I am so excited to find out "Hooper" is on Yelp! We had to employ a traveling notary due to our crazy week hours. I had just returned from an 11 hour work day, the hubby even longer-- we were both exhausted and hoping this would not take all the rest of our evening. Earl and his wife arrived on time and were immediately so personable, it was almost as if we were inviting old friends or family we haven't seen in a while thru the front door.
When we sat down to start signing, Earl began explaining a lot of things on the paperwork, not just process, but actually delineating what all the fees were for, etc. *uh oh* I thought, I guess we were going to be here awhile!
To my utter shock, he grew on us pretty quickly and we didn't mind the longer, drawn out signing process.
As the night wore on and we had lots of Earl-scribbled "pictures" (to illustrate his accompanying stories to explain stuff to us!), I found myself really enthralled with everything he had to say (imagine not being able to stifle a yawn, but not being able to go to sleep either because you don't want to miss out on something!).
That night, the hubby and learned a LOT more than we ever imagined about escrow (ok, yeah I know that sounds insane) and without the reluctance to sit thru the "lesson" like I had imagined it would be. Earl is a totally engaging individual with so much life experience and with such strong character and integrity. Oh, and did I mention he's hilarious! Quadruple threat! This is going to sound CRAY but I never knew either of my grandpas, so I am always mildly aware that I totally missed out on that experience. Yeah that's right, I want to adopt Hooper to be my granddad. Is that legal?? I never thought I'd say this in a zillion years, but signing loan docs was a pleasure!
One last thing: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, Earl. read more
