I can't comment on the work, but I had a very poor customer service experience with this company. I…read morecontacted them, explained what I wanted done and scheduled an appointment. I found them on a search site, and saw that there was a reasonable service fee to come out for an estimate. I had to cancel the appointment due to other work being done at the house that took longer than expected. I called recently and rescheduled the appointment. Again I explained what I wanted done, and it seemed the guy understood what I was asking. I scheduled an appointment for today at noon. I asked the price of the service call, and he told me they did not charge a service call. Okay great...I was sure I saw a small service fee initially, but no fee works too. I just received a call this morning from a guy at XH asking what I wanted done. I was confused, because I assumed professionals took notes on these things. I explained again what I wanted, and after being told in the previous conversation that they needed to come out for an estimate, today he rattled off a price of $650 without seeing anything. I was shocked, because I had a couple other estimates for less than a third of the cost, but they were booked way out, and I wanted this done soon. So I mentioned this to the guy, and he said yes you should go with that, because that's what we charge just to come out. I said, "what is your charge for coming out...the $200 I was quoted by the other guys?" There is no $200 dollar service charge listed anywhere on their website, I was told there was no service charge when I scheduled the appointment, and no electrician is charging $200 for a service call. I don't know why this guy or this company decided they didn't want my business, but clearly that was the case. He correctly expected me to say no thanks when he quoted me a price of $650. I will assume I dodged a bullet on this one.

In mid-January 2019, I contacted Bill, owner of WJP Contracting, and he seemed pleasant & friendly…read more When he phoned me back he was very conversational and the call lasted well over 90 minutes. I needed a ton of work on my 100-yr old home, including remodeling of 4 bathrooms and a kitchen, and interior & exterior painting to name just some. During the call, he spent a long time telling me about himself and his work, AND his work ethic. He admitted he was relatively new to contracting other than painting, but seemed to have a good work philosophy and, from his photos posted online, he appeared to be competent in remodeling. After being on the phone with him for nearly two hours, I believed him to be very professional and obviously interested in my $100,000.00 plus worth of work. We set up a date for an estimate for exactly one week later on Saturday 01/19/19, which was a long holiday weekend. I already had plans for the long holiday weekend, but cancelled them to accomodate Bill's schedule, since my remodeling was more important to me than a long weekend away. Bill arrived at my home and had me take him through my ENTIRE home from top to bottom, again in full detail, and he took measurements and made notes. It was very time consuming and exhausting for me. He did seem green and not seasoned in his approach, but I am a seasoned, formally educated, professional, NKBA Kitchen & Bath designer, so I was not worried. I did not need planning or design help, just someone who could competently execute the physical work I needed done. We seemed to get along great, which was also a huge plus. Our entire meeting was nothing but pleasant and cordial. There were no issues of any kind. We had started in my attic looking at a bathroom and several other projects, and after a few hours, we had made it through my 2nd floor projects, and then finally to my first floor kitchen. At that point, Bill said that he could not look at the kitchen and had to leave to go home to take his wife to Saturday 4pm mass. That was no problem for me, and I told him that he already had more than enough estimating to do with what we had already discussed. He left promising to email my estimate within 3 days. He also suggested he could come back two days later on Monday to look at just the kitchen. This idea did not appeal to me since I had already spent one entire day of my weekend for his estimate and I did not have time to sacrifice a second day of my time. I told him I would need to think about it and to check my calendar and would let him know later that same day. During his visit, he told me his wife was pregnant with child #3 and so he really wanted/needed my business. And, I was happy to give it to him, if the numbers worked out. Before he left, he double checked my email address and he again promised me emailed estimates within 3 days. About an hour later, I texted him to thank him for his time and I included my email address so he would have it handy on his phone to forward the estimates. I also very nicely explained why Monday would not work for me and I told him we could look at the kitchen another time. To this day, 08/25/20, I never received any estimates, never heard from him again, and he never responded to any of my subsequent texts. He simply and intentionally ghosted me. This guy had been recommended for painting/remodeling by a woman on Nextdoor claiming to be a client raving about his work. In the end, it turned out that she was actually a long-time personal friend of his trying to drum up business for him. He wasted tons of my time on the phone, then wasted an entire day of my time, as well as ruining my entire long holiday weekend supposedly coming to my home for an estimate. Not to mention his trudging through every inch of my home. ...Seriously??? This guy is a 100% unprofessional and incompetent jerk. Apparently going to church has done nothing to make him act like a decent human being. Was he pouting and petulant because I chose to postpone the kitchen estimate??? If so, if he really so badly needed to discuss my kitchen project so urgently, then he always had the option of going to any of the other masses that Saturday or Sunday instead and could have easily stayed another 15 minutes to discuss the kitchen then while he was already at my home. This guy does not even deserve the one star required to post this review. He is a giant loser!!!! Even if, for whatever reason, you decide you don't want the work, at least be man enough and have the professionalism, decency, and basic courtesy to send a one sentence text and tell me that. He and the bimbo who recommended him to thousands of Nextdoor readers both totally suck!!!! Btw, if this is how he behaves before he gets your money, just imagine how he'd act after he gets your cash. And who knows what innocent event might set him off to ghost you too. Seriously, don't waste your valuable time with this slug.

He had great ideas and with only a couple minor items, we let him run with the project. The finished bathroom turned out terrific. We added a few small additional projects to the list as we quickly developed confidence with the quality of his work. Very accommodating and got all the items completed by the deadline we were looking at to get the house on the market. I would absolutely use Bill again if I had a need arise an would highly recommend him to others.
