Loved it! Got the doubles and a roti with spinach and potatoes. They were both so good that I'm still thinking about the food the day after. The roti was so impossibly large that I can't believe I ate the whole thing. Seriously, I wish I had a scale. It wouldn't surprise me if it topped two pounds. And really, that's my only complaint. I really wish they offered a smaller version of their roti so I wouldn't have to feel like such a pig after I've demolished both that and an order of doubles. You could say, "Just skip the doubles, then." In which case, I would be forced to smack you. There is no skipping the doubles. The doubles are fantastic. So soft and comforting. So deeply flavorful. Without a smaller roti, I might have to make do with just getting a double order of doubles and making a meal out of those. But I do really want to get back and try the goat, so I guess it will just be another day when my giant HODS lunch kills my appetite for dinner. read more

I came here a "Doubles" virgin and realized that I can no longer live without their chickpea goodness in my life. I normally would not review a place having only eaten one thing there (I was there just to pass an hour time between meetings), BUT the manager was SO friendly that I know I will be returning. I merely asked him what was in a Double and not only did he describe it deliciously, but also had me come over to watch it be made. I'm sure it was partially bc I was a girl in a pencil skirt and 5 inch heels...BUT I still appreciate the effort. As the other review said, the place is not huge, but they do have a few tables that you can sit down to eat. Because of this, I can spot a fraud or a place that is flat out stealing money be serving poor renditions of Caribbean food.. This place here is about as authentic as it gets. The smell from the spices will have you wanting to order everything. But the portions are so huge that you couldn't possibly eat it all. My first visit, I chose the beef roti.. The second, I had two doubles.. shrimp and chicken. The pleasant change in what to eat is worth the drive.... the menu is pretty large, with all of your favorites made daily. Came here with the family. Being from Trinidad, we ordered doubles, skins; curry chicken; curry goat; and ginger drink. Every was tasty and hot. Bara fresh, soft, fluffy. May need more pepper sauce. My friend and I each got a chicken double and 1 beef roti to share. It was so delicious and so filling! I've never tried Trinidadian food before, so it reminded me of a mix between Caribbean + Indian flavors - which is not a bad thing at all. Who doesn't love a warm curry flavored dish! We got veggie roti with pumpkin and chickpeas, goat roti and oxtail soup. They were all in large portion (we did not know), so you can share the food if you are not a big eater :) We end up finished the goat roti because the meat was cooked so well...the meat melt in your mouth. The spices were well put together for both veggie & goat roti. Finally, the oxtail soup can feed 3 people for sure. It reminded us the Asian Indian curry we like... thick, creamy soup with root-types veggies and oxtail included. The service was very friendly. I've been going to this place since it opened years ago and honestly thought I had done a review but seems like I never did so better late than never. It seems like it has gone through some ownership changes unless the workers just changed but just as in the past, the ones behind the counter offer you great customer service and friendliness. My dad grew up in Trinidad and I've been to Trinidad so very familiar with everything on their menu. I brought two young co-workers to try it out and they loved it. The only thing is there is limited seating so if ever crowded, which sometimes it is, having a spot to eat can be challenging. I started off with two doubles, one for each of them which they loved. I also got the hot sauce on the side. To me Trini hot sauce is the most flavorful but also very spicy. I always get it on the side and dip as I go. I also got stew chicken with black eye peas and rice (no callaloo available. Previous owners use to have it but maybe they don't now which is a shame), curry chicken with dhalpuri roti separate (as compared to a wrapped roti with the chicken inside separately you get more sauce to dip the roti in) this has ground chick peas in the roti which adds more flavor and texture), and Solo soda. Eating meals here brings me back to Trinidad especially with the Calypso music playing in the background. As good as the food is though, the people who work here are also stars, they really aim to please. They also offer goat and oxtails. If you've never had Trini food or enjoy Trini food, you must try out this place. read more

