We've been part of the TCCC community since our first of three was a baby, and they have been our extended family. It is clear that the teachers love the kids so much, and are so caring and attentive. Our oldest is now in kindergarten and TCCC was a huge part of setting him up to thrive. By the end of his last year he was doing math worksheets and writing short sentences, and that was all due to TCCC. Our two boys (2&4) are currently enrolled at the Tysons Corner Children's in McLean Virginia. We've had a wonderful experience thus far. The boys have teachers who truly care about their development and growth, and about preparing them for elementary school. We moved the older boy over to TCCC to make sure that he was ready to start kindergarten next year. He is excited about his daily learning, insisting that he can't miss any of his lessons. My baby is currently in the infant class, and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience we've had with TCCC so far. Like many parents, I was very nervous about returning to work and leaving my little one in someone else's care. However, TCCC made the transition so much easier for our family. The teachers are incredibly nurturing and truly care for each child as if they were their own. I've seen my daughter grow so much in just a short period of time, and I credit that to the loving environment the teachers and staff create every day. Throughout the year, TCCC offers a variety of fun and engaging activities and events for both children and their families, such as baby yoga & music, picnics, social gatherings, etc. These events have given us the chance to connect with other parents and feel more involved in our child's early learning experience. We have been part of the TCCC community since they opened a few months into the COVID pandemic (summer 2020). Each class has been amazing starting with the infant class and moving all the way up to the class preparing the kids for Kindergarten (Junior K). Teachers in each class have met our child where he is and helped him grow and develop. Many of the teachers have been with the school for 20+ years, which speaks to the kind of place it is and the type of community they have. The school has also been very accommodating for my child's allergy restrictions. My daughter has been at Tyson's Corner Children's Center (the McLean location) for over a year now. We started her as an infant at 8 months old and she has now been in the infant classroom, the pre-toddler one and pre-toddler two classrooms. I couldn't be any more thrilled with my experience at TCCC. The TEACHERS are incredible. Every time my child moves up in age and classroom, I am astonished to find that I love the next set of teachers just as much as the last. More importantly, the teachers are kind, patient, and loving with my daughter. Teachers are experienced at TCC- some of them have been in childcare for multiple decades. If I want advice on something like weaning from paci? Her teacher will have ideas. I get daily updates from her teachers that include pictures as well as notes on what she ate, diaper updates, fluid intake, nap length, etc. They also share what songs they are singing or books they're reading so that I can keep the theme going at home. Our son started in pre-toddler and has since moved into the toddler class. The teachers in pre-toddler did a phenomenal job helping him transition to full-time daycare (he was previously with Nana all day), he would even come home and when we asked about his friends the first people he would name would be his teachers. Leadership is very involved, they know all the kids by name and are active participants in center events like Beach Day, Halloween, etc. We've had a great experience and plan to keep him at TCCC until he is old enough for Wolf Trap Elementary and we intend to enroll our daughter as well once she arrives later this year! read more

Over 2 years ago. I moved to Tyson's with two toddlers, two and four years old at the time and my nanny was let go. I had to be back to work on Monday, I contacted TCC on Thursday and registered my boys. My younger one was a very tough transition as he had always been home with a nanny. The teachers were amazing, he transitioned quickly from potty training, to drinking milk from a cup, to group eating and socializing. He is five now and about to start KG. He has transitioned from a shy boy with massive social anxiety to a confident social butterfly. My 4 year old at the time of registration made amazing progress academically and entered KG with ease knowing his numbers, letters and sight words. He was the youngest in his KG class because of the cut off but he was on par with his peers. Thank you Ms Carmen for teaching both my boys in Junior KG. Anissa the director is amazing and is always so accommodating. Every class has amazing teachers dedicated to the well being, growth and happiness of their students. TCC Mclean was an amazing find. This review is based on the tour only (not enrollment). We had a wait a while for someone to let us in. The center was very busy and they may have been short-staffed, the office person who hosted our tour was very busy running around in circles. This was an afternoon tour and the kids were having afternoon snack time. All the kids were orderly and calm, sitting very nicely, the teachers seem to have things under control. The center was pretty clean overall. For some reason it felt like there could be more sunlight in the rooms, not sure if it's just the lighting or the just way the windows were located, not a huge deal though. The curriculum seemed well-planned and very educational. The playground area is very nice. The children seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves. I like that they have computer stations available for the kids. Overall, we thought this daycare was good compared to a lot of the other ones we toured in the area. Ended up considering this center, but preferring the SpringHill location just based on feeling, but even that one wasn't our final choice. read more

