Removed, so I'm putting my review back…read more Travis, Quan and Bruce The guys arrived 15 mins early and helped me pack 3 floors of "living" into a 26 foot truck. They also stopped on the way at a furniture store and picked up additional furniture. Drove to my new location and unloaded everything in less than 2 hours. Travis is an absolute professional and strategic in placing items in the truck to maximize usage. Bruce is a joy and charming as charming can be. Quan is an absolute gentleman and wrapped everything meticulously. These guys are awesome. I could not have made this move without them.

My wife and I chose Safe & Sound Moving Company for our move from Chapel Hill, North Carolina to…read moreAtlanta, Georgia. We chose Safe & Sound because of the company's stellar Yelp reviews and its average Yelp rating when compared to other moving companies in the Triangle. Safe & Sound seemed like a safe bet and I'm happy to report that it was. We moved from a two-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom condo. We added on: (1) a stop to drop off furniture at my parents' house in High Point, North Carolina and (2) haul-away of some items in Atlanta. The total cost for everything was $4,075, broken down as follows: * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (0.5 hour, additional time required) - $77.50 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in High Point (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in Atlanta (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * Deposit for travel and truck - $50 * Haul-away (junk removal) of double mattress, double box spring, bed frame, one standard dining room chair, and torchiere floor lamp - $125 * Remainder of balance for travel - $2,875 * Additional cost/payment - $182.50 * Tip for mover 1 - $150 * Tip for mover 2 - $150 A $485 total deposit was due upfront to secure the reservation. We asked for the movers to show up at a specific date and time. We paid the $485 total deposit 26 days in advance with a credit card. The rest ($3,590) was paid via multiple Zelle transactions after we arrived in Atlanta. In hindsight, I think I may have overpaid $50 because the $50 deposit for the travel and truck was included in our $485 total deposit. I believe that same $50 was included in the remainder of the balance for travel. In other words, I think the $2,875 above should have been $2,825, but I could be wrong. Also, in my stress and exhaustion from the move, I forgot what the additional cost/payment of $182.50 was for. It made sense at the time, when I signed the form ("Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading - 35 Miles or Less") after the move was complete. I was just happy it was over and that my wife, the movers, and I all made it safely to Atlanta in three separate vehicles on moving day. I do think all of the costs could have been communicated more clearly in writing for our understanding. Money aside, as for the move itself, it generally went well. We scheduled a 9:00-10:00am arrival window for the movers. This was on a Wednesday. We were packed and ready to go at 9am. Unfortunately, the movers were delayed and showed up around 10:45am. They arrived in a 26-foot white Penske truck. It's my understanding they rented it that morning. While it was overkill for the amount of stuff we had, I believe it was the best available truck at the time. It looked new. The movers were Hamza (lead) and Sula. They were great. Very kind and polite. These were young guys in their early 20s. They both wore Safe & Sound T-shirts. They worked hard, quickly and carefully wrapping and protecting our queen mattress and furniture with stretch wrap and blankets, and moving all sorts of heavy boxes and miscellaneous items (e.g., my awkward and heavy standing desk system, computer monitor, office chair mat, torchiere floor lamp, vacuum cleaner) from our third-floor apartment with no elevator on a hot summer day. At the loading site, we treated them to cold Gatorades. It took them about 1.5 hours to do the load in Chapel Hill. We left Chapel Hill around roughly 12:30pm. Hamza ran the show. We made it clear which items were to be dropped off first in High Point and which items were going all the way to Atlanta. No issues there. My parents were very happy with Hamza and Sula's work at the unload in High Point. The two made it to Atlanta around 10:00pm and the unload in Atlanta took less than an hour. Long day. My wife and I made it to Atlanta earlier - around 7:30pm. Unlike Hamza and Sula, we did not stop in High Point. We wanted to get to Atlanta before them so we could get the condo ready for the unload. It worked out. Hamza told me they were going to try and drive back to Raleigh/Cary that night! Only one of our items, a shoe rack, was damaged. All things considered, not a big deal so I didn't bring it up. I can remember three other moves I did with three other moving companies and one item was damaged in each move. It happens. For the haul-away, I only mentioned the mattress and box spring. I added on the other items when I saw them in Atlanta. They didn't charge me extra for that, which I appreciate and must mention here. I sent the tips directly and individually to Hamza and Sula for a job well done. As for scheduling and payment, my wife and I communicated with Jaber (a.k.a. Omar), the owner of Safe & Sound Moving Company. Jaber was on top of everything and quick to respond via Yelp messaging, text messaging, and phone calls. Thank you, Jaber, Hamza, and Sula!

