I'm giving this company a zero star review. I originally booked my vacation through booking.com which will also get a review. I did not realize when I booked through them that the actual booking was going to go to Hosteeva. As I was on the booking.com website I found a condo that appeared to be oceanfront and the picture on the profile showed this. It looked to be a very clean and modern looking condo that had been refurbished in the Carolinian Resort Condos. I'll include a picture for reference. Prior to us even checking into the condo, at least a week before we were charged the entire amount of the rental. On the day of arrival, we walked into the condo, but our first appearance was the entryway to the condo was dirty and very very old looking. We walk into unit 435. I will show you pictures to see what I'm talking about. It was disgusting. It had a smell to it. It clearly was not cleaned before we got there. The only thing that looked like it was taken care of was the beds were made. But I don't even know if the sheets were actually washed. I don't know. It was not a ocean front view, but a partial view of the beach. What we did see out of the main window/sliding glass door was a building that was being renovated and dilapidated. The carpeting in the condo was so gross. We obviously had to wear our shoes all the time. The carpet was soaking wet and we couldn't figure out until I did a little bit of research to find that the dishwasher had leaked and nobody reported it. I contacted the front desk, which is what you're supposed to do and a day later somebody came out to look at the dishwasher and find that the leak was coming from that. The man who I do not blame for any of this said that he would return to fix it and left. It was not fixed during the time that we were there, so the carpet remained wet until it dried because we were told not to use the dishwasher. Now mind you, the dishwasher must've been used before we got in there due to the carpet being soaking wet. The bathroom was gross. The refrigerator looked like somebody beat it, with visible damage to it. The lighting in the condo was practically nonexistent. The whole place gave us the creeps. I contacted Hosteeva numerous times by phone and text messaging. They constantly reassured me that everything would be taken care of and they told me that I would be reimbursed for part of the cost of the condo because of the issues with the place. I was there the third week in May and up until a few weeks ago when I sent yet again another text message asking when I was gonna get a reimbursement that they offer to me, I did not ask for but they did offer it and I said yes. They constantly say that they have to process this complaint and send it to the higher management in their company, which I know is a bunch of BS. Because nobody has gotten back to me to correct the situation. Every text and every phone call that I've made. They have literally been reading from a script. It never occurred to me to look up host because I did not know that's who I was booking through when I went onto booking.com. I eventually did look up Hosteeva ratings and they have absolutely horrific reviews because they are such a horrible company to deal with. read more

I'm writing this review to warn potential guests about my terrible experience with a vacation rental I booked through Vrbo/Hosteeva. The place was called Spacious Modern Condos, located near the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. Upon checking in, we discovered severe plumbing issues. Raw sewage was backing up into the dishwasher, kitchen sink, and bathroom vanity. I had to endure raw sewage in the kitchen and bathroom for an entire three days. To make matters worse, the elevators frequently shook and got stuck. Security personnel had to manually open the doors and evacuate occupants. The building is situated in an area where homeless individuals defecate on the walkway, adding to the unpleasantness of the environment. The parking lot emits an unpleasant odor and is infested with rodents. To top it off, the church bell rings every hour, which was incredibly disruptive and prevented me from getting a good night's sleep. It's evident that Hosteeva customer service representatives lack a fundamental understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service. If you're looking to have a pleasant vacation, I strongly advise you to steer clear of this location. read more