Our daughter has been a part of Tyson's Corner Children's Center (McLean location) since she was an infant and it's been the best decision we ever made. We chose TCCC because the staff had been there for over 12+ years in some cases, and the love and care they appeared to provide went beyond basic day cares where staff act like babysitters, turnover is high and dedication is lacking. You can always find a fancy daycare with the latest bells and whistles but at the end of the day the positive energy and warm care a caregiver shows your child is what makes the difference. The maturity, passion for children and training caregivers undergo sets TCCC apart, and you can see it in how much the children really love and trust their teachers. The teachers even care about each other, which also says a lot about the quality of staff who work at TCCC. Since joining the TCCC family, I've realized just how much goes into creating a loving environment. The organization is lead by very competent people who have high EQs as well as IQs. They carefully match the right teacher to the right class, and treat teachers with respect, compensating them appropriately. That's why the staff isn't transient; they are dedicated to your child the way you are dedicated to your child. Everything from the food, toys, activities and support staff is calibrated to create an environment we're very sad to leave once public Kindergarten starts. We've also been very pleased with the balance that TCCC strikes between academic and creative play time for the kids. Our daughter is constantly exposed to seasonal themes and fun hands-on activities that engage her mind without forcing learning on her. The staff cultivate her curiosity and do everything to communicate with the parents, so you never feel disconnected from your child's experiences. I would without hesitation recommend TCCC to any family, and I would happily sign up for private Kindergarten, if TCCC offered it. read more

My son has gone to TCCC from six months of age to Junior Kindergarten. I couldn't be happier with the staff and facilities. At one point we did consider moving my child to Bright Horizons, a new Center that opened extremely close to our house. In comparison, their facilities look more modern and as a corporation they use terms that attract parents like science lab and an indoor dedicated recess room. But I quickly realized the difference is in the staff. TCCC teachers have been carefully selected over decades of time and many have been personally groomed by the directors. That's something a new facility just doesn't have - decades of building an exceptional team. When a problem arises, the teachers and directors get involved to help all involved in a respectful and loving manner. What I love: this is a large center. The teachers have worked with hundreds of children preparing them for the next step. In the infant class I learned techniques for feeding, playtime, and napping. In the pretoddler space I watched as my son's friendships grew, it was a precious time. In the toddler room, I was shocked that my son was actually ready for potty training. In truth, TCCC did 90% of his potty training, we just had to take on the last 10%. In contrast, my sisters kids weren't potty trained for another year and a half to three years. In preschool, I watched as my son struggled with some of his classmates socially. It was painful to watch especially since he also was struggling with writing his letters (he just didn't have the motor skills yet). These two issues left our son wanting to stay home from school each day. I raised these issues with the teachers and the directors and they took on the challenge head-on. I watched as they helped our son get through this difficult time. Before we knew it, things got better and I as a parent learned a lot about working with great staff. In pre-k he loved all of the tactile toys so much (sand, etc.) that at the end of the day he never wanted to leave. Now in his final year junior kindergarten, he is preparing for elementary school. He has learned to write his first and last name, started reading, and his teachers are so involved in his development that they've helped by keeping me abreast of ways I can help in his personal development. Things I love: meeting great teachers and parents. It's common to invite the classmates to all birthday parties so I've really gotten to know the parents over the years. Amazing people. Field trips. In the summer the kids go on quite a few field trips. Parents are invited and so we get to go apple picking or to the pumpkin patch and see the kids interact with their classmates and teachers. Water play. In the summer the kids get a day of water play. They love it! Show and share. Kids take a toy to school to play with other kids once a week. Politeness. Others are shocked at how polite our son is. The grandparents compare our son to his cousins and think I raised my son right. LOL I don't dare say most of that is tccc. Friendships. He's really going to miss his best friends next year. He's known them since he was six months old and I've watched his friendships evolve and blossom. Extra classes. They have a busy schedule as the school brings in tons of outside organizations to introduce the kids to new things on a regular basis: puppet shows, computer lab, little Einstein's science lab. The one man band. Spanish class, soccer, yoga, Zumba, swimming (summer camp in the very last year), bicycling, scooters. Reptiles, magicians, you name it, I can't keep up with his amazing curriculum. TCCC is a fantastic daycare center and I would recommend it highly to anyone. My son is in the Infant room and we've had a very rewarding experience. He gets plenty of attention with the best teacher-child ratio in the area and the teachers are all very tenured and really love their students. The environment at TCCC is like a family and all the staff knows my little boy and always says hi. He can't wait to return to his class after the weekend! I toured several centers while I was pregnant and TCCC stuck out as the most attentive and caring. My two children have had wonderful experiences at both the Spring Hill and McLean locations of TCCC, and the teachers and management teams have worked with us through both easy times and tough transitions. We chose TCCC after learning that many of the teachers had been there for 5, 10, even 15 years. They made us feel at home, and we knew it was the right choice for us. Both kids started at 4 months old at the Spring Hill center. All of the teachers there were excellent, but especially the talented teachers in the infant room, who gently taught us a thing or two while taking amazing care of our children. There is a lovely community feel to the Spring Hill center--all of the teachers knew us and our children, as did many of the other parents. After 4 years at the Spring Hill center, we recently switched over to the McLean location to take advantage of their junior kindergarten program, which is dedicated to preparing children for school in their last year of daycare. We hadn't seen any other program like it, and we're enjoying watching our son blossoming as a "big kid," enjoying learning and playing with his peers. Just like the Spring Hill center, the McLean center boasts talented, caring teachers and staff, and we couldn't be happier with the decision. One of the unique features of TCCC is that it's a parent-run co-op. All parents donate a few hours of their time (or a few extra dollars) each year to assist the classes. Parents also have input into many aspects of the centers. Compared to many of the corporate daycares in the area, we liked the idea of having a say in the direction of our children's care. read more

