Knowing that one of our ABSOLUTE FAVORITES, Red Lobster in Whitehall, is rated 3 L 2, we know that ratings can be sabotaged by Yelpers-for-Egos' Sake Users. Boy, were we right. . This place is a very Succinct 5-Star Stop. . As you Arrive, the Restaurant is very unassuming: a Two-Story Farmhouse with a 50' x 120' Rectangilar Footprint. The Parking pad fits about 18 cats/trucks, and a decent facade-wide porch allows hawkers to sit out front and eat. . Inside, the Foyer opens to a cozy coffee bar and after a shotgun hallway, a wall-length bar opens to a small dining area. Everything is appointed in a medium walnut tone, with a Wyoming Mountain Home feel to the Interior. It was Fantastically Cozy. . We started with the Seafood Sampler appetizer. It includes grilled Brussel Sprouts, Deep Fried Creany Crab Rangoon, and Coconut-Crusted Shrump.Each item was just about perfect: full of robust taste and cooked beyond all Expectations. Our Entrees were Simple: Thick-Cut Bologna for Me and a Rice Bowl for my Wife. Bothnof those were quite yummy. The Rice Bowl nearly tasted like a great polenta Bowl, with bits of Fresh Spinach and other Seasonal Veggies Added to the Healthy Mix. . For 1 Appetizer, 2 Entrees, and 2 Sodas, the Total came to $42. That's nearly unheard of these days. In fact, it leans into our Favorite 'Cheap Eats Slogan': "MorecAffordable than Raising Canes." . Ask for a spot on the patio! I mean, if you can and the weather allows. The patio at Horvath's Harbor is large, with lots of tables and seating right by a strip of water. Maybe it's a harbor -- I don't know. That would make sense, though, right? Considering this restaurant has "harbor" in its name. Let's just say that the strip of water right by the restaurant is a harbor. I was enchanted by the water and also by the service at Horvath's. The servers were exceedingly kind and brought me my food and drink very quickly. I ordered a Blueberry Basil Mule, which is the house specialty drink. It's basically a Moscow Mule but with housemade blueberry basil syrup. It was sweet but refreshing. It was the perfect warm-weather beverage. There were so many things on the menu that sounded good to me: burgers, salads, wraps, tacos, etc. I couldn't decide what to get, so I got an appetizer sampler, which was a couple of spring rolls, roasted Brussels sprouts and mac-and-cheese bites. All of the appetizers were tasty! It was nice to have a variety. They do Happy Hour specials here, and I happened to visit during their Happy Hours, so my drink and appetizers were discounted! Yes! I'm rounding up to 5*'s because I disagree with some of the overly harsh reviews, and wonder if some of these are written by competitors working at other nearby restaurants... The place is lovely - as Kalah said, it's a "hidden gem" around the lake. Service is very friendly. Drinks are excellent. Food is very tasty - we especially like the blackened Mahi sandwich, the brussel sprout side, and the fried chicken sandwich. The upstairs dining area is big, super comfortable and very relaxing. We sat there during a recent OSU Football game and had a great time. Stopped for lunch in the mid afternoon. Nice place limited seating on the main floor, had an upstairs and a lot of outside seating for the nicer weather days. Had fish tacos and fries was good. The Iced tea was....weird, had to send it back tasted like old sun tea to me, no biggie. They started to get kinda busy and only one sever to do everything it looked like, took a little time to get food, again no biggie. Definitely going back to enjoy the outside seating! read more

Yaaasss!!! We definitely hit the jackpot on this one! I told the hubby that I wanted to venture out towards Buckeye Lake and see what the restaurants had to offer and boy did Horvath's Harbor do it! Everything was absolutely wonderful! I loved the country view while driving to the restaurant as well. It was SO beautiful! When walking into the restaurant, you will see that there is a coffee lounge setup at the front of the restaurant. I thought that this was a cute idea! After passing the coffee lounge, you step into a cute, little lounge. While the space inside might seem small, there is plenty of seating outside on the patio by the water. We decided to eat inside since it was 98 degrees out (too hot for me). Our server (Tierra) was so attentive and kind! For starters, they do not offer a kids menu here. So - I asked if they could make our daughter a grilled cheese and the cooks did just that. I also asked for my lobster for my lobster roll to be hot versus chilled and the cooks did that as well. All of our dishes tasted absolutely delicious! My lobster roll was amazing - it was full of large chunks of hot, buttery lobster; the aioli sauce and chives on top were divine; and the roll was nice, buttery, and toasted to perfection. I ordered the house-made garlic parmesan chips as my side. These were perfect! They were full of flavor and super crunchy - not too salty nor greasy! I also tried my daughter's french fries. These were perfect too! The fries were piping hot, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside - my favorite! My hubby ordered the mac salad - which is basically a Big Mac in a bowl - he really enjoyed this as well! I definitely want to come back soon and try the Reuben (apparently a house favorite)! Recommend: the apps!! The apps are fantastic here- we had nachos, loaded garlic parm fries, Brussels sprouts, & mac n cheese. They were all so tasty, even the Brussels sprouts. The burger is also good and the fish tacos were probably my favorite main course. I would not recommend the chopped cheese- this was to bland and messy in my opinion. The burger was actually chopped up and would just fall out. There wasn't as much flavor as I was expecting. We came here on a Friday night and the band was playing inside. It was absolutely too loud and you could not even have a conversation with anyone around you. It also has more of a cozy atmosphere inside than a restaurant vibe. Food was ok, but the service was the worst, the server we had, seemed like didn't feel like working, first the appetizers took 45 minutes, I think either the server forgot or the kitchen, it was just the loaded fries and lobster Mac, the server keeps complaining of being slammed or the kitchen is slammed, other tables did not had the same problems, finally the entrees arrive, but they forgot the cheese on cheeseburgers, which took another 30 minutes of waiting. Walked into the restaurant on a Saturday evening and wasn't made aware we had to seat ourselves, despite many employees making eye contact with my group. Not a huge deal, kept walking and figured it out. Sat down at our table outside, and the video and live music were great. The first thing the server said was if we wanted food it would be 1.5 hour wait. She handed us a menu and it was a limited menu with maybe five or six options. Was told my someone else in my group that they've also had issues previously with food availability. If you're going here on the weekend expect limited parking, limited food availability, and a possibly 1 hour+ wait on any food making it to your table. read more

My wife surprised me with a date night away from town a bit and this is where she took me. Very modern yet cozy decor, very peaceful and functional deck seating area on one of the Buckeye Lake canals. Very expansive bourbon list, respectable beer selection, and a great cocktail menu. The lobster burger was great! Parmesan chips were to die for. Probably the best coconut shrimp I've ever had - loved the spicy Thai sauce! Only negatives: my wife wanted to sample one of the (only) four red wines they had. Waitress said no samples. Then asked if we get it and don't like it if we can send it back. Answer was a simple "no." Plus, I was having a hard time choosing among three dishes for the main course, and she offered no advice or reviews. Went in today as we had been there once before. Sat at the bar to leave an even number of seats on either side of us to be courteous. My seat was very dirty on the bar top and there were several employees around, yet nobody had cleaned the spot and there were several employees in the area. I cleaned the spot myself with the stacked napkin stations against the wall. The only person behind the bar spoke to the other staff (while we were still sitting there with no menus or anything) about a table they said was difficult, then told us, "She'll be right back, guys" referring to a bartender that never did come. The person behind the bar told a walk up customer that she would be with her soon because she was dealing with an "upset customer issue on table 1" and when the customer responded, the employee said, "Yeah. It's stupid." and continued to ignore us. The whole demeanor of the staff was unprofessional and unacceptable in front of other patrons. Living nearby affords us the opportunity to visit Horvaths Harbor for dinner, drinks or both. Though we wouldn't consider ourselves regulars, we have been there enough to gauge service levels, menu selections, food quality and value for your dollar. If nothing else, Horvaths Harbor proves consistent. The constant here is regrettably sub par. I admire that they aspire to be a click or two above the other lake bars or restaurants and they achieve that through the appearance of the restaurant, they've done a nice job setting themselves apart in that category. However the menu selections seemingly has remained the same since they opened, some additions would be welcomed. The meals we've had have been mediocre at best. Chicken has been bland, lobster roll was tasteless, Maui Maui also lacked flavor. The one bright spot has been the hamburger. All were served with some kind of homemade chips that were stale and flavorless. Value for the dollar isn't well represented either, our last visit was dinner (lobster roll and MauiMaui Wrap) plus drinks for 2 for over $60. If the food was more tasty then the pricing would be in line, sadly it wasn't. Lastly, and I know how difficult it is attracting quality staffing, especially recently, but when I see 2 waitstaff, 1 bartender and what appeared to be a manager of sorts, all scrolling through their phones, it only reaffirmed a sub par dining experience. I hope going forward they can improve going forward, it truly is a nice venue. read more

