I was recently a chaperone on a school trip to Torun. The organization we worked with planner our itinerary and accommodations at Hostel Przystanek. This location was a good option for us, and had a great offer at a reasonable price.
While definitely not a four start hotel, this hostel was clean and comfortable. There are a variety of rooms available from single rooms with private bathroom to 10-person rooms with shared bathrooms. Double, triple, 6 ppl.... there are many options.
There was a shared kitchen with plenty of utensils, electric kettle, fridge etc.
Maps of the area are on the wall so you can orient yourself.
The restaurant has options for large groups/receptions.
The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and understanding.
Bear in mind that this is a hostel... and large groups stay here. On our first night, there was a group of 20-30somethings drinking in their room and creating more noise than our students. And of course, if there are student groups staying here, you're likely to have issues with noise.
Rooms on the front side of the building are directly across from the Torun Miasto train station. The trains do make noise and shake the building. If you can, ask for a room on one of the ends of the hallways or the back of the building.
If I were traveling on a budget and I needed a place to stay with friends, this would be a decent option. It's not too far from the city center, and a great location if traveling by train. Definitely worth considering on your next Polish adventure. read more
