I am the type of person that gives more value to experience, rather than formats. You can go to a top notch restaurant, have the best set, great ambiance, but your experience may be not at level of the rest. On the other hand you could be in the simplest place, and yet have something that through years you continue to remember.
Gau Txori Restaurant is one of them. I found them by chance one day we were vacationing, and we were about to cross to France, and yet we needed to have something to eat.
My wife pointed out that lot's of trucks were nearby, so it should not be bad. Well, to tell a long story short. This place in the middle of a crossroad may have the best fish soup I had for years. Authentic home made food to a very accommodating price.
And this gets better , be prepare to have the whole soup bowl because it is ALL for YOU.
Later we found that Pilgrims of Chemin de St. Jacques (Santiago de Compostela) stop there to replenish energy...
I am not asking you to do what I did one year to drive 90Km from France just for the soup. But if you happen to be there, give it a try, and in the meantime talk with some of the pilgrims. THAT I call a great experience, hence my rating. read more