Tysons Corner Children's Center is a great place for a child to learn and grow. The teachers are fantastic, and the average tenure is incredible. The teachers to child ratios well exceed the requirements, and they even have wonderful floater teachers that improve the ratios even more. My son has thrived in this environment, and has made a lot of friends in the process. He loves Spanish class, Chinese club, computer class, science class, and all of the other amazing activities. The school is not for profit, which is important to me because my son is not earning them revenue, rather his tuition and fees go straight into his and the other children's education and development. My husband and I have two daughters at Tysons Corner Childrens Center's Spring Hill location and couldn't be happier with our decision to send them there. We toured several daycare centers in the area before our now 3-year old was born, and we instantly felt comfortable with TCCC and knew it was the right choice for our family. Even though it was really hard to leave our baby with anyone at first, it was a relief knowing that she was in such capable and loving hands at TCCC. I can't imgine taking my girls anywhere else. TCCC is an excellent daycare center. Our children have received outstanding care, formed lasting bonds with their teachers and friends, and have gained knowledge and skills. Through the years, we have had a child in every classroom in the center, so we can speak to the high quality of the teachers, the staff, and the environment across the board. The teachers have an average tenure that far exceeds other centers and that's because they are treated really well and have such a great working environment. This is beneficial to the kids because they have continuity in who their teacher is - and their teacher knows all of the families that attend the center. Since the center is not for profit, all extra money goes back into the teachers' salaries and supplies/toys/activities/programs for the kids. We even got a small refund one year because the budget allowed for it - how many other centers would do that?! Bottom line: this is a fantastic center and one visit would show you how amazing and reasonable the staff are, how intellectually stimulated all the kids are, and how loving, caring, and competent the teachers are. read more

Tysons Corner Children Center is a fantastic place to send your child and I would recommend it to anybody in the area as the best solution to your childcare needs. Before my wife and I moved down here I was responsible for finding a place to send out infant daughter. I visited and interviewed over 12 facilities and none of them compared to Tysons Corner Children Center. Most of the places I visited had the standard toys and instructors but none of them felt as clean, coordinated and loving as TCCC. Miss Marge sat with me personally and answered all of my questions even though I didn't have an appointment and it was clear that she ran a tight ship with a heavy dose of hugs and encouragement. Her passion extends to the staff as well...all of whom have impeccable credentials and, more importantly to me, longevity! They have been working there for over a decade which tells me they love what they do and where they are. I find that my daughter is making lasting friendships, expanding as a person, and gaining valuable experiences that I wish I had when I was her age. If you are in the area and considering a childcare center then you should absolutely choose Tysons Corner Children's Center! read more

