So friendly. The concierge was a delight. 3) The hotel lobby and bar area is pretty up to date with a hip vibe not quite there. They are definitely going for the W type look. 4) The room was nice and bed comfy. What I really didn't like about the Hyatt: 1) The bathroom was that of a Motel 6. Dark, a bit dingy, small and cramped. 2) The room itself was dark. 3) Pretty generic feeling. 4) The alarm went off at 6AM. That should be on the checklist for all maids: turn off the alarm. I'd definitely stay again at the Hyatt Regency if it's the cheapest option, but I'd also spend a few bucks more if I had the option to stay with a bit more luxe. read more

The best thing about this hotel is the location, seriously great spot right on Saint Catherine- go down either way and there's a ton to do, see, and eat. It's also walking distance to Old Montreal. I also think the hotel bar is pretty nice, love all the fireplaces and the dark, swanky atmosphere. The indoor pool is also really pretty and has a great view of the city. I definitely spent some time lounging there... They should have a bar though! Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of our room. It was mostly clean and the hotel staff was nice, and the AC worked just fine, but the toilet handle was broken, the wifi didn't work on our phones at all, half of the outlets didn't work (I woke up with a dead laptop when I thought it'd been charging all night), and the USB ports so conveniently located on the nightstand lamps didn't work either. There's no balcony and the lighting in the room was awful- especially in the bathroom. Like... Green. I don't know, the room just wasn't... Nice. I probably wouldn't choose to stay there again. read more

Hotel amenities are your typical offerings. The bar/lounge was cool. Very stylish and modern. Plus they had a wine tasting type of machine that was really cool too! Indoor pool, pool table but wish they had a gym! Room was the standard 2 double bed. Modern, nothing crazy. They offer lots of room types and the suites look pretty good! With the hotel being connected to the shopping complex, there's a BUNCH of food options just floors below you at the food court. There's a grocery, bank and shops connected as well! Only downside to this place is the inconvenience of having the front desk/concierge so small, could be a long wait at times. Also being on the 6th floor is inconvenient. You have two elevator rides to get to your room. One up to the 6th floor where the lobby is, and another to get up to the rooms. There are only two elevators in the lobby areas, recommended you go behind the valet stand and take the elevator from the shopping complex up to the lounge behind the reception area. Much faster! Train Station is across the street at Places De Artes so transportation throughout the city is easy! Hotel points were used so can't speak of it budget wise opposed to other hotels, but this was a great place to stay! read more

During my first trip to Montreal for a combination of business and pleasure, this hotel was ideally, centrally, and visibly located...the tall buildings beside it made it easy to find while walking, even without GPS. The complex beneath is pleasant (but some businesses close early), and it's possible to walk underground the entire way to the Convention Center several blocks away. China Town is on one side (some restaurants are open very late), shopping and coffee (Second Cup...yum!) are further down St. Catherine in the business district, and The Village in the opposite direction is fun. Old Port and Notre Dame are a 15 minute walk, and the streets that way are good. The easy to use subway is also accessible via the underground complex below. Casino is over on the island, accessible by subway/bus combo or $20 taxi ride. My advice is to have the concierge arrange for Westin Limousine to take you to the airport. It's around $60 US. This is a nice hotel, but it's more business oriented than of a romantic nature. I found it to be pleasant and relaxing, though, with good views of the Art Museum and the crowds below. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I found a decent deal online, and the hotel was a good value for that price. average at best, mediocre as we experienced it. They seem to be short staffed. It would take minutes for them to answer their phone if you called down to 0. We had a friend who was trying to call the hotel and get our room, he had to call repeatedly and eventually we just had to use our cell phones because the hotel would not answer. We experienced the same "hotel not answering" before check-in. The check-in counter was the only place in the hotel to find an employee, and there was always a 15 minute wait at the desk no matter what time of the day you were there. We redeemed a Hyatt rewards for a check in gift of a bottle of wine and cheese at check in. Unfortunately it never, ever came to the room. The staff didn't know why nor really care to investigate further when we told them to just forget it. This was set up as a business/convention type hotel but on the weekends they seem to do a lot of priceline/hotwire type deals, the place was loaded with kids everywhere. The staff here lacks attention to any detail, which translates into a mediocre hotel. The hotel itself is getting dated but is average in accommodations. read more

I got mine from Priceline, so the price was more reasonable than you'd see from them directly, but it's not like Priceline is a secret. I'll admit, I didn't take advantage of the hotel's facilities; I didn't use room service or the pool. But they are all there. If you go here, you're right downtown. You can hop on the metro and head wherever you'd like. I hope I stay here again sometime. read more

Hyatt has gone through some renovations and the new lobby and lounge are pretty chic compared to their older more dated feel. It's starting to remind me of something out of Las Vegas now vs Las Vegas in the 90s. The space is pretty cool, the staff are friendly all around and it's in a nice central location. If you can literally hop, skip and jump in any direction and you'll have something to do. Chinatown? Down the street! Want a slightly older European feel? Head down towards Old Montreal. Shopping? St Catharines St all day! Good food? OK you can really go in any direction for some of that. Old Montreal, St Laurent, there's some nice meals. Want to go clubbing? St Laurent, Cresent St...OK you get my point. There's lots to do! With all that has been spent in this area I don't think anything has changed in the rooms. They're still kind of dark and dingy but maybe they're still working on them. There are no issues with the strikes that I've seen some people mention but there is a lot of construction on Jeanne Mance which really I can't fault the hotel. Come by for the location and get some good zzzzs on the beds, they're comfortable. read more

As they say in real estate: Location. Location. Location. Not only is the Hyatt right at the heart of downtown, the hotel is above a large shopping mall where you can get anything from fashion boutiques to grocery and wine. It is also above the subway which make it very convenient. When there are summer festivals, you are right where everything is happening. The room, amenities, service, etc. are all excellent and up to Hyatt Regency standard. However, be prepared to pay for it, as most nights, depending on seasonality, will run close to $300 a night for a standard room, NOT including parking and Internet service. read more

Unacceptable. Hotel charges $10 / wine and $5.50 for a fizzy water at a conference reception. Unacceptable. Hotel also charges $13 / day for internet usage, whether you're a guest or a visitor. Unacceptable. read more
