I decided to drop into Hot Wok Cafe as I was driving past, and used to work there 6 years ago, back when the shop was owned by Wokinabox.
I ordered a combination blackbean with no vegetables and rice instead of noodles. The lady was nice and seemed to understand what I was saying, asking if I would be happy to pay x amount for the meal considering the changes.
Fast forward until when I get home, and it contains 70% vegetables and 30% meat, in the meat portion of the takeaway container. I was not particularly impressed with this, as I only eat vegetables raw, and ended up having to chuck out a substantial amount of the meal, left feeling a bit hungry.
Whilst this experience has annoyed me, I will try and be impartial. The meats did taste nice, and the blackbean sauce was reasonably strong, which I like, definitely better than the blackbean sauce used at my local Noodlebox.
Will I visit them again? Perhaps one day, though I will be checking to make sure that no mistakes are made. I have no faults based on the food itself. The lady was friendly enough, though it did take several minutes of standing around to be served. I wouldn't discourage other people from visiting, if wanting an easy takeaway option. read more