This stay involved a clear violation of platform policies and a serious misrepresentation of what was booked. We booked and paid for a 4-bedroom condo with higher capacity and a proper view. After extending our stay directly with the management company (Hosteeva), we were substituted without our consent into two smaller adjoining apartments. Although the apartments had a similar layout, they were objectively lower value: reduced suitability for a group stay, inferior configuration, and a wall-facing view instead of the view shown in the original listing. Despite receiving a downgraded accommodation, we were charged at a higher rate than the substituted apartments normally command, meaning we paid more than we should have for what we actually received. A condo is a single integrated living space; what we were given were two separate units with duplicated appliances and no shared living area. This substitution was never disclosed or approved and violates listing accuracy and host reliability standards. Additional problems during the stay included: * Air conditioning not working for more than three days (indoor temperatures around 78°F+) * Smoke alarms malfunctioning and then removed instead of repaired * Elevator out of service for the entire weekend * Maintenance entering without notice * Ongoing disruptions and poor coordination Airbnb ultimately closed the case with only a partial refund, without addressing the core issue of the unauthorized downgrade and overcharging. Hosteeva's compensation offer did not reflect the rate difference, loss of value, or disruption to the trip. Importantly, reviews for this property and management company cannot be relied upon. Compensation was offered in connection with reviews, which undermines the integrity of review systems and is contrary to the policies of most review platforms. The experience caused significant stress, exhaustion, and loss of enjoyment. We were able to enjoy only one day of what should have been a planned vacation. This listing and management company should not be relied upon to deliver the unit advertised or to charge appropriately for the accommodation provided. Guests should confirm in writing that they will receive the exact unit shown at booking. Until these practices change, I cannot recommend this stay or Hosteeva. read more

Booked a stay in NOLA for one night for the HS football championships and was cancelled for being "local." Apparently 300+ miles away is local because it is in the same state. They Charged my credit card and confirmed my reservation only to turn around and cancel it 2 days before I fly out. They claimed a roofing repair issue but I call BS. They sold at a higher rate per night and cancelled my reservation. Now I'm 8 miles away at a Comfort Inn because it was all I could find that wasn't ridiculously expensive.. Not the best place for elderly individuals. You have to walk up three flight of stairs. The elevator has been broken. The door handle fell off and I was locked in the unit. No bars for assistance in the shower or the tubs. The coffee maker was broken. And the Wi-Fi is terrible. The parking is even worse. Not worth $6000.00 that I paid for my vacation experience. I made a reservation for a 4 night stay at Oak Ridge in Branson through Booking.com. It was a no-refund reservation. I accepted that. Unfortunately, the wife of the couple who I was going to visit became seriously ill and was hospitalized 4 hours away in St. Louis. I contacted Booking.com who claimed they had no power to override the no-refund policy and blamed it on Oak Ridge. I contacted Oak Ridge who blamed the policy on Booking.com. Only later did I finally figure out that somehow Hosteeva was the company behind the no-refund policy. I contacted them, explained my situation, hoping for some sympathy for my situation, and possibly a partial refund or credit, but they would not budge from their no-refund policy. I understand that legally, I accepted a no-refund reservation, but morally, I find it reprehensible that Hosteeva feels justified in keeping my entire payment with no gesture of kindness or understanding. BEWARE! I had no idea that Booking.com used third party vendors for their reservation system. In the future, I will always book directly with any resort or hotel. read more

Traveled to New Orleans. Had a group of 9 that we got a spot a few miles from Bourbon Street. The place was 3 levels but we all handled the stairs. There was enough beds for us all. Had a kitchen, living room, dining room and 2 1/2 bath. Master bathroom had a huge tub. Check in was super easy, just needed our code. There was a pool and a garage for us to use too. Hosteeva lied to us, violated our privacy, and created an unsafe environment for our family while staying in this condo. Our personal items were ruined, and we were gaslighted by both Hosteeva and Airbnb. We were offered no compensation for this attack. Our vacation was ruined from this incident. We suggest that you do not use services from Hosteeva or Airbnb. During our two week stay, Hosteeva asked if a maintenance person could come into the unit to clean a dryer vent. Less than two hours later, I returned to the condo to find 2 maintenance men wearing masks cleaning every single HVAC vent in the unit. This required large machinery, ladders, power tools, extension cords, and more. They did not use drop clothes, and all of our personal belongings were covered in dust and debris. We have 3 small children, and I had to barricade my baby into a small area using furniture to prevent her from getting injured while I navigated the situation. The men continued to run extremely loud equipment and blow dust everywhere, which scared my baby and left her crying and upset. After learning that the maintenance would continue for another hour or more, I asked the workers to leave. They did not clean up or vacuum any of the debris. They left the counters covered in bleach where our toothbrushes and bathroom items were sitting. Our personal items were also covered in dust and debris. I called Hosteeva to let them know about the situation, and to ask for a cleaning crew to come in to vacuum and wipe down surfaces. I was told by Hosteeva that I was, "overreacting," and that a cleaning crew wouldn't be able to come for another day. I had to source childcare for my 3 children, borrow a working vacuum cleaner from a neighbor, and cancel our plans for the rest of the day in order to make the apartment remotely livable and safe. I called Airbnb, who listened to the situation. While continuing to put me on and off hold, they told me that they were going to relocate our family to another unit at no additional cost. They sent me a link of condos to choose from, and told me to pack up our apartment so that we could leave immediately. They then closed the case through the online messaging system, and told me they would call back in 30 mins to find out which unit I chose for us to move to. I never received a call back. When I called to follow up, I was told that there was no record of the previous conversation, and that there was nothing that they could do. They offered me a 30% discount for the one day in which we were inconvenienced, (which would've come to about $40), and a $137 compensation for the inconvenience should we choose to rebook on our own. In regards to the actual unit, it was in a perfect location and had gorgeous views, but it had a lot of problems. The bathrooms had mold around the caulk on the tub, were extremely moldy inside of the sliding glass doors surrounding the tubs, and on the showerhead. Rainwater leaked through the sliding glass doors in the bedroom. The oven wouldn't reach temperature when set, which made it impossible to bake anything. The sinks were also dripping when we arrived. In turn, we were lied to and gaslighted by both Airbnb and Hosteeva. We will not be using either company again, and we suggest that you don't either. While the unit was beautiful, we regret booking it. We had no protection and were put in a very stressful and unsafe situation for our family. We received no support or compensation for the inconvenience. It truly ruined our vacation. read more