1. Food Nice roti. Very tasty with juicy stuffings and a lot of spice. I am not familiar with their cuisine style, but it's obviously satisfying my Asian tongue. The deserts are pretty sweet and on the heavy side. I also feel I have enough percentage of veggies in the meal due to the food combinations. So if you have health/diet concerns, maybe it's not the best choice. However, if you are looking for yummy stuffs, then you are at right spot. 2. Beverages They have some ethics soft drinks too. I don't know what they are, I have to google on site to see what they are made of. I guess those need some kind of acquired taste to enjoy. 3. Environment It's not the fancy place for sure, but we are not looking for fancy here anyway. Only complaint is that the day I went, they don't have AC. 4. Staffs They are quite friendly. I'm baffled by the rating this place gets. I've eaten there twice (gave it a second try) and I'm not mistaken, this is the worst Trinidadian restaurant I've eaten at. I had the curry chicken which lacked salt. The chicken was not bad but the gravy had a rancid smell to it. The curry goat was of poor quality, lots of bones and the gravy lacked salt. The doubles were okay at best but I made a bad decision to add shrimp and chicken. Again, the lacked salt and poor flavor. I ended up throwing out the curry goat, curry chicken and shrimp. I did finish the doubles by itself. I would never eat here again. I'm West Indian and have dined at hundreds of West Indian restaurants and this one ranked last. read more

When I took my first bite it was insane happiness, the roti is perfectly moist and thin. It tasted like home and real ingredients. Funny enough, I accidentally took a bite of my boyfriends chicken roti and I'm a vegetarian. A Trini friend of ours had recommended this place but for various reasons, it slipped off our radar for many months. We ordered take out today (finally!) and boy the food was actually hot on d spot! In the Caribbean, the combo of bread and curry is called roti unlike in Indian cuisine where it refers to the hand made bread alone. The roti could be served either in a wrap form or separate from the curry. We got an order of the chicken roti, one order of the stew chicken (comes with a side of rice and choice of vegetable) and two orders of the vegetarian roti. Each order of the vegetarian roti has a choice of two items. So we decided to get Pumpkin and Spinach in one order and Channa (Chickpeas) and Potato in the other. Chicken curry was very flavorful so was the stew chicken. The spinach, potato and channa were nice. The pumpkin was a bit too sweet for us. The roti was enormous and filled with a dry mixture comprised of channa dal (split chickpeas) and spices. Hence the full name Dhal Puri roti. Makes an excellent vehicle to soak up the curries. The owner Roy is very friendly and he gave us this home made scorching hot sauce made out of Moruga Scorpion peppers (which displaced the bhoot jolokia for the title of spiciest pepper in the world at 2 Million Scoville heat units). This sauce definitely deserves respect. We are chilli heads but we felt that a little was enough. Very flavorful hot sauce but a little goes a long way. Last but not the least we tried two of the traditional drinks. Sorrel and Mauby Bark juice. Both are very acquired tastes from what we felt (especially the latter) not likeable at first try. Mauby Bark tastes a bit like root beer but has a very bitter aftertaste. Sorrel is a sour drink with notes of cinnamon. Overall this place deserves to be high on the charts for serving really tasty ethnic food from Trinidad and Tobago. Looking forward to the next visit and to try the doubles (a famous trini fast food snack comprising of fritters and curried chick peas). read more

First off, the owner and staff were extremely friendly. You really feel welcome the minute you get there. As it was my first time there, I went with the chicken roti for starters. Being Indian, the roti that I'm usually exposed to is quite different. But I was blown away! The spices and flavors were different but also very familiar. The roti was excellent! Loved the filling. Awesome rotis and other amazing Trinidadian food. Been here a couple times, and have sampled the beef, oxtail, duck, and goat. All are delicious, packed with flavor, and incredibly fresh. Love it here. We come for lunch a couple times a month and it is well worth the 30 minute drive for us. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Doubles and shrimp roti with pumpkin and spinach are my favorites. They frequently have specials like conch or eggplant that are delightful too. My husband has too many favorites to list them all. My daughter loves doubles with chicken. If you haven't had Trinidadian food before, definitely give this place a try. You can have things made spicy, or mild (if you're a wimp like me). This place is a hidden gem. My 1st time trying Trinidadian food and....yum! It reminded me of a mix of Jamaican and Indian food. So basically, super delish! The woman working the counter was so friendly and helpful. She even offered us a free double since it was our 1st time visiting.
