(warning this is a long review but I hope its helpful to my fellow first timers!) After my 30th birthday, I decided to check out Advanced Aesthetics to see when I could do to brighten my skin, or if I should be using a product daily to help keep my skin "fresh" looking, etc etc. I booked a dermaplane facial with Chelsey Graham. When I arrived, the office is tucked in the Alder Creek area near N. Phoenix Hwy - had good parking, the office is super clean and welcoming. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist right away. The esthetician, Chelsey, was running on time for my appointment- during the dermaplane facial, she was fun to talk to, which is always a plus! She's super knowledgeable and spent time talking to me about my skincare concerns. The facial itself was amazing! I have since booked more appointments with Chelsey, and can't believe I went 30 whole years without a facial! For those of you that aren't familiar with a dermaplane, the esthetician uses a small sterile blade while holding the skin taut, swiping the blade in a gentle upward position. Doing this removes dead skin but BONUS also removes little unwanted hairs. AND it leaves my skin feeling baby smooth. At this appointment, I was also informed that by removing all of the dead skin, products can better penetrate the skin - so that you're not throwing your money away by using product on dull, dead skin... news to me but makes perfect sense! Speaking of products, Chelsey has since introduced me to the Obagi line, and this has changed my life! If you're looking for something that works - ask them about Obagi! I'll wrap this up but I would absolutely recommend Chelsey and the rest of the staff at Advanced Aesthetics to my family & friends! I instantly felt comfortable and trust them with my skincare goals! It was my first time getting a massage from... a professional, I guess? And wow it was so amazing. My therapist was Vaia, and I think his was Brittany. They were both so nice, and after telling Vaia I had never had a real massage before she was understanding (I felt pretty lame going into such a fancy place not knowing what I'm doing or getting into) and nice and was asking me what kind of pressure I like and I said I didn't know, and she just said we'll see what happens and I could feel free to let her know what I needed and wanted, and what areas I want her to focus on, etc. I ended up just not even saying anything during the massage because it was just perfect all around! I knew about the lounge going in, and it's so relaxing. With the escape package we got some champagne and chocolates and got the whole "oasis club" area to ourselves for a whole hour. It's so lovely in there with the infra-red sauna, steam room, nice showers with great products you can try for yourself, and the Himalayan salt room which is my favorite part, and ended up being my husband's favorite too (even though at first he was skeptical and didn't understand what the point of a pit full of salt was)... Overall it was a really easy and nice experience scheduling and everything. It was such a lovely time. For my first spa experience I'm really really pleasantly surprised because I assumed it was going to be awkward! It was very relaxing. Afterwards I felt relaxed and skin was glowing which is always what I want after a facial. But this is my second time getting a facial here and I'm just not impressed with the facility. The steamer was making a ticking sound the whole time, they refilled the Mrs. Meyers hand soap container in the bathroom with something that wasn't Mrs. Meyers... which is never reassuring when you pick a facial place based on the products you're trusting they use... and the salt room/cold plunge, sauna area is just meh.