We filled out their tedious and intrusive registration paperwork. 2 days before we were to go we get a phone call stated our reservation has been canceled and the host home no longer had a contract with Hosteeva. After forcing the issue -- Hosteeva offered other accommodations on the other side of the state. Which we declined..( 6 hrs away) The best they could do was refund our money and we had to fend for ourselves for some place to stay. This was a reservation for 5 adults and we ended up with 1 night stay at a hotel. We booked thru VRBO and that connected us to Hosteeva. There weren't any better in their customer service. The overall rating was mainly because of the junk fees and their taxes that this property charges, which are 30% of the four nights rent. The actual stay rating was better than this rating. They charge cleaning fee of $119 + $15.47 tax for a total of $134.47 and yet they ask me to take the trash out of the property. This fee should be a part of doing business. When I go to a hotel, I don't pay a cleaning fee and I am not asked to dispose of the trash. The nature of the admin and resort fees plus their taxes are not explained and appear to be just a way of increasing their bottom line at the expense of the customer. The reservation confirmation email I received indicated that they have charged only 30% of the total sum to secure the reservation, but the bank sent me an immediate email that they charged the entire amount. Because of the items I explained above, I will opt for a hotel in my next trip to Myrtle Beach. read more

The Nines at Kierland is a nice facility in a great location, but overpriced. For what we paid, the amenities were carefully rationed out. The Nespresso machine was apportioned one coffee pod for a 3 day stay. We ran out of toilet paper on the last day and there were no more rolls to be found. The main tv had 4 remotes and there were no instructions available. Check in was done remotely and there were no check out instruction. The 800 operator was very helpful. There were 3 flights of stairs to the room and no elevator...a warning might have been nice. Thankfully, this 80 year old is in excellent physical condition. read more

