My child's eyes were dilated almost an hour ago. They don't allow food and drinks so prepare for your kid(s) to be bored and asking for food, even if they eat before their appointment. Very crowded! Some parents had to sit far away from their child(ren) because there weren't many seats available. I believe they overbook to accommodate for no-shows. We got NUMEROUS appointment reminders within the past couple days about our appointment--even after I confirmed the appointment. I inquired about why it's taking so long and why people who came after us are being seen before us but they said it's different doctors. I've only seen one. Not to mention the parents that was complaining about the wait time were told the same then seen before us, even though they came after. I think they pushed us back to accommodate to the parents that were complaining. I'll be looking for an alternative practice to take my child in the future.

Dr. Strong hadn't…read morementioned my eyes being "misaligned" during last year's exam (no prior eye drs had ever said that either) so I assumed it was in relation to my need for bifocals or progressives, which we discussed for the first time this year. She said I'd benefit from a special type of lens called Neurolens but it was not covered by insurance and costs about $1000! After the appointment, I wanted to learn more about the lens, as anyone would before they consider spending that much money on something. I became concerned when I saw "misalignment" means strabismus which is being cross-eyed. At this point my curiosity about a lens turned to worrying about what was going on with my eyes so I scheduled an appointment with a strabismus specialist. I went to the appointment prepared with a list of questions like what's causing my eyes to cross, is there anything that can be done to keep it from progressing, etc. The doctor examined my eyes and found no misalignment or other issues that would justify the use of Neurolens. This experience has been very frustrating. I can't help but feel this was a sales pitch to sell Neurolens.

I've since had two vision field studies performed at Maple Lawn Eye Care and have purchased two pairs of glasses with updated prescriptions. Dr Ely's partner, Dr Sanford Cohen, is putting me through weekly vision therapy at his office in Silver Spring. Today's vision field updated study shows vision improvement. Very encouraging ! Vision loss of any kind is tough to take. But Drs Ely, Cohen and staff have settled me down and charted a course to recovery. And I'm very pleased with both new pairs of glasses.

When I visited this office recently, they had disposed of all their old records and denied corrective surgery that I described never happened. The link below describes the exact procedure however (quoting) Before 2009, medical adjunctive approaches to prevent neovascularization and future recurrence of pterygium included application therapy with beta radiation. (UPDATE) The benefit of beta radiation is that is exhibits very low penetration, thus the radioactive source was shaped to expose primarily the pterygium with little to no radiation exposure to the cornea. The Physician who argued this topic owes me an apology. So... It's disturbing enough that they disposed of my old medical records, but they were excessively rude; accusing me (in essence) of fabricating my medical history by pioneer surgeon Dr. Richard Sussel. I write this in memory of the fabulous Dr. Richard Sussel and the impact he achieved on my visionary health.
