I have gone to this place twice now, and I was very disappointed both times. The establishment both nights had very few customers because of the week day which means in my eyes that customer service should be excellent and it was not. Last night when I arrived I asked for sparking water and lime, he came back and said we don't have sparkling water. I said ok bring me club soda, he said ok and brought me back regular water. I said Sir, I asked for club soda with lime, he said ok and came back and said we don't have lime. I said ok bring me the club soda, that took 10 mins for whatever reason. I also ordered a hookah and it took 36 mins to come out I know that was the exact time because I was on the phone when I ordered it. He brought the hookah out and one o his friends that he has not seen in a long time came in so he was talking to him with my hookah in his hand instead of bringing it to me. I had to get up and ask him if that was my hookah and he said yes and I said can I have it? He said oh yes. Very unprofessional. He didn't check on the table but once and we were there for 2.5 hours. Our tab came out to $400 for a 2 Greek salad bowls, 2 orders of shrimp, 2 hookah's, and 4 drinks. While the bill was high, that's not why I am upset but for the prices you are charging everything should be excellent. The service was less than par, the salad had very little dressing and when we asked for more he tried to take the bowl of salad instead of bringing us a cup so we could pour our own. The hookah coals were old and heated very quickly and we had to beg for more coals. The ambiance was good it's a very quiet place and plenty of seating but everything else is terrible. He said the same thing about having to wait 3 hours after the purchased groupon. THE GROUPON SAYS NOTHING ABOUT THAT. My partner was in the restroom, he told me I can't hookah alone, and then I told him that my "friend" is in the bathroom. I asked him how much hookahing would be if we wanted to stay, he said $14.99. He was not understanding about how the groupon said nothing about having to wait 3 hours to use it, and the owner and staff were not welcoming. It was horrible costumer service. We felt that we were not welcome for some reason. We drove 20 miles to use the Groupon and the owner was not apologetic at all and even encouraged us to leave a bad review on Yelp. read more

After mastering the art of Debka (traditional Arab folk dance) at Mijana, we skipped on over to Hookah Mania for a brief introduction and to request another round of ocean berry mint. I was asked if I wanted "in" on a card game that was about to start. These guys looked pretty serious about the game so I declined. I told them I wasn't familiar with the game and that I didn't have the attention span to last beyond the first hand. They chuckled and continued on with the deal. We then walked over to meet the DJ who was a friend of a friend and was spinning some mad Latin beats. I think it was Samba inspired and I really liked it. The lounge area is inviting and makes great for intimate or group parties. The furniture is vintage-velvety and the placement of overhead paper/glass chandeliers is quite romantic. The food and hookah was good, but the staff is not at all friendly. We had to flag the people down when we needed anything. Also, we had purchased a groupon and upon receiving our check realized that something was really wrong. The check was abnormally high and we questioned why. Apparently we were charged for items we didn't order and twice for gratuity. They charged 20 dollars in gratuity on a 45 dollar bill. Not just the worst hookah experience I've ever had, but possibly the worst business experience as well. Where do I start? First, they were over 30 minutes late opening because the employee couldn't find the key. When we were seated inside and explained we had a Groupon, the guy had absolutely no clue what we were talking about. He acted as if they had never run a Groupon special. It was supposed to cover hookah, two waters/sodas, and a Lebanese appetizer. They refused to give us the appetizer because "we've never seen this Groupon before." We pulled it up on Groupon to show them the terms but were still refused the food. Um, okay. So as we're waiting for the hookah to come out, my friend had to use the restroom. She said (and I later confirmed) that not only did it not have toilet paper, but it smelled like something died deep within the sewage system. Not like "oh, gross! Someone just pooped right before me." More like, "Holy shit. We should probably call a CSI unit to investigate this bathroom." G-r-o-s-s. The hookah was decent, I'll say that. Unfortunately, halfway through, another employee comes in and starts spray painting in the hookah preparation room. The ENTIRE place starts reeking of toxic fumes to the point that our throats began to burn. We tried to laugh it off a bit with, "Are you trying to kill us over here? ha ha" but they didn't even offer to open the door to ventilate the toxic chemicals. Pretty sure it's illegal to be doing spray painting while customers are inside--especially