Pasta with mushrooms
Willi K.

The food wasn't bad but nothing extraordinary in the neighborhood - except for the high prices. The pasta was a bit soft and the sauce nothing special, but it did have plenty of mushrooms. The selection of vegetarian dishes was extremely poor which for me was the biggest issue. The dessert was labeled a cake but was really a muffin in a very liquid vanilla sauce - somewhat disappointing but at least it was a good muffin. At the end of our family dinner, the server offered a free alcoholic drink - but only to my father whom he referred to as the "boss", even though it was my mother who had ordered the bill moments earlier. Deeply inappropriate.

Grilled Turbot
Jing Y.

Very fresh fish, my colleague and I visit this restaurant for a dinner in Venice during our business trip. The bite is nice, good Pasta as first course, take the recommend to order Grilled Turbot which is very soft, Q and tasty.

The pumpkin flan was a true experience of sweet and savoriness. I couldn't stop eating the ratatouille; it was such a delicious treat. I was able to have a conversation with the chef after our meal, and she encouraged my excitement to experiment and try my hand at some of these dishes at home. I wish I lived in Venice, so I could have La Zucca regularly. They only had one reservation spot for the days we were in Venice, so I definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time.

The seating made it completely worth it, though--we were seated right by the canal water and had a gorgeous view throughout our meal! The servers were very pleasant, though navigating the menu takes a little extra effort. The menu is in Italian and changes regularly. While they do provide a translation menu, I ended up using my phone to translate most of it myself. For dietary restrictions, they do mark allergy items, though there aren't very many gluten-free options available. To drink, I ordered an Aperol Spritz. For food, I had the carrot soup and a plate of two sides: ratatouille and zucchini. The soup and the zucchini were both delicious! One of my friends ordered the linguine, but unfortunately found it to be overly salty. Overall, it's a lovely spot for a scenic lunch by the water, especially if you enjoy a lively atmosphere and don't mind navigating a changing Italian menu.

Get lost in Venice and found this restaurant. It is right at the corner of a quiet courtyard…read moreneighborhood. The waiter is very friendly and invite us to have lunch, and menu price look reasonable so let's go for it. We ordered clam and mussels. So amazing and yummy, especially the soup! I really want to finish all of it. The scallop spaghetti is also very yummy. I love this place. Good vibe, friendly service, and most important is the food quality. 5 stars for sure. For dinner in peak season, try to make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. We arrived before our reservation time and were seated immediately inside and greeted warmly by the restaurant owner. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (most under 20 Euros for a 75 ML bottle). For appetizers we ordered the cheese with honey for 13 Euros, absolutely amazing! We also combined this with the local olive oil and fresh bread brought to the table to start as well. For our second course we chose two pastas, the Penne Alla Amatriciana (I think it was around 12 Euros), and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (I think it was around 12 Euros as well). Both had extremely fresh homemade ingredients and were out of this world and extreme attention to care in the preparation. For our entree we split the breaded pork chop (I think it was around 20 Euros), including a side of potatoes (similar to the steak fries that you would see in the U.S.) The service was absolutely amazing and we loved dining alongside the owner and his family and meeting the cat that also lives at the restaurant and comes by to greet you during the meal as well. It truly was like you were dining at the home of the owner and is a must try if you are in Venice!

Both were served with a a mound of fresh cut potatoes, grilled vegetables and two sauces to dip into. We barely used the dips as everything was seasoned to perfection. No steak sauce needed as the steak was well seasoned and served hot. We also have a bottle of white wine and tried the lasagna for our starter. Everyone at the table was happy with this option for dinner. Also this is not fancy dinner but still dining at its fines. The cichetti selection looked very good (variety thinned out throughout the night), but our party of 3 was starving and we opted to sit inside for a late ~8:30pm dinner. We got one order of grilled lamb and the Lombatello steak for 2. The lamb was also good, no gamey taste. The Lombatello steak was simply fantastic, choose this cut specifically!! A heaping pile of medium-rare meat (cannot buy single portions) that was very tender and flavorful. It's cushioned with steak fries and grilled veggies on the side. Paired with two glasses of house wine, this meal was fantastic. Ended up with a to go box of steak and fries. Servers are very busy, bustling around clearing tables, taking orders, etc, but they are vigilant if you need anything. We saw one table of ~10 order a steak platter, and it was a sight to behold - a massive wooden cutting board packed with steak, transported by two waiters.