We came together for a bachelorette party of 7. The food took over an hour to be partially delivered incorrectly. Food orders were bungled. Two hours later and the bride's food still wasn't delivered and half the table was sitting with cold, uneaten food, and checks paid. The food was absolutely delicious and presented so beautifully. Thom Horvrath was so easy to work with. He took care of my every request without hesitation. 4th time back and keep wanting it to be better but it is not happening. My wife and I just left there and will probably never go back. 1. At a time when you need to generate business "no happy hour" 2. Ordered special app parm chips had to ask for ranch dressing to dip them in and should be served hot with the parm sticking to them. No taste and no salt. 3. Ordered a Ruben for the second time , no taste to the corned beef , not enough thousand island dressing. Should be at least served with a dill pickle sphere. You spent so much money on a great building but the quality of food leaves a lot to be desired. Only plus was the fries were hot. My first experience there was great. the atmosphere is wonderful. The last 3 times I've been there, the service has been subpar. We had a party of 5, ordered appetizers waited about 40 minutes for our food on a slow night. The appetizers never came, then our food was delivered-only 3 of the 5 orders were brought out. Waited at least another 20 minutes, our friends were done eating and we still hadn't gotten our food. when we inquired about it, we were told there was an issue with our order and it would be right out. No apologies, no compensation of any sort. we ordered salads, so I'm not sure what kind of issue there would be. It's a cocktail lounge that serves some food. The food is good, not great, not bad, just good. I had the bacon cheddar burger. It looked like a frozen hamburger patty you would buy from GFS. The bun was a good quality. A good burger. My wife had the blue and mild chicken sandwich. She enjoyed it. We both had the chips. They were supposed to have some sort of seasoning on them but we could not taste it. The chips did not taste fresh, perhaps made the same day but not within an hour or so. The beer and cocktail selection was very good. My wife purchased a bottle of the wine she tried with dinner. The interior of the building was very nice. The deck area was small but nice. It looks like they are planning to build a larger patio. There is also an upstairs that we did not see. The location is along a canal that is not particularly picturesque but provides access to Buckeye Lake. You could hear the road traffic from the deck. If you are concerned about COVID-19 I did witness the staff sanitizing tables and chairs after patrons left. I also witnessed most of the staff with their masks pulled down below their chins exposing in their mouth and noses. Tables were not spaced out as they should be. Horvath's Harbor is a hidden gem in the area. I had actually been to many of the other restaurants around before I heard about it, and it's one of the best ones! The atmosphere is awesome, and the setup is interesting. When you first walk in, there's a small coffee shop on the left, and a small lobby-ish area on the right. If you walk straight down the center hall, it opens up to a big open lodge with high top tables on the left, a bar on the right, and cozier seating towards the center. The back wall is made of windows and the main room has a classic lodge-style high ceiling. The window wall opens up to a canal off of Buckeye Lake, and there is even an outdoor deck and a lower cement patio right on the water. The upper loft inside has more tables, but I definitely prefer the lower level. In the winter, the decor feels like a Christmas getaway in the woods. Drinks are definitely artisan for the rural region, and the food is more like a classic nice restaurant than you can get elsewhere locally. The lobster rolls and lobster burger are an awesome lake-themed treat, and they're both tasty and well-executed. I've had lobster rolls more than once on Cape Cod, and I was totally satisfied with the one I had from Horvath's. It's safe to say I'll be back again for another one soon. read more

Food: everything we had was actually very good. We ordered a lot because we wanted to try everything. The Brussels sprouts were great! Charcuterie board is huge. If you don't get the Mac-n- cheese lobster then you're missing out. Drinks: huge beer, wine & spirits list. The Bloody Mary was large with the perfect amount of spice and the cocktail I had was refreshing and exactly like I thought it would, a good balance and not overly overly boozy. Service: Although they were attentive I was taken back a few things. Food came out quick and was presented well. They kept talking to regulars about some spider webs and jumping after them. Then the waitresses took shots with the regulars and I'm pretty sure one of them was actually tipsy.