a place that serves FOOD. Not that we got any. Before we could make an escape, leaving earlier than we would have liked, the same employee who was late opening the place and clueless about the Groupon, insisted he take a picture of the Groupon on my phone even though it had already been redeemed. Absolutely terrible! I will never step foot in this place ever again. We had a large group and we ordered lots of hookah and food. The hookah was terrible! I have high standards for hookah and it was not met. The staff is incompetent and unorganized. The owner is beyond rude and disrespectful and should learn manners, and communication skills with customers. I hate writing bad reviews because I am a very easy going person but my experience was terrible. Two members from our group left earlier and paid in cash. The rest of us went to pay the rest of our check only to be told the previous two hadn't paid. We asked if they had receipts of their cash transactions and they did not! Who doesn't keep track of these things? Secondly, they have no cameras over the cashier. On a logical level this is beyond stupid. Forget the customers but do you really trust your employees? After 20 minutes and an extremely rude encounter with an un-polite uncooperative owner they find that the cash our friends paid was applied to a different check by their workers. My family owns a lounge in Vegas, these problems may arise but have some professionalism and control your mouth when talking to costumers. I will never go back. Hookah was terrible, service was terrible, I won't comment on the food since I didn't have it. But if you go make sure to sit at different tables from your group so the intelligent employees of this fine establishment don't mess up your check. In terms of quality of the food, it is eatable. In terms of service i suggest the manager set up a class for his staff so they know that 'do not put the chicken wing back in the plate when it falls out of the plate on the dirty desk'. I haven't been to a hookah lounge in AGES, but I know what makes a good vs. mediocre hookah lounge, and this one is GREAT! A friend and I went here on a weekday night. Nice decor and REALLY tasteful furnishings, and appropriate arabic music that's not too loud. Nice tall Egyptian hookahs with propper long-handled hoses - the way things should be! If you go to a hookah lounge and they're short hookahs with dinker hoses, walk out. Hookahmania has arabic-speaking clientele and staff. If you want, the word for thank you is "shukran." OK! In my reviews I like to put a few lines of "Inside Skinny," but here's a good chunk of I.S. from my own knowledge! They offer Al-Fakher, Starbuzz, and one other brand of moassell ("mah-sell") with a huge variety of flavors. For those in the know, and I don't care what anyone says, the hookah tobacco is NOT called shisha! Anyway, although lots of Al-Fakher flavors were listed, but unfortunately eskandrani apple was not among them. It's my favorite flavor from that brand and it's what put that brand on the map along with the few other "golden seal" flavors many years ago when the hookah craze was just starting. When you see "double apple" on the list, please remember that it doesn't taste like apple, but more licorice. That flavor was carried on because the Nahkla (far inferior brand) double apple is the classic most popular flavor in Cairo. So if licorice is your thing, double apple is for you. We ordered a berry-mango mix. Large clay bowl (you could have an orange bowl if you want) that lasted for a good long time even with semi-steady puffing. The coal service was expert of course, and the attendant started the hookah before landing it with us. Everyone is given individually wrapped plastic mouthpieces. The 3 coals are usually placed around the outside rim of the bowl to start and for most of the session. Feel free to scoot them around to a new position on the perimeter (tongs provided) after 30 minutes. If it starts to taste burny, remove the coals and let it sit for a few minutes and then put the coals back on. There, hookah course in a nutshell! Service was attentive - coals shifted and replaced, and bowl blown out once per session for you. Drinks are available of course. You can also order food from Mijana, the Lebanese restaurant next door. Mijana is a nice restaurant, so if you want a nice dining experience first, there you go. Haven't been inside, but it looks nice through the window. I think this is the best hookah lounge in town right now, and if I remember, they received a Best Of Phoenix award for just that. I was told they have bellydancers Friday and Saturday nights. So for a true and authentic hookah experience, Hookahmania is the place! I don't think I want a hookah from anywhere else. Remember to tip more than at a restaurant, the employees live on tips! Especially the coal tender / hookah server, he works his ass off. read more

