@hotalcolombo is one of the only Sri Lankan restaurants in the city so we were looking forward to eating here. Not sure if it's considered to be 100% authentic but as with many restaurants, it's probably leaning a little towards fusion to appease local tastes. Regardless, it was still pretty good. The chilli fried potatoes were delicious. Can't go wrong with spicy fried potatoes. Probably the most authentic thing in the menu, the hoppers were light and airy. Perfect for sopping up sambol and other bits. The fried shrimp was arguably the best item, however "fusiony" it was. Cooked to perfection and tons of flavour. But my favourite dish was the kothu. You can tell they used freshly baked bread in it. It had the perfect texture, sometimes crispy, chewy, and light. One thing that stuck out to me though was the size of the table. We had 4 ppl but had a tiny little table that was hard to navigate. The food was solid and the service was good so I recommend this place if you are adventurous and want something out of the ordinary.