Our family has been going to TCCC for 7 years now, with both of our children starting in the infant room. When I first visited daycare centers in Tysons, TCCC was by far the best center. Often daycare centers have high staff turnover where the teachers are not engaged with the children. Not the case at TCCC! Many of the lead teachers have been with TCCC for many years (decades in some cases) and know and love the children well. The executive director started at TCCC a teacher and trained under TCCC's founder and has done a terrific job running the program. My daughter has a late August birthday and while I was hesitant to send her to kindergarten as the youngest in her class, she has thrived and is doing very well both academically and socially (now entering 2nd grade). The magic of this place is really the teachers - they are incredibly patient and kind, and have an average tenure of over 10 years (that's almost unheard of for a daycare center!) I've heard horror stories of other centers where the teachers come and go every few months, and I can't imagine how hard that would be for the children. I can't get over how much my kids are learning every day - our daughter doesn't go to kindergarten for another year and she's already prepared! We've also really appreciated how the Center took proactive measures to fix the issue of the parking, and now parking is easy and ticket-less. I'd recommend TCCC to anyone. read more

After transitioning to TCCC from a home day care, we felt reassured that due to all the rules and regulations, our child would be in safe hands at TCCC. We like the socialization (eating meals together, learning table habits) aspect of the classes from Pre-Toddler 1 through the Pre-K classes. Although TCCC is a non-profit, they do run a business and therefore maximize enrollment. According to the school administration, children are moved to the next class based on space availability and the child's readiness; however, we discovered much more of an emphasis to fill spaces than on our child's readiness. When a child in one of the older classes leaves the center, the administrators will tell the parents of a child in the next younger age class that they child is ready to move up. This has a trickle effect until the spaces are filled. My husband and I felt the administrators were urging us to move our child from the Pre-Toddler 2 class to the Toddler class earlier than we felt she was ready, so we declined. They used strong language to state that another spot may not be available for several months (suggesting my child may fall behind), which was not the case since there was another spot one and two months later. What parents need to know is they can say no to their child moving on if they do not feel their child is ready. We did feel that when our child was ready for the Toddler class, the teachers were excellent in potty training (at 2 yrs and 2 months). It helps that the teachers are persistent and have potty trained hundreds of children, and that they train with their peers. While we found that some teachers were exceptional and loving and communicate well with the parents, some are unfortunately not. Beginning with the Toddler class, the daily reports were not entirely accurate. By lunchtime, the teachers had marked the children had eaten their afternoon snacks as well as the amounts. The quality of the meat and the pasta was not something I would choose to eat. I saw a slice of cantaloupe given to each of the 2 year olds; not one child ate it because it wasn't cut into smaller pieces for them. Like I said, some teachers don't bother to make the effort. We were told the children in the McLean center have access to the Racquetball courts at the Sport & Health Club within the building. This seemed like an attractive feature given winter months indoors. The administrator told me the children would have daily access; however, after asking the teachers how often the children go, they said it was only a couple of times a week due to the Racquetball courts being unavailable to them. While the tuition is consistent, there are additional semi-annual fees parents must pay if they do not help out with the Center. In addition to that, the activities fees are unclear and inconsistent. As a parent, getting into and out of the McLean center could be difficult given the ticket machines were often broken. Plus, there's the 15-20 minutes you have to get in/out of the parking lot without being charged or remembering to get a parking validation. Instead, parents should be issued a fob where they can enter/exit without the daily tickets. Our review of the curriculum for older kids (Preschool and above) at TCCC was not as strong as other centers. When we left the Center and enrolled our child in another Preschool, she was already behind in academics. However, the curriculum is great for younger children (Infant through Toddler). All in all, we found TCCC to be a safe place for our child and convenient for working parents due to being open year round and 11 hours/day plus having snacks, drinks, and lunch served (not having to pack lunches is a plus). The organic milk, musical activities, computer classes, magic shows, are all a plus. read more

We could not be more thankful to have found TCCC when we were looking for daycare for our children. We had heard horror stories about other centers in Tysons with teachers constantly leaving and having no stability for the children. Not the case at TCCC - the teachers and management team truly care about the children, and many of the teachers have been with the center for 10+ years. It certainly has made a tremendous difference knowing that my children are loved and cared for while I am at work.
