This place was recommended to us by the French woman who cooked us breakfast at our B&B. We had a…read morelist of places that we wanted to try in Epernay, but some of them are closed in Sunday and we had a bit of trouble making reservations due to the language barrier.
The style and decor of this place is a bit dated, but I'm not sure if it's old or purposely done that way. When we walked in, it was empty, but it filled up quickly. I think we were pretty much ahead of all the crowds by 30 minutes everywhere we went.
You have the option of 4 or 5 courses, cheese course is included with either choice. I think every table we overheard asked about portion sizes and whether they should choose 4 or 5. 4 courses is plenty of food, but you should choose the 5 cause you're in Champagne, so why not.
The sauce for my langoustines was a bit too fishy for my taste, but my fish and beef dishes were both really good. And tart for dessert was delicious. The French really know how to do pastries. They don't do wine parings, so we were recommended a bottle and it went very well with the food. We did learn that the champagne that is aged in oak goes better with food.
Overall a very good dining experience.