Had we not been with friends who are regulars, I'm sure I would have felt very out of place. However, we relocated to Hookah Mania last Saturday after dinner at Mijana. Since we got there around 9, we were still able to grab a nice sitting area inside. It quickly filled up (inside and out) and soon the (loud) Arabic music was filling every inch of the place. We ordered one of their special hookah mixes, but it seems as though the slow service from Mijana carries over to Hookah Mania. It took a good 20 minutes to get our hookah. A very good belly dancer came and was fantastic entertainment. She balanced a SWORD, people. On her HIP! Mind. Blown. The couches/chairs are very comfortable and there are flat screen tv's against the walls. Bottom line- go early to get a table and get your hookah before the masses show up. read more

I did hookah for the first time this weekend with some friends at this location. We smoked Blue Mist Mint I think. It was smooth with a good flavor. We sat outside since it was nice out. Service was great and the owner came out more than once to check on everyone and conversed with us. Food was good, my friend wanted the chicken wings a specific way and they had no problem accommodating. Inside was really nice, decent seating, great music inside and out and a belly dancer. I smoke a lot of hookah.. Literally a lot of hookah and I work on the east side so after work my friend wanted to go to the hookah bar. We ended up coming here because my friend has came here before and it was close to the airport because i had to pick up somebody. So we came in the girl that worked their was very nice she told us to sit down wherever and she came with menus. We ordered a Arabic tea pot and a orange head with orange creme and mint. They ran out of orange creme so we decided to go with blue mist. When the hookah came out.. The orange head was slanted so when you put the coals they would fall off. So we tried fixing it ourselves. Didn't really work. We had 3 coco charcs on their and it wouldn't light up so we put 4 and it was barley hitting. The hookah was terrible we literally just put like 5-6 charcs and smoke harshness over nothing and it was 28$ total. We paid and we left and we won't be coming back. No sense of good hookah. The chai was good but that's about it. 2 stars for the nice girl and the good chai. read more

Horrible experience. Bought a groupon and went on a whim. See below for rant: Our server couldn't get our hookah order and food order at the same time. Took him about twenty minutes to get our hookah to us and then another ten or so before someone else (the owner I assume) to get our order. Then came to us and said they were out of the cheese platter and asked if we wanted anything instead whereupon we requested another menu. Instead of coming right back took another ten minutes to come and get our replacement order. We got the lentil soup which wasn't good at all, the way the menu explained it we expected a broth with lentils, carrots and onion. It was all ground and so much seasoning and grit you couldn't even tell it was lentil soup. We got our entree and then the wings, which was our replacement order after that. No one ever came to check on us about the food or the hookah, Change our coals, make sure everything was okay or anything. At one point the pineapple bowl actually started to fall and almost came off completely. We finally asked someone to find our server after waiting for over 30 minutes and he came out saying that fruit bowls are "hard sometimes" and started to take the coals off. One actually fell onto the ground where my foot would have been had I not moved it in fear of the pineapple falling, which we couldn't do anything about since it was so hot and he just laughed and said oops, sorry. We asked for our bill and got a bill without the groupon discount and we were charger for the cheese platter they were out of. We then again had to ask someone else to get our server because we waited so long for him to come back for our check. It was the worst service I've ever had. The wings were AMAZING. Everything else was mediocre or worse. I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Don't expect a good time here. I don't like giving bad reviews, I'm in the industry. This was just way past the point of forgiveness. I was not happy at all. The only reason I gave one star is because I had to. The wings are worth five stars. Let's just say I felt a little mislead with the business description. We were looking for a hookah lounge that offered a full bar and a patio, when we got there we saw they had a nice patio with comfortable looking chairs however, as for the bar......they did in fact have one.... in the restaurant next door!!! We ended up sitting on the patio of the restaurant (which was very small and lacking any sort of ambience we hoped for) since that was the only place where we could both smoke hookah and enjoy drinks from the bar. The drinks were very over priced at $9 for a Vodka/Cran ( I mean I would expect this from a Scottsdale club). The one brightside to this experience was we found out the restaurant we were sitting at served excellent hummus... We definitely won't be going back for hookah anytime soon however it is possible we will come back to try more of the food. read more
