If you're a serious lifter or even remotely kind of serious about working out, this gym is not for you. This is mostly for women who need a babysitter and for families to take advantage of youth activities, and the swimming pool. It's insanely overcrowded with the machines just being sat on for hours at a time my people on their phones. That being said there's really not a lot of good gyms in Granbury in general your best bet is probably planet fitness. And that's kind of sad. read more

Pool is routinely closed due to broken heater, improper chemicals, or lack of life gaurds. It's the only option in Hood county.... I would go elsewhere is possible. The local staff is great. The problems originate from poor managagment in Ft Worth. The county should take this facility over. read more

I've always been a big fan of this YMCA because I feel like it has a lot of amenities in really great sized, clean building. The weight area is very busy so that can be a little frustrating at times since it can be intimidating to try to lift weights in front of that many people but there are plenty of treadmills and elliptical machines to use. Once you get further into the building you have your dressing rooms, your indoor pool, a gym and two group fitness rooms. There is also an outdoor pool that I see used quite often during the summer with families and kids. Iove the gym and all the peronal. i use the gym, pool and track, i have only been there a few times but am tryin to get there more often. it is always clean and the staff are always helpful. i cannot swim but use the pool for my back and leg exercises. I have been coming here since 2015. Love swimming laps and taking the water class with Judy. She is great. I've noticed this past year however, there are many broken things, that remain unfixed or repaired. That is too bad. Also, parking is becoming awful. I would love to see the pool area and locker room get more attention, as in fix or replace broken stuff. read more

Took a yoga class...asked the instructor to not single me out as I was out of shape, overweight and trying to get back in the swing.. of course, she called me out for not stretching out enough, while everyone looked...Im in my 70s...I told her it had been 40 yrs when she asked why cant you stretch more...I was horrified, nobody was very friendly, think they felt sorry for me...I never went back...:( read more

Love the facilities Never had an issue with anybody I work out with weights I take spin classes I've dabbled in the paddle ball area. I've seen people complaining that the free weight area gets crowded but that happens and all gyms that have decent equipment. read more

I'm very disappointed in my last interaction with management staff at the Hood County YMCA. I was manipulated, disrespected, falsely accused of violating the rules, and not given opportunity to explain my side. Moreover, I was singled-out and unjustly barred from working out at the facility which I am a dues paying member of. I was called into have a meeting by the Lisa (General Manager) and Holly (Associate Membership Manager). I've never as a member of any health club or gym facility been called to a meeting, and was quite confused as to the reason for it. I was told that they needed to discuss my membership with me. I inquired ad nauseam on what I was needed there for and finally I was advised that we were to discuss "member expectations." So that morning I walked in and the GM asked me to go into the office, I told her I was uncomfortable going into an office when I've no idea what it was pertaining to. I asked whether we could have the meeting a more public space such as in the gym floor or around it. She replied, "that's not how we have meetings here." I disagreed with her but reluctantly walked to the office. When I entered the office, I was received by a man in a suit with Holly, followed by Lisa. I asked if we could keep the door open and they would not allow this. So at this point I am feeling very very uncomfortable. I took a seat. The man introduced himself as a rep from HR corporate. I was extremely confused by his introduction as I am a member; not an employee (which I verbalized multiple times). He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to "discuss (my) personal training and was hoping that this meeting was to have a conversation with the intent to find an amicable solution." I shared that I was not providing personal training services at their facility. He interrupted and proceeded to say there is a perception of my doing so which is not acceptable. Perceptions are not facts: perceptions are perceptions. Only facts are facts. I again reiterated that I am not providing personal training services and told them directly that I was uncomfortable with this meeting. They continued to accuse me of personal training of other members and I continued to ask for clarification and evidence of such. They provided nothing other than stating they have observed me working out with other members. In the interest of transparency, I happen to be a personal trainer with over 25 years of experience. Notwithstanding, I was not providing personal training services to anyone. I shared with them that I was working out with my friends, as a member, with other fellow members--but that I was receiving no form of compensation. Hence, I was not providing personal training services to anyone. Despite my objections to the contrary, they continued to assume me of wrongdoing. They stated, "you're a trainer, a well known trainer, and you are perceived as such." To everyone reading this, I would ask, "So what?" Being a well-known trainer (if that is in fact what I am) and being perceived as such, doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Additionally, it doesn't equate to me violating anything. I reminded them numerous times that I will always be perceived as a trainer because of my skillset and education. WHAT I AM is not the issue. I happen to be a trainer. I happen to be a Filipino/ minority. I happen to be a Christian. Why does any of this matter? The true issue is: the management team is vehemently accusing me of performing personal training services, in violation of what is allowed at the facility. This is not supported by evidence or reality. Not only is this allegation unfounded and not true, it's inflammatory because I'm being accused of wrongdoing. YMCA, I'm a member, not an employee, and you don't get to bully me for working out with other members. I shared that as a member, I'd been feeling singled out and spyed upon through their inquiries to other members asking whether I was providing personal training services.  If you have to go around inappropriately involving members and asking whether I've been providing personal training services, you have no facts or evidence to substantiate your claim.  The meeting became quite unproductive.  When they were unable to share a reasonable explanation to my questions, they told me that the solution is a "cooling down period."  I inquired as to what that meant, to which I didn't receive clarification. Finally I said, "let's be clear and not not sugarcoat this, you're banning me from the Y."  The HR rep said, "Yes." Meeting over.  They told me that I am not a contributing member to this community and that I am not promoting a healthy atmosphere.  I have been a paying member of the YMCA, just like I have been a paying member of numerous gyms across the country in the past.  I have never in my life seen (or been treated with) such disrespect, vindictiveness, and hypocrisy in all the facilities I've been a member of. read more

It closes much too early everyday and it's not really for anyone other then Mother's who want child care.

I had only been there a month, I got swim lessons for my sons, and the confirmation they sent me was incorrect (as well as the cost). So, I needed to set dates etc. That was a hassle on it's own. Just to schedule swim lessons. Then, I finally decided to just get a refund so I can schedule it again later. They said, no Problem. 4 days later, no refund, so I called. " Okay, I will tell them." I also left a message. NOTHING.... I continued to email, and call... They blamed other people, and passed it off, over and over. I AM DONE WITH THEM. Here it is a month later, and still no refund. I have had to contact my bank to pull it back. $150 is alot of money to be holding from your customer. Very disappointing since i really wanted to continue there. But this type of thing lacks professionalism and I don't trust them with my money any longer. read more

I absolutely LOVE this gym! It's so big and so nice! I've been going for a few weeks now. My 10yo, 13yo, my husband and myself all use the gym. My 13yo likes going after school and using the basketball court with his buddies. I also take my 4yo 90% of the time I go and she doesn't even look back when I drop her off with the childcare personnel. Great system for signing her in and she has gotten to do a little yoga class, walked the upstairs track and played on their outdoor playground all while she is in childcare! I have zero complaints. I usually take spin class and the weight class and they are phenomenal but I have taken a few other classes and they are great too. The instructors are great and motivating. My family of 5 (including the childcare which we use A LOT) is only 70$/month! We were paying so much more at another gym (we moved from out of state) which didn't even compare to the YMCA. We haven't used the outside water park area yet but the kids can't wait to use it lol great gym, highly recommend!! read more
