The person working the front was super helpful with the menu and also hooked it up a bit with the curry and fries. Took about 10-12 minutes to prepare three sandwich combos, didn't felt long at all! Sandwich wasn't overly battered and it had the right amount of slaw and sauce. Big fan of the spicy sauce that goes with the sandwich too! Regular curry was okay but the spicy curry had the best spice and seasoning! Also the emo jams playing while eating my sandwich really took me back to middle and high school, I loved it lol. Definitely plan to come back as I want to try the walnut shrimp sando and will be recommending this place to my OC friends. Thanks for the sticker! :D

Okay katsu sandwiches that work for a lunchtime fix…read more Went for a weekday lunch. There is paid lot parking ($5) or metered street parking, which should be easy enough to get during the weekday. Ordered the original chicken sandwich. Was decently sized and well cooked, but lacked a bit of flavor to it. There was a sauce on the side that reminded a little of a hot sauce I've had before (either Cholula or red rooster maybe?). That helped with the flavor. May need to try some of the other types of sandwiches with curry perhaps. Would have been 4 stars but they do not offer tap water or flat water outside of bottled Fiji, which is bit expensive to have with a simple sandwich. So I ate my sandwich without something to wash it down with. Sad times.

It's a thick piece of chicken with crispy coating and the spice is so flavorful. The medium had me sweating! This time, we decided to try the Chinatown location since the traffic going toward Pasadena looked terrible. This location is pretty small and doesn't really seem set up for dining in. It feels more takeout-focused, although they do have some tables outside so we sat there. They didn't have the Mild+ spice level that the Pasadena location offers so I ordered two Mild and one Medium chicken tenders. I also got a side of collard greens after seeing several reviews recommending them. I felt like the spice level was higher at this location than at the Pasadena one. Even the Mild was definitely spicier than I remembered! It still had really good flavor, though. I also really enjoyed the collard greens and was glad I decided to try them. I'm not sure if it's just this location or if all of their locations do this now but they also gave us bottled water for free, which was nice. One thing I really liked about the Chinatown location was the parking. There's a huge parking lot across the street so finding a spot was easy. I prefer the Pasadena location for dining in but its parking lot is very small and finding a spot can be difficult. We'll definitely go back to Howlin' Ray's when we visit LA again next spring. We just haven't decided which location we'll choose next time!

The food absolutely delivered. We tried the Op Boys Special sloppy joe and the Craw Mac Deluxe, and both were excellent. The jambalaya was another standout and easily something I'd order again. Service was on point, and they have a seriously impressive selection of drinks. There's plenty more on the menu I want to try, so I'll definitely be back.

We were walking back from Union Station after a…read moreDodger game and as we were walking by I was curious to see if the restaurant was actually open. The exterior looks like it should be, but unfortunately many restaurants have been closing in this part of the city. Luckily, it was indeed open and the interior was VIBRANT! The design was colorful, filled with hand chalked signs of the menu, and everything, from the tables to the art on the walls, burst with personality. This is a place where minimalism doesn't exist and instead, it spends every opportunity to showcase who it is. Ordering is relatively simple. You walk over to the counter and tell them what you want. Everything is made to order so it'll take some time, but when it comes to refreshments you can see their large selection of different drinks in their glass case refrigerator on the side. My junior high years inspired me and I had to get an Arizona ice tea. It came in clutch as refreshment considering how hot the day was. On one wall there was a huge TV showing the Fifa World Cup games. It caught my eye and so we decided to dine in instead of taking it to go. Great choice by the way since hot food is best to eat right away. And what exactly did I get? Their po' boys of course! You have to keep it classic. We had the popcorn shrimp po' boy and it was fantastic. Meaty, tangy from the sauce, and with the right amount of green in their fluffy but structurally intact bread, I believe I finished this in five minutes cause it was so good. My hunger didn't dissipate quickly so I had to go back for round two. The Debris Fries caught my eyes. Fries smothered with their brown gravy and cheese, it was a delicious disaster and warmed my belly and fulfilled my appetite. I was one happy food belly dad. Being connected to a small store with neon lights highlighting some of the hot sauces and merchandise you can buy on one side while connected to the pub next door on the other side, The Little Jewel of New Orleans is one of those places you take good friends to when you want to show them a special place where the food is delicious, the vibes are immaculate, and the experience unforgettable. Whether you have to find an excuse to come out here or the restaurant is the excuse, make your way to The Little Jewel of New Orleans the next time you're around Chinatown. You won't regret it. Bring that appetite with you!

Plenty of noodles and beef to go along with it + all the sides. I would go back again when I'm around. Very filling and comforting bowl of soup!!! The sugarcane juice was so so good. There's a hint of orange in it for added flavor, and it works perfectly. It's a bit expensive at 7 dollars, but it hit the spot. Honestly, I'm not hesitant to spend 7-10 dollars on a cup of coffee, so maybe it wasn't truly that expensive. The restaurant itself is fairly unassuming and may not look as fancy and in order as some more new wave places, but the flavors here can't easily be replicated. Easily some of the better pho I've had in LA. Granted, i was really hungry, so that could have factored into the score. Places like this are what i love so much about Chinatown. The atmosphere inside is incredibly welcoming and there was a steady flow of customers coming for the Vietnamese coffee. I'm sad i didn't get to explore this part of the city during its prime, but im happy places like Gigo's are still around to enjoy and appreciate. Give it a try if your around the area and craving some pho.

Since we were trying to eat at as many places without feeling food coma'ed out, we ordered 1 Corn Beef Silog. Calamansi Tonic Espresso and Black Mamba. The Corn Beef Silog was really solid, it was also deep fried in a Panko Crusted outer layer which is their take on a Croquette. We particularly like the crunch it adds to the dish. But yeah it was the corn beef has we were looking for mixed with the good 'ol garlic rice and sunny side up egg. The vinegar they used was a lot stronger than I thought and I think they could do without it. The tonic espresso grew on me, upon first sip, I could taste the tonic and I haven't had tonic before so I wasn't feeling it. Until I mixed it and it got a lot better. What was really cute too, is they have pop up vendors and it was a bread and dessert vendor that are right across the counter. What caught my eye was this apron that was a collaboration between Garden and Seeds x Lasita. It had so many pockets and it went from a short apron to a long one with just a zipper. I bought this for the sole purpose of wearing it as an accessory as Tan/Brown pairs well with black and white clothing. Staff was so nice and helpful when ordering and even inquiring about the apron since there was no price on it. Hopefully we'll be back and can catch them during their dinner service!
