Delicious Shrimp Double!
Patricia M.

Delicious shrimp and chicken doubles with some refreshing sorrel in the pics! We've also had their chicken and goat roti, and enjoyed it! Awesome service from Annie and her staff, thank you!

Doubles w/ chicken

The young lady who help me was very friendly and helpful... I've never tried this kind of food before so I just randomly walked in to grab a quick bite nothing too heavy and that was fast. The chicken doubles were amazing I want to go back and get four more, two was not enough. I'm for sure going to come back and try other options on the menu and the restaurant was pretty clean!

The good: the food is AWESOME. The flavors are on Point. Everything is freshly made in house. You'll get to experience authentic, home-cooked Trinidadian delights. Great variety, seasonal and holiday items, and also desserts and drinks. I often try something new and each time I do I am never disappointed. Not so good: because the food is so good this place is very popular. So if you're going on a weekend or the evening you are better off calling your order in ahead of time. Today we waited 25 minutes for our food and was about to leave. It gets crowded and they need a better process for taking and for filling orders. A couple of people walked out because they didn't want to wait till that is lost business.

buss up shut dhal pouri with pumpkin & chana

I was super excited to find a roti shop in the area and Hot on D Spot did not disappoint in the slightest! I ordered a dhal puri with fillings of pumpkin and chana. The dhal puri had a good proportion of split peas to roti. I asked for hot sauce and the amount was perfect to give the filling a kick of spice. The portion was massive and well worth the $8-I could only eat half and saved the rest for later. Service was quick, I placed my order for pickup and the food was hot and ready by the time I arrived 15 minutes later.

Boneless curry chicken wrap with potatoes and chickpeas. Also, ordered ginger beer which was very good.

OMG! This small restaurant put out the best curry chicken and roti that I haven't had in a while. I found it on Yelp". Very friendly Indian women greet my husband and I. We ordered the boneless chicken wrap with potatoes and chickpeas was soooo goooooood, they got the season right. The wrap was huge. I should have ordered one and split with my husband but we took the remainder home. I ordered three roti and boneless curry chicken to go. I must say the flavor and the amount were on point. We will be going back to try the curry duck and salt fish and bake. I can't wait to visit this business again.

I was put on to this spot by a co-worker who happens to be trini. Located in the strip mall at the light across from Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton Parking is easy A few tables inside to sit if you wanted Staff was extremely friendly and attentive.... Indra was super sweet. I prefer Dhal Puri roti skin vs the plain/buss up shut roti skin in general ... the powdered chick peas give the roti more flavor... tried the boneless chicken . You have option for bone or boneless . You also can opt to have your meat or vegetables wrapped up inside the roti or on the side It's a huge portion - you can share it with someone or you are guaranteed to take a doggy bag home The chicken dhal puri was delicious! It's good with their pepper sauce which is basically trini hot sauce They also had dessert/ baked goods like currant roll I saw another patrons oxtail dinner and it looked delicious I will definitely be back :p

Brown stew chicken

Tried Hot on the Spot on the Roti in Hamilton New Jersey. I've eaten here for before and had the shrimp roti which was good! I'm trying to brown stew chicken today and I was hot happy! My rice was cold, not room temperature but cold! I cannot eat cold rice, anybody who knows how to cook knows that cold rice is a turnoff! Giving three stars because the restaurant is clean and staff friendly but I was disappointed with my food today!

Unfortunately, they were out when I arrived, which was a bit of a letdown since that was the main reason for my visit. That said, I pivoted and ordered a double instead, and it turned out to be a solid choice. The double was flavorful, especially with the added peppers, and everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. At just $3, it's hard to argue with the value -- a very fair price for a quick, satisfying bite. Overall, the food itself was good and definitely scratched the Caribbean street-food itch. The ambiance was standard and clean. My only real disappointment was the lack of salt and bake, since it's something I was genuinely looking forward to trying. Still, if you're in the area and craving an affordable, tasty double, this spot delivers. I'll likely give it another shot in hopes of catching the full menu next time.

This restaurant was a clean, bright space with a good selection of Caribbean drinks and snacks…read more Maybe 5 or 6 eat-in tables as you enter. The woman who took my order was great. Ordered 4 deconstructed rotis: 2 chicken and potato, a goat and a jerk chicken. 3 with paratha root and 1 with buss up shut. All were super tasty-deep and (not too) spicy flavor, really good sized portions (it gave me 3 meals) and packed nicely. substitutes for the curried potatoes that typically go along with the meal are available. I would personally get the buss up shut variety of roti or opt for the wrapped version in the future the chickpea filling was quite messy due to my error of ripping it. A very satisfying meal nonetheless. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other offerings.

Just be mindful it's a fish and there are bones-- easy to see and pull out. My dish sides included rice and beans, cooked cabbage and fried plantains. Spectacular dinner.
