Matcha Latte w/ oat milk (hot)
Ryan C.

Hot Bevs is great! The truck was outside my work in Carlsbad, and what a perfect way to jump start your work day. I usually get a cafe latte, and it's really good. But this time I wanted to try their matcha and it did not disappoint. Ordered the Matcha Latte w/ oat milk, and got it "hot" because it's been a little chilly lately. The drink was perfect amount of sweetness and the matcha was smooth. The service was friendly as usual, and the wait wasn't too long. This experience definitely got me off to a "hot" start for the day!

Hot Bevs coffee is amazing and the staff is amazing! We are excited to partner up with them again!

Blackberry Sage Iced Tea
Jack M.

Wow, this Mobile and Coffee Unit sure makes some amazing iced teas. At the La Jolla Open Aire Market, I had a 16 oz Black Berry Sage Tea Iced. The iced tea was not only refreshing, but it also tasted very good. The blackberry flavor was right up front and the sage was subtle towards the end. It was a great iced tea for a nice warm afternoon as it was on this particular visit. The staff members were super nice and energetic. Check out their IG for locations around San Diego because they make a lot more than just iced tea...

Excellent drinks and friendly, quick service. If you don't want coffee, their smoothies are excellent. I love it when they visit my work!

Great tasting decaf. Nothing crazy, the ask was simple and pricing is standard for the area. Cool livery on the truck, friendly service.

As someone who truly appreciates good coffee, I absolutely love coming here for my hot latte and espresso. The quality, atmosphere, and hospitality make this place stand out from so many other coffee shops in San Diego. You ring the doorbell, wait patiently, and once you're inside, you realize this isn't your typical coffee shop. It's a place to slow down, enjoy the music, and savor your drink. Monique and Danica were both amazing. They're warm, welcoming, and you can really see the passion behind what they do. Danica is also the DJ, and her eclectic playlist made the whole experience even better. One of my favorite parts was just sitting there watching our drinks being made. You can see the care and craft that goes into every cup...even the Kuramoto ice is beautiful. The Matcha Americano completely changed my perception of matcha. The Kyoto cold brew pour-over was fascinating to watch and incredibly smooth. We loved it so much that we came back the very next day. This time I had the Midori, and my brother-in-law loved the Highball, especially the yuzu. No laptops. Trust the DJ. Drinks are meant to be enjoyed fresh, so take your time. If you're looking for a quick coffee run, this isn't it. But if you appreciate great coffee, good music, and people who are passionate about their craft, Long Play Hi-Fi is absolutely worth the visit.

The menu featured various matcha tea drinks which seems to be all the rage right now. The same seating arrangement of the bar countertop and tables across from it was available if you wanted to hang out and chill. A sign behind the bar described the ceremonial grade matcha that was used with the region of origin and the flavors imparted to the powder. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

I honestly expected this drink to be very gimmicky and too sweet but was surprised when it seemed to strike the perfect balance. I could taste both the matcha AND the mango puree AND the salted coconut foam without one overpowering the other! What delicious witchcraft is this? The mango was subtle but there. The drink was creamy and thick. Such a refreshing summer drink! The cafe itself is super cute and quaint with a trendy, boho chic vibe. Baristas were super friendly. I would come back again!

The drink exhibited every core to the classic Thai dessert and there was really little room for improvement other than the ratio of rice to coconut blend could be evened out. However, sipping the cocosmoothie with bits of rice made up my mind as I can confidently say this is #1. If you're looking for something different and tired of the conventional smoothie or milk tea, come experience this. Give some patience as orders are made fresh from this small hole in the wall. I plan on returning from LA as soon as possible.

The barista mentioned that it is on the sweeter side. When this was mentioned I felt like it would be a good pairing because the Thai coffees that I am used to having are typically on the strong side. I also heard from another customer that the Thai coffee had a slight mocha taste to it which I thought was interesting. I'm indifferent to powdered taro milk teas, although this one in particular, I did not enjoy. It was thick and sludgy, with an undertone of medicine reminding me of pepto bismol. The color was lovely, but not the taste. I wouldn't order this particular drink again. The drink I chose was medium size and it was only $5.38 (or 5.83, I can't remember & I don't think I got a receipt) ish which I can appreciate! The top portion of the drink was the Thai coffee and I really did like the flavor. Next time I'll get a different drink for sure! My friend tried the Green Thai Tea for the first time and really enjoyed the flavor of it. It had a floral jasmine + vanilla taste, a little bit on the sweet side-- but refreshing and delicious. The prices are pretty good (coffee and milk teas) and they also have smoothies (which can be on the more expensive side $9-12). Water cup is free upon request. They also have only a handful of seatings, but it's a nice area to walk around. They have umbrellas as well, but they do need a heavier stand for windy days as I've witnessed it fall into a car several times. Other than that, I recommend checking out It's Cafe Thai in Barrio Logan!
