I have stayed in Hostels around Europe before and there have never really been any problems, as…read morethey tend to be much nicer than other hostels around the world. I scheduled my stay at Hostel Hemingway for two nights from Friday to Sunday, as I traveled to Pamplona to take a test at the University of Navarra on Saturday. The first night was fine and the hostel had a really nice vibe; however the second night I had a horrible experience. On the second night around 5am a guy who was staying in the same room as I, brought a guest home and began having loud sex in the room.
Obviously this woke everyone up and people began to make noises to show the "couple" that we were aware of the situation, thinking that this would stop them. Besides our efforts the couple continued, at which point I was completely uncomfortable and no longer felt as if I were in a safe space. I picked up my stuff, turned on the light, and left the room (again I thought this would make them stop) but even as I was gathering my things they still continued.
A little later another man left the room due to the same thing, and it came to my knowledge that another person asked the couple to stop (not sure what really happened).
I was pretty much forced out of my room, and sat in the common area until there was enough daylight for me to get a taxi to the train station. What really startled me was that there was no contact number or other emergency information regarding who to contact in situations such as these in any of the areas, including the front desk. At around 8:00am the person in charge of the front showed up and another person informed him of what happened, he said he would ask the person to leave after today, but im not really sure whether that happened as he didnt seem as concern as we were.
As I said, the vibe was pretty could, but I doubt I would come back considering the situation.
