This is such a wonderful Montessori school! We highly recommend it…read more Our daughter previously attended a large Montessori school in bustling NYC for two years. Being used to the eclectic and energetic vibes of city life, we had inhibitions in how she would take to attending such a small and quiet school. Along with her previous classmates and guides, she was used to walking the streets of Brooklyn, taking the ferry to Manhattan, and walking to various public parks. When we arrived to see Guidepost Montessori at Fairfax, we were struck by its quaintness. The children have their own play area in the back of the schoolhouse, surrounded by a picket fence. It is intimate, yet spacious enough for all of the children to enjoy. The school is very clean and organized. The classrooms are set up in typical Montessori fashion, with the added charm of displayed artwork made by the pupils. The faculty takes the time to decorate for the seasons and holidays. The most charming and wonderful aspect of this school is the faculty. From the Head of School, the Administrative Director, to the Lead Guides, Assistant Guides and After School guides, everyone is kind, caring, patient and gentle, and respectful. They immediately treated our family as one of their own. They are the reason our daughter loves going to school each day. She has flourished under their care and guidance and we cannot thank them enough.

I don't understand why this place has great reviews? I guess they are all old. I have not had good…read moreexperiences here. We ended up leaving but the amount of tuition they charge (and it keeps increasing every few months) is crazy for what we're getting. pot holes in the parking lot go unfixed, their signage on the awning got taken down (both did) now its a blank space that looks like something should be there. The inside has not great lighting and wall colors, it looks kind of dim/depressing, instead of bright and clean. I don't know where all this tuition money is going. It could use a facelift and better playground. The school aged kids room has 2 men as the sole providers and I asked if there were ever female assistants or helpers in there and was pretty much told " i know there's a stigma against male daycare teachers." Ok?? sorry males are responsible for 75-90% of the crimes I'm worried about. And Males constitute the majority of "offending" child care providers/babysitters reported to the police (77%) So I don't think that was a ridiculous question or even something ridiculous to be concerned about. And her lack of concern towards MY concerns was unsettling. We also had multiple incidents with my preschooler, one she told me the teacher grabbed her face because she wouldn't wash her hands, and it hurt. They didn't really do anything about it except, apparently, ask the teacher if she did that and she said no. Ok....Why would a 3 year old make up something so random? The preschool teacher also had a loud bell she would ring to get the kids to pay attention which my 3 year old was scared of and she had sensory issues with loud sounds after that started happening, she would freak out at any loud sound and it didn't stop until after we pulled her out. Another incident in the preschool classroom was that they were trying to get all the kids to be quiet and so they told them that here's a monster out in the hallway of the school and if they don't be quiet the monster will come in. So naturally, my 3 year old told me about this, very scared, and was scared of monster in the school and at home, especially at bed time, for awhile. Again, told the front desk, I don't think anything was done about it. My 3 year old went here for a year. She cried almost every day at drop off. She hated going there. I thought it would ease up eventually but it never did. My school ager liked the kids but that was about it. One of the school aged teachers even apparently sat there and told the kids he doesn't like them and what he doesn't like about each one, and some kids cried. I'm just glad I'm out of this money suck. It is not up to the standards that the local competition has, and shouldn't be charging the same tuition as the local competition. I would not recommend this place.

The school is the perfect size - large enough that there are plenty of teachers and friends, but small enough that all the kids and teachers know each other well. I also really like that the church location is set back from the road and more discreet for safety purposes. My kids have always loved the outdoor spaces as well - even when they were in-between playgrounds. The staff is incredibly loving and positive. They contact us whenever there is any issue, but when they have had to deal with things that could have been frustrating (potty training accidents, unexpected illness) they have never made me feel bad or embarrassed. One other aspect of Rise and Shine that we love is that our boys have had the opportunity to learn from teachers from other countries and some who speak different languages. I love that their teachers contribute to their learning and growth in ways that I haven't even thought of. Highly recommend!

She has a structured schedule that the children follow. Her home is clean and she provides home-cooked meals. She also has a great open backyard that the children play in when the weather is nice. Our son is transitioning out of daycare into preschool but he will miss seeing Muna everyday, as her house has become a second home for him. We drop him off with the peace of mind that he is well cared for in a safe and nurturing space. As first-time parents, my husband and I were incredibly nervous to send her at such a young age. Everything about Muna and her loving in-home daycare put us at ease. From the moment we met Muna, it was clear how much she adores the children in her care. She truly treats them as if they were her own. My daughter is now a happy, social toddler who loves to sing, dance, play, and talk, and we credit Muna's for much of that! Because of Muna, my husband and I have never had to worry about our daughter while we are at work. We have always known that she is in trusted hands. We will be forever grateful for the care she has provided for our family and would highly recommend her to any family looking for loving, experienced, and safe childcare.

As first-time parents while I worked from home, we were initially considering a nanny share, and I am so glad we found Ms. Muditha instead. Her warmth and professionalism along with her expertise in childhood development and Montessori education will instantly put you at ease. Her influence on your child will be evident as they demonstrate the incredible knowledge and habits they've learned through routine, instructional play, mealtime, potty training, naptime (read: sleep training), and so much more. She takes every opportunity to teach your child. I witnessed my son learn and develop so many practical life skills, motor skills, language, music, yoga, outdoor play, manners and more than you could imagine. At first I was anxious about my infant's safety with toddlers around but quickly understood Stepping Stone had that under control, and it didn't take long to realize my son was learning from the older children's example. Our son loved going to see his friends at Stepping Stone every day - from infancy until Ms. Muditha told us he was ready to move on to preschool. I cherish my time in knowing her, her staff and her family. While my son has been fortunate to have had wonderful caregivers and educators since, some of their names have been forgotten and their influence less noticeably impactful. Our family is eternally grateful and blessed that our son's formative early years were in Ms. Muditha's loving care.

My wife and I spent countless hours searching within a 10 mile radius of Burke for the best daycare. We couldn't find a single place, with availability, that checked all of our boxes until we found Stepping Stone Childcare. When our daughter started she was nine months old and not crawling efficiently (yet). Now Maddie is 14 months and running nonstop! Everyday she comes home with new signs or words and it's fascinating to see her grow; I know this is due to the care she's receiving by Ms. Muditha! Ms. Muditha has turned her entire basement into a baby/toddler paradise with a section for older children in her Montessori program. Now there's also an awesome play area setup outside where kids can enjoy outdoor activities. On top of our list of perks is communication and Ms. Muditha sets the standard for amazing communication; we get daily updates with what Maddie did and photos.
