Yesterday, I am standing at the nurses station for 3-5 minutes and a nurse finally addresses me asking "Do you want something?" In my head I'm thinking- No, I'm standing here adorning the the counter. No one wants to be bothered. If my husband needed changing, a beverage or info regarding his medical plan it is ignored. I used to recommend Albany Med with high marks, no more!!! Oh, and the attending physician never even tried to connect with me for two days after I left several avenues to communicate information. If anyone assures you that they will contact you with any significant updates- they lie. To be fair, I am specifically commenting on D 420's.

My husband John and I have experienced several rehab facilities over the years. Some so-so, some…read morevery bad. John came to Glendale for rehab in early April 2025. What a wonderful place! John and I are very impressed. His private room is very spacious with three large picture windows looking out to lovely fields and woods. It's immaculately clean. All the staff are wonderful, especially OTs and PTs. They have given John many hours of therapy with great compassion, kindness, and professionalism. He is in a lot of pain. The aides and nurses are so caring and kind to him. In his younger years, he had a band which played at Glendale often. We love that there is entertainment in the Multi-Purpose Room about twice a week, including everything from folk bands, DJs, and even an Elvis impersonator! Last week, an ice cream social was held outside with a singer and Mr. Ding-a-Ling giving out ice cream. This type of thing helps relieve boredom which can happen easily when confined to a bedroom. Also, once a week religious services are given. As devout Catholics, we appreciate mass and communion each Tuesday. The Director Todd visits every resident to make sure they are happy and asks if there is anything he could do to help them. We never saw this before in other facilities. John says the food is wonderful. I wish I could eat there every day. A menu is given a month in advance so you can select all of your meals. On Thursdays, pizza is delivered by a local pizzeria. Every place is spotless. If you have any concerns, they are addressed immediately. So I thank everyone who works at Glendale Home. You make my life and my husband's live very much better. Thank you. Not only do I not smoke but management didn't even have the basic decency to conduct a fair interview or listen. Treating prospective candidates with such immediate disrespect and bias is completely unacceptable and shows a total lack of integrity in their leadership.

I had such high hopes for this place. It was my first long term inpatient rehab. Staff seemed…read morepretty friendly, even if it didn't seem genuine, and staff turnover seemed to happen often. It was a laid back place when I was there, not very strict, and maybe that was part of the problem. My "long term" stay ended up being only 6 months. They moved me into their supportive living after that in the worst part of Albany, down Morton. In a few months, after being offered drugs by my Uber driver, since everyone knows where you're staying and preys on the weak, I relapsed, and OD's. Instead of having my back and giving me more support, maybe taking me back into inpatient, they left me high and dry, kicking me out of my apt for the weekend. They allowed me to pack up all my stuff, and leave it locked in the apt.. well without my knowledge they moved it into their basement, without locking up anything, and their current inpatient clients went through my stuff and stole everything from jewelry to shoes to my meds. My counselor was so unprofessional its sickening. Many girls I went there with have since gotten high and/or drunk. Please if you have a loved one or actually want to get help, go somewhere else and it may just save your life.

The staff here seemed a cut above what I saw in other nursing homes. In other facilities there was a lot of staff turnover but many of the personnel at VRM had been there for years.

Great staff, big rooms with natural light, a playground (multiple) out back, CONCOURSE ACCESS for indoor walks and travel to the NYS museum (not like there's ever a need for an indoor walk in Albany), outside twice a day as toddlers, outside every day as babies, they use the parks near them and enjoy picnics in Washington Park or the sprinklers in Lincoln Park....I always felt safe and comfortable with her at CP, and when I picked her up she would often be very busy playing, even at the end of the day. No teachers on phones taking pictures of kids to text to parents. No screens, no swings, no bouncers. They have their methods and they involve really respecting the kids.