(This move has been a stressful one for me.) They called to confirm the night before, and on the morning of, my two gents (shout out to Ross and CJ!) showed up 30 mins early. EARLY! That's unheard of in this day and age. I was impressed!!!! It took these two about 3hrs to unload our 16ft POD. I wasn't aware, but they do a 10% military discount. (We paid cash to avoid the 3% card fee.) There was a $100 deposit at the time of booking, which came off our bill. And of course, we tipped--which they are allowed to accept. (Thanks Ken for being an amazing owner that allows that!) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LMS for your moving needs. While this move was out of pocket for us, I hope that they're contracted with the military for our next (and FINAL, hallelujah) move. Ross and CJ, much love to you both. Thanks for being all around great humans!

Goldsboro, NC - Two Men and a Truck The movers did not try…read moreto be careful and did not try very hard to protect the furniture from moving damage, but they were otherwise professional and they were friendly. The problems included: -The Tow Men showed up an hour earlier than scheduled and so arrived before the furniture was ready to be moved. The Two Men apparently had not been told of the time on the agreement. -Half of the furniture that was, and half of the furniture that was NOT, protected with moving blankets was knocked into doorways, walls, etc. Or it was allowed to grind on wood stairs and/or the unprotected edge of metal surfaces, and/or bounced down stairs or on/off of the truck with no protection between the weight carrying nose-plate of their hand truck and polished table tops and other easily scratched highly visible surfaces. -The items with polished easily scratched highly visible surfaces that were being moved into storage were NOT protected with blankets but were still carried through the house, loaded then unloaded on, and then off of, the truck, moved through the storage buildings doorways and corridors. And again, half of these pieces without moving blankets were knocked into doorways, bounced on the unpadded nose-plate of the hand-truck, etc. The Two Men did protect some furniture with blankets but not any of the items that were being placed into storage, even though these pieces could be damaged in the same ways. -Frame of a mirror was broken because it was not properly protected and/or handled. -The Tow Men bashed a heavy chest of drawers into the ceiling/wall corner above the staircase. -They broke the molding on a doorway as they moved furniture through it. The damage was at eye-level and so would be very noticeable afterwards without careful repair and repainting. -They carried unprotected wooden chairs two at a time by their top back cross-piece after being told the glue in the chair-joints should not be trusted. Then also banged the chairs on doorways or each other while they were being carried. -The polished highly visible surfaces of furniture that were NOT protected by moving blankets were allowed to rub against, or fall into and rub against, each other in the back of the truck while the truck was being driven to be unloaded. -They left an unloaded rocking chair sitting upright but with one runner completely and obviously not attached at one end. -At least one of the Two Men either used marijuana mouthwash or was high during the packing/loading and the much later unpacking/unloading

They did not use the proper boxes for dishes and kitchen items. My husband moved furniture for years so we know what should be used. They only used 4 boxes for the whole home. The angry mover threw all of the pictures in one box, not wrapping a single item. Everything else was just put on the truck without packing. Of 12 moves this was the worst move ever. One of the workers complained about everything as if this was a complementary move. Maybe he forgot that we are paying customers. We still can't figure out why he was angry. He kept saying he was going to quit the moving business because he was tired after 37 years. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Two of the workers were great and the owner/manager was great but to see people not care about a love ones's items who passed away was very offensive. The angry guy moved the washer and scraped the whole door and when asked about it, he said that we could just wipe it off. I have had local moves and long distance moves before because we are a military family and this was by far the worst experience ever! I would have spent $1,000 to receive great service but we picked this one because the owner/manager was nice on the phone and it seemed to be a black owned business and we tried to support it. Never again. We will be moving to NC soon and thought about using this company to move the items from storage to our new home but we will not because the next movers will have to pack the items that these movers did not pack. Desk items like pens, notebooks and magazines should always be boxes. You don't throw them on a truck. Do not use this company.
