I had to scramble to find another escape room for our kids' birthday. Additionally, they only gave a partial refund. No escape room, no warning, partial refund. Since then, I have contacted them 3 times, and have heard absolutely nothing back. I also have not received my full refund. Do yourself a favor. Book an escape room experience with Escape Augusta or with Bangor Escape Rooms (which is where we ended up that day - awesome experience!) I cannot urge you enough to stay away from this place.

Easy to find, lots of parking behind the strip. Our clue master was very nice and a fun guy. I did the jail room and it hit everything I dislike in escape rooms. The worst thing for me is red herrings. One or two here and there is fine. But there are more red herrings than solutions. There are about 6 puzzles to solve and that's it. There's not much related to the theme or connecting puzzles to locks. You just have to guess what might go where. It is not intuitive at all. There's also no tech, which isn't necessarily bad. Escape 207, for example, does no to low tech rooms and they focus on nailing ambiance and storytelling so you don't realize there's no tech. But in the quickly evolving world of escape rooms, if you don't have the capacity of utilizing electronic or pressure plate/magnetized locks, you have to nail the full story experience or the room falls flat. If I happened to be in the area, I would consider trying another room, solely based on the pleasantries exchanged with the clue master. But I would not make a trip more than 30 minutes. Maine has a lot of escape options that are unfortunately a more solid experience overall.

We've come here as a family every year for, I think, the past 3 or 4 years now. I think there's…read morebeen a general decline in the quality of the puzzles, where the overwhelming majority of the "puzzles" now are just combo locks. Our escape room was two rooms (as far as I know). First room was a combo lock and keypad, which was straight-forward enough. Next room we walked into we faced a traditional logic grid puzzle (my least favorite), covered by plexiglass, and given a dry erase marker to use. But of course the marker doesn't work. Neither did the second marker. Neither did the third... After opening a few drawers in the room, we faced no less than six padlock combinations to solve, with numbers everywhere in the room and no clear indication as to what to solve first or which numbers may go with which combo. It was just a stew of combination locks. No logical association or flow, and none if it, that I could tell, really had anything to do with the "story". It was just "found some numbers. Is it this one? Nope. This one? Nope. This one..." Some of the combination puzzles were clever, but most required odd, obtuse logical leaps or were obfuscated by poor wording. Workers were decent enough, I suppose. I guess our expectations were for something beyond a combo lock practice kit. When I compare this experience to something like Boda Borg, which charges the same amount for 2 hours of puzzle rooms (or slightly more for 4 hours), the value discrepancy becomes apparent. In truth, I think our money would have been better spent had we gone out for a movie and some beers.

The Baker room is definitely not for kids. The staff were welcoming and appreciative that we chose their location to spend an hour of our day. They were very clear with rules and expectations. At times it felt a little over explained, but I am sure there are many parties that visit that really do require that level of explanation. When we entered the room, we were all immediately struck by the "smell" not sure what it was, but it definitely stuck with me for the rest of the day night. I am guessing it was from the items that were used as part of the fun. A lot of the stuff looked like antique items. The music that played while we were in the room, was a little irritating, but I'm sure some people like it. When I am problem solving I usually work in quiet. The attendant that was overseeing the room was kind and supportive as I am sure she watched us struggle. She put up messages on the screen letting us know if we were getting close. She was quick to respond when we requested for help. We didn't solve the problem, but it was fun and a good first experience of this type of entertainment. If you are in the area and want entertainment other than the movie theater next door, this is a fun place, but bring your problem solving skills!!

Tom Anderson is doing what he loves, and it's hard to not feel that infectious passion he has for the escape room culture when coming here. This business isn't housed in the flashy of buildings or a destination town, but that doesn't matter. What matters are the creative worlds you step into once the door behind you is closed. You'll forget where you are and you'll forget who you really are (am I bank robber? am I zombie apocalypse survivor?). The only thing that matters? Getting. Out. Annnnnd, even if you don't, there will still be a friendly smile escorting you out of your failed game and offering you some candy! As with every escape room I IMPLORE YOU to do this with friends. Escape Rooms usually only suck when you get thrown into doing them with people you don't really know (and can't yell at, push over, and literally fall down on top of, and still be cool with when the game's over). I've had the pleasure of doing a couple rooms here now, and - I think this is a sign of an exceptionally run business - I can't wait to come back. I can't wait to try every single new room one that opens up in the future! In talking with the owner, he seems very keen on doing innovative things that other rooms in Maine haven't gotten to (solo or couples games? puzzles that break down the fourth wall? live creatures? sensory stimulation? madness, I tell you! madness!) and that's what's going to continue to set Tom apart.

Escape Room 207 is a perfect place to get your toes wet in this immersive gaming experience. Tom (owner/operator) has created some amazing puzzles paired with great themes. It is clear that the puzzles are well thought out and have continuity (trust me - this matters). The rooms are well themed and have some unexpected surprises - including one that I haven't seen anywhere else. I'm looking forward to returning here in the future to try out his other rooms. Definitely worth the drive out of Portland proper. Check it out! You won't regret it.
