In response to Xander S.'s review: while I can confirm that the student JJ has a history of bullying behavior--having targeted my own child--I disagree that this is a race-based issue. My daughter has experienced similar bullying from white students as well. The root of the problem at Hopewell seems to be an entitlement issue, where some children are raised to believe they are above others. I have trained my daughter to stand her ground. She is instructed to meet public insults with an equal response and to defend herself physically to the highest degree if anyone touches her. Respect is earned, and we will no longer tolerate 'royal' treatment at her expense. read more

My son started attending HMS in 2024 after our move from Loudoun County, VA, and we've been very pleased with the school. Communication is excellent across the board, from the Principal and school nurse to the teachers and front office staff. Most questions can easily be answered on the school's website, and their response time is consistently quick. The school itself is well-kept and welcoming, with an active PTA and additional STEM activities for students. Overall, it's a wonderful environment with a kind and respectful team. I'm very happy with my son's experience at HMS. read more

I worked 6 years at Hopewell and these were the most unhappy years of my career. Previously to this experience, I had 10 amazing teaching years at Autrey Mill Middle School and 2 fantastic years At Alpharetta Elementary School. Unhappily Hopewell Middle School became quickly a "Hopehell Middle School" to work as a competent and serious teacher. Teachers who play well politic games with the administrators at Hopewell Middle School are the ones who are valued and receive sipport even if they don't follow up with the basic disciplinary and safety school expectations: like being on time at work and at duties or to remain in class while teaching. It is a shame but it is true. i don't recommend this school as a safe place to work or to learn. read more

This is an amazing school, it gives good education and the staff is really kind and I don't think it deserves it's bad reviews, and it's really inclusive and the staff is also really helpful, and they also are a no place for hate center, so it's safe and also they try to comfort you when you're sad. read more

I was a student at this school for all of my middle school life and i can say with my whole heart that this school is no place for children. This school has ignored all the problems when you say that there is a problem. i have had friends who asked the counselor about trying to make the rules more enforced even to go so far as to screaming at them for help and it never showed up. and what they will do when there is a problem is if you give them a name or names they will call that person into the office and say that this person has been talking about you and said you have been doing all these things to them. Have you done any of these things. And of course the kid will say no and they will not question him more or try and look up security footage they will just say ok you can go and then call the person that reported them the next day and say that they said that nothing was wrong. Then they will ask you if your over reacting and then when you say no they go crazy and tell u to go back to class and then tell them again if it happens. The thing is that when it does happen again they never do anything about the problem. As well as the counselor who is never BY LAW not able to tell anybody a students info without their consent. and the 8th grade counselour told the vs princible all of my problems and never asked me about it. I also had a friend who got oss from school for 10 days and the reason was because 5 people who were mad at him decided to tell lies to the vs principle and she belived them and her excuse when she had none to back her up she decided to tell my friend while yelling "IF 2 OR MORE PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME STORY THEN ITS TRUE" which is bull shit and he got oss for 10 days straight. -Riley Caine Park Stanley 8th grade 2023 graduate read more

this is a terrible school it's always dirty when i have to come inside , the school environment is terrible. the 8th grade principal in horrible, rude,disrespectful, she has yelled in my chiless face and had her hand in ny kidd face before and i do not except that for a rude grown adult, does not know how to talk to people respectfully and with our yelling and using smart remarks and she needs to be fired. my child has never had problems at the school but this year the 8th grade principal mrs.consola is terrible and so is the principal of the whole school. i do not recommend this school for a child that's is going only their 8th grade year. read more

I have a niece that is a student at this school and she has been bullied for her hair, skin darkness, and weight for over 4 months. Her mother (my sister) had reported this to the principal and the counselor AND the police! Before another child commits SUICIDE because of bullying is there anything that can be done before our family contacts the media? The bullying has gotten physical and it's a group of boys! I am trying to reach out on her behalf because the family is already distraught and considering sending my niece to me in Nevada. That is ridiculously extreme for a child that's already dealing with her parents divorce. read more

Principal supports teachers over students. Spanish program is fun, but doesn't prepare students for HS, teacher is all fun and games and touts that her methods are superior to years and years of traditional teaching. That said, they have introduced video lessons over traditional teaching and overall has been a step back for the students. One good thing, the music department -- top notch. read more

i hate this school a lot of the students here are disrespectful and most of the teachers here aren't very good. the only great teacher is my orchestra teacher. I have been bullied and i contacted the counselor and they did a great job handling it but other students still kept doing it. one of them was a new kid who got a free lunch pass and they don't deserve it. also one of the other bullies hopefully moved which im very happy about read more

Very clean, modern school. They are good about preventing bullying and the teachers will keep you informed of how your child is progressing at all times, not just when a report card comes out. They are safe and the kids are getting an excellent education. read more

This is my son's first year attending this school and I must say that I am not all that impressed. I find that the staff can be biased and have a way of always making it appear that your child is wrong. they have their favorites and definitely are not that friendly. If your child has an IEP or needs any special needs, I would suggest shopping around before putting your child in this school. This is true especially if you have a child of color. There have been 2 confirmed incidents of where my child and his friend have been called the N-word. It has not been addressed. However, the academic portion is pretty good. If you want a good public education, this is the place, but if you have other options, i would look around. read more
