It was amazing! Both challenging and fun! Luckily we had two teens to help us out!! Lol! I highly recommend this place. The staff was great for adults and teens alike! It's a definite "To Do" in the mid coast area of Maine!

This is my very escape room. I had no idea what to expect. It was easy to book and pay online. There was just a small group of us. We were greeted by a friendly host who showed us all around and setup the story. It takes place in a cabin, as the name of the room suggests. There are cameras that allow for sight and sound to the operator of the room, who types responses on the monitor whenever you hear the door bell. The entrance door doesn't lock, just in case you need to make an escape to the restroom, as well as for safety. You must lock your cellphones and anything you wish into one of the provided locker with a key on a bracelet. It would have been helpful to keep my phone to do some of the extensive math. The room was setup nicely and had lots of different clues and lots of different locks to get thru. There seemed to be a lack of order tho. It seemed confusing as to what things were important and what wasn't. If it was not for the helpful prompter, I doubt we would have made it out in time. We were provided a lot of clues, especially if we were on the right track but not quite there. This was probably necessary as it was our first time. We defiantly had fun exploring and searching.

We had a great time with the family (older kids) on vacation completing the Getaway room.

The first Escape Room I went to did a good job of having several pre-written clues that we could ask for every 10 minutes.

Challenging, fun, and a great story to bring home! Monkey C Monkey Do is like a big outdoor version…read moreof the ropes course you can find in the South Portland mall. It works on a slightly different hook-in system, but doing it this way invites you to be present in what you are doing, and also adds another level of safety when you and buddy are looking out for each other. There are multiple levels of the ropes course, each more challenging than the other. The ground level is made for kids under 12 and it's a great intro to the latching system and "learning the ropes", so to speak. The very top level is black diamond level difficulty... I've seen a few kids brought to tears up there, and I imagine some adults have cried too. But there are a few levels in between that are a good balance of fun and challenging, while also very safe. Another great upside of buying the full ticket is the zip lines. So much fun! There are a few that you can access from the main course and a few that are nestled in the woods. I was terrified of zip lining before visiting and now I feel good about it. A lot of that is how skilled and thoughtful the whole staff is. They make you feel safe and also encourage you to face your fears and have a great time! Shout out to Bethel for running the whole show and creating a memorable experience for both kids and adults alike. They are only open for the summer and it's a good idea to make a reservation online, just in case it's a particularly busy day. Can't wait to return next year!

What FUN!!! They give you 2.5 hours which honestly goes by real fast, especially when the course is full of people and you need to wait for people ahead of you. Very professional and safe environment. Super friendly staff. Definitely worth the money and memories.

We came to Maine very VERY early season (March 20th-24th) and were looking for something to do…read more Most of the area is still in full 'pre season' mode, with many restaurants and services closed, especially during the week. We found the walking Food tour on Viator and jumped at it - and boy were we glad that we did! Because of the time of year, my wife and I were alone on the tour and as such got to spend around 3 hours with our guide, Ray Sapirstein. Putting aside Ray's obvious love for Portland and food in general, he was a charming guy - keeping us engaged and entertained with stories about the area for the entire duration of the tour. Ray is a PHD trained historian and, as such, was able to fill in a lot of color about the area, going beyond the 'food' aspects of the tour, describing the 'hilly roads' which were sand dunes were covered up to build out the city. Add to that the fact that he took us to several places that we NEVER would have found via googling for 'best ofs' and would have been a HUGE failure to miss! Andy's Old Port Pub - a neighborhood bar (don't call it a dive, though in my mind it qualifies). Spend some time chatting with Thomas, the owner, and Steve the bartender - and had what I can only describe as the single best haddock taco I've ever had in my life. Do not judge a book by it's cover: this place is AWESOME. Great craft beer tap list, and a warm and friendly environment. If I lived in the area, this would be my regular. From there we went to Gilbert's Chowder house right next door - Ray was again right: don't sleep on the seafood chili - it was RIDICULOUSLY amazing. After that we paid a visit to the Harbor Fish Market where we got to see the recent catches, and as Ray pointed out the 'transparency' of the thing: fish are cleaned and prepped for sale right where the customer can watch, and all fish are labeled as 'fresh' (with VERY few pre-frozen exceptions). This is also the place to go if you want to buy Maine swag. From there we proceeded to Rigby House, an unassuming 'coffee shop and workspace' that Ray promised us had nothing short of the best lobster roll in Maine: I've had some good lobster rolls so I can't quite commit to that, but the bread it was built on was FANTASTIC, baked locally from one of the bakeries rated tops in the nation right in Portland. This stop came with either 2 samplers or 1 full pour from their 20+ menu. Don't miss the blueberry ale. It's a rare treat and again, came from Ray's love of his city. From there, we visited Dean's Sweet shop for a couple of truffles and terrible jokes, and then Fiasco's Gelato to round up our day - try the lobster gelato, it's weird and not something I'd necessarily do again...but glad to have had the experience. The whoopie pie gelato was top notch and the blueberry was one of the best gelatos I've ever had. For a 3 hour tour, with all food included, we were certainly full and happy. The walk was short - I don't think we wandered more than a mile in total - and when we were showing signs of being "Help me I'm not from Maine cold", Ray took us into Grittys, another neighborhood bar just for a warm up.

Tom Anderson is doing what he loves, and it's hard to not feel that infectious passion he has for the escape room culture when coming here. This business isn't housed in the flashy of buildings or a destination town, but that doesn't matter. What matters are the creative worlds you step into once the door behind you is closed. You'll forget where you are and you'll forget who you really are (am I bank robber? am I zombie apocalypse survivor?). The only thing that matters? Getting. Out. Annnnnd, even if you don't, there will still be a friendly smile escorting you out of your failed game and offering you some candy! As with every escape room I IMPLORE YOU to do this with friends. Escape Rooms usually only suck when you get thrown into doing them with people you don't really know (and can't yell at, push over, and literally fall down on top of, and still be cool with when the game's over). I've had the pleasure of doing a couple rooms here now, and - I think this is a sign of an exceptionally run business - I can't wait to come back. I can't wait to try every single new room one that opens up in the future! In talking with the owner, he seems very keen on doing innovative things that other rooms in Maine haven't gotten to (solo or couples games? puzzles that break down the fourth wall? live creatures? sensory stimulation? madness, I tell you! madness!) and that's what's going to continue to set Tom apart.
