We've had a very frustrating experience with Taylor Malahni of Horrell Realtors and would caution others considering applying for one of her listings. We first toured a property with Taylor last year. She was communicative and responsive throughout the process until we submitted our application and paid the application fee. After that, communication stopped. We followed up multiple times simply asking for an answer either way, even if we were not the right fit for the property, but never received a response. Several months later, we noticed that the same property was still listed as available. We reached out to Taylor again and, despite having already applied previously, she asked us to submit a second application and pay the application fee again. We decided to give the process another chance and did so. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happened: once our application and personal information were submitted, she stopped responding. We continued trying to give Taylor the benefit of the doubt, but today we received a notification from Zillow warning that the listing may be fraudulent or a scam intended to collect applicant information. Given our experience, particularly being asked to submit and pay for an application twice followed by a complete lack of communication both times, we immediately withdrew our application. We cannot speak to what is happening behind the scenes with this property, but we can speak to our experience. We gave Taylor multiple opportunities over an extended period of time to communicate with us, and even a simple rejection or explanation would have been appreciated. Instead, we paid to apply twice, provided our personal information twice, and were ignored both times. After receiving Zillow's warning, we no longer felt comfortable leaving our application active. We are sharing our experience so that other prospective renters can use caution and make an informed decision before submitting personal information or paying an application fee. read more

Jessica Horrell is currently acting as a leasing agent for an apartment in Redondo Beach. I tried to reach her every way imaginable - through the Zillow app, phone calls, emails, texts - for 13 days. I even called the office and got her personal cell phone number. I am a very interested, very qualified renter, and I made that very clear to her. I am a landlord as well as a renter, and if my leasing agent took 2 weeks to respond to a qualified renter, I would be very unhappy. It would be impossible to fully recount here just how much Horrell Realtors has done for us over the past 5 months, and how exceptionally well. Our experience, primarily with Jessica, but also with Jay, has been truly extraordinary. I've been buying/selling real estate in both California and Virginia periodically over the past 40 years (both personal residences and investments), and I can honestly say I have never had the type of service our family has received from Horrell Realtors: super professional, superbly competent, and going way way way beyond the "normal." And extremely pleasant - I would even say "fun" - to deal with. We recommend them to anyone, with the very highest regard, and would certainly use their services again. Leasing: We contacted Horrell Realtors in September 2015 to find a tenant for my mother's condo located above Torrance Beach in Redondo. Other realtors I had contacted said they would only list the property for rent, take applications, and "screen" prospective tenants for my selection - and nothing more - for a fee of 6% of the total rent for the lease period. For the exact same fee, Horrell Realtors offered to do the same thing, but also a whole lot more: recommend companies to do painting, repairs, cleaning; help me with scheduling that work (I live in Escondido, so couldn't readily get to Redondo) and ensuring that it got done; and ultimately serve as my "backup" during the lease period if I were unavailable and the tenants needed a point of contact. I had been considering using a "management company" to actually "manage" the condo during the lease period, but Horrell Realtors' customer-friendly service made the expense of a management company unnecessary. In actual fact, Jessica went way way beyond what they had offered as far as "services." I could not have accomplished the rental without her. After my mother moved out in early Oct., Jessica was always available to assist with contractor appointments, and was there personally to let them in if necessary. I can't even recount all the many many times she was there to assist, readily offering to do whatever I needed. I really valued her advice. Horrell Realtors found an excellent tenant, who planned to move in in December. Sales: Sadly, my mother passed away in late November, so we switched to selling her condo. Jessica then moved smoothly and professionally into "selling mode," listing the property, holding several open houses, and actively seeking to "market" the condo. An exceptionally well-qualified buyer was found within two weeks of when the condo went on the market (16 December to 29 December). Jessica kept our family well informed about every development as the sale moved from offer to settlement on 16 February. We had some "unique" issues involving the family trust and a complicated real estate issue, and Jay provided invaluable advice and assistance based on his long experience as a broker.
