I have known Mary Deggelman since 2007 and I can't say enough nice things about her. I went to…read moreschool with her, and she is a phenomenal therapist. I appreciate her therapeutic orientation. She is a very skilled therapist if you need someone who is holistic. She is one of the healthiest people I know, body and mind. If you seek someone who can support you in a period of transition, growth, mourning, grief, or stagnation, she is the ideal therapist. I often recommend patients to her because I trust her judgment and theoretical orientation.

Her style of therapy was captivating to all of us and exactly what we needed. The fact that you don't sit in an office for the entire session but rather take a walk together in the fresh air really allowed us to open up. I first started seeing Mary when my daughter was in the third grade. I was searching for tools to help in our mother/daughter communication challenges. Not only did Mary provide a sense of comfort to me, but also to my daughter. It was awesome showing my daughter that I am willing to do anything to make sure our relationship stronger than ever because a mother/daughter bond is so important. Mary really helped my daughter develop ways to communicate to us and provided her a safe outlet. Throughout these sessions, Mary helped identify issues that I suppressed for years and were just surfacing when I became a parent. She identified underlying topics, helped me cope with them, and then provided tools to overcome them! She not only help me with ways to open up and heal myself but also is making me a better mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. My family saw such a difference in me, that they were open to the idea of therapy and had full trust in Mary. I have seen Mary for personal, couple, and family therapy! Walking and talking was the perfect therapy. When you are walking you are just talking to "as trusted person" and opening up about various topics. These tools are life strategies you take with you long after your sessions with Mary. If you are looking for someone to talk to for your self, your children, your spouse, or all of the above, I would highly recommend Mary. My entire family would say the same!!!

He invited me to a joint session. First thing, I was greeted with a 2 sided page with a list of more than 100 words and phrases in small font that were considered "red light" words that I was not supposed to use. So right off, I was hesitating with every sentence so that I could check the 2 pages and use the "green light" words. Later on, when I started crying, John sat back, rolled his eyes, and said "oh please!". I said to him - "are people not allowed to cry here?". He then started to tell me he's not a male chauvinist; the "proof" is that he's married and has daughters. That doesn't prove anything. The last straw was when I was talking a lot, he held up his hands in a time out gesture, in a T, hitting the top hand on the bottom hand. I said "wow what was that?". He said what's wrong with that? I didn't do this - and he stuck up his middle finger. That was it. Never went back. Needless to say, he did not influence my husband in a positive way. I am a medical health care provider, and have been to therapy myself. This was very inappropriate and unethical behavior for a therapist - actually for anyone!