I made a reservation to stay at one of Hosteeva's Luxury condos in New Orleans, LA staying from April 25- April 28 2020. I had to cancel my stay due to the pandemic and the shelter in place in Louisiana, I sent the cancellation on 4/16/20. A representative from the company responded on 4/18/20 informing me that my reservation will be canceled and a traveling voucher will be sent to make a future reservation. On 4/19/20, a representative emailed and said hotels.com will send them the cost of the condo rental an amount for $650.54 on April 25th and it will be converted into a travel voucher and sent to me via email. I received an email from Team Hosteeva saying " Hi Daron Jones, thank you for trusting Hosteeva! Here is the information regarding your Hosteeva Credit: Amount:$650.54, Expiration date: Without time frame. To redeem please give us a call and provide the following ID: #227078, and our agents will take care of the rest. I called on 5/12/22 to redeem the voucher for a stay next month (June2022) and they told me my expiration date expired and the they will contact management. I got No response on 5/13/22. I forwarded the email sent to me saying that my voucher had no expiration date on 5/16/22. A representative tells me that Covid-19 vouchers are expire per the management decision and we cannot honor it due to the ownership change with the company. I told them this is unfair and they never sent an email about ownership changes or policy changes about vouchers, nothing ! I asked for my money back and that wasn't an option. Would not have booked if we had known that all management was hundreds of miles away from where we were actually staying. Our flight got in a few hours before check-in. Called to see if we were able to check in early. The person on the other end of the phone wasn't sure, but he would check and call us back. No call back. Tried again when we were in the car headed from airport to the city-same response-didn't know would call us back. Got to the place, called again and the same thing. Finally, I just went up to the condo used the provided codes (which they waited until the very last minute to send us as opposed to the 3 days prior to arrival) got into the room and it looked cleaned (somewhat) so we unloaded our stuff. 30 minutes later guy finally calls back to say that we could get into our condo. Condo had 1 bedroom and a convertible couch. No lines for couch so we had to call again as we needed them for our daughter. They brought to sheets but no comforter. Normally wouldn't be a problem but NOLA was having a cold snap and we had problems with the thermostat in the condo. It is a programmable thermostat so it kept changing programs throughout the day and wouldn't stay at the temperature we had put. No directions anywhere on programing it. Called early, the next day for a comforter. Never should up that day for my daughter. Didn't show up until the following day. Condo had a great location and a good price but not happy with the management and the place was not comfortable. Our bed was nice but no comfortable place to sit. "Dining" table only had stools to sit on, no real chairs to relax in and convertible couch/bed was super hard and lumpy. Will be avoiding this management company from now on. My family and I stayed at a rental property managed by Hosteeva in New Orleans this past April, and let me tell you the place was NOTHING like the pictures posted on trip advisor! It is listed as. "Luxury Condo" when in reality this place is a real dump and in a sketchy area of town. The building appears to have been built with scraps from other construction sites, and I honestly don't even know how this building passed inspections! I felt unsafe inside of the building due to the structure and the locks used on the doors. The place is old and dark. The whole time I was hoping that we wouldn't have a need to evacuate the building for fear we may not make it out safely. Upon our arrival the first thing we noticed was the oven door handle was broken and had tape all over it holding the door in place along with several other broken things. My husband called Hosteeva to report all of the broken and damaged items in the rental, and was told that someone from many would be contacting him. No one ever called us back or give any explanation or provide and resolutions for the issues we reported to them. I was so frustrated with this management company and do not recommend anyone rent properties that it manages. More than likely your experience will be like ours. read more

Hosteeva is all over - my reservation was for Myrtle Beach - but I ultimately took my complaint to the parent company, which confirmed everything I thought about them. Beware of booking on VRBO because so many of the properties are "managed" by management companies, and they have total control. I made a reservation with the incorrect dates and within minutes tried to correct the date, even checking the box on the verification email that "the dates were incorrect." VRBO wouldn't cancel because "it wasn't their reservation" and Hosteeva wouldn't respond. They took my money and just kept saying that I didn't cancel. They are the worst!! From now on, no more VRBO either; I'll research management companies in the area I want to travel and deal with them directly. I wish I could score negative. read more

DO NOT TRUST HOSTEEVA!!! They are dishonest and incompetent. I accidentally reserved two different rooms. I immediately called to cancel one room and it was canceled without a problem but they had already charged me a $200 security deposit on the first room. I was told by two different employees that they would be able to apply the $200 deposit to the correct room but instead they charged me $200 again and they would not return it. Nothing was damaged and they have no reason not to return my security deposit. They also stated they were going to give me a $200 discount because of the overcharge I experienced. They did in fact apply a $200 discount BUT AT THE SAME TIME THEY CHARGED ME AN ADDITIONAL $200!!. To this day (four days after I checked out) I still do not have my security deposit back and I did not receive any benefit from the $200 discount be applied because they charged an additional 200 at the same time. They lie and do not do as they promise. To this date I am still overcharged for the room. read more
