My initial interactions with Dr. Sirius were positive, and I developed a professional relationship with him due to his reputation as a prominent and respected dentist in the field, as well as my status as a police officer. However, I was disappointed to discover that Dr. Sirius informed me that the amount of work I required might exceed my dental coverage, which could result in additional expenses. Despite expressing my concern about surpassing my dental coverage, his team continued to schedule appointments for me to receive treatment, even though it was clear that I had surpassed my limit. This ultimately resulted in my incurring a debt of over $700, which left me feeling disheartened. I believe that Dr. Sirius and his team had the responsibility to inform me clearly and transparently that my upcoming procedure would not be covered by my insurance. As a result, I was left feeling as if I did not matter to the practice, and I now have a new dentist who prioritizes open communication and always informs me if a procedure will be covered by my insurance before treatment. It is essential for dental practices to prioritize the well-being and satisfaction of their patients above all else, and I would strongly discourage anyone from seeking treatment with a dental provider who prioritizes insurance coverage over the needs of their patients. Initially, I lived & worked nearby, and I started Invisalign a couple years later in 2022. I paid thousands in full upfront. This past year, I moved to be closer to my new job in College Park resulting in a longer commute. I've always received great feedback regarding how my teeth are shifting, but I got trays mixed up towards the end of the summer while traveling, which delayed my schedule. I apologized for this. My work schedule + my job now being an hour away contributed to having to reschedule some appointments (in advance). Due to this, I've observed an attitude from their receptionist. There was an instance where I had an urgent work meeting, and I called in advance to reschedule & the receptionist just passive-aggressively chuckled... I'm not sure if this is the same woman who greets me when I arrive, but the receptionist who does is not friendly. I've had to say something to be greeted, and the interaction is dismissive. For my last visit, I sensed agitation during my appointment, which was disheartening since I've been a patient for so long. This is likely because the practice may want to wrap up my treatment since I've already paid in full & I'm so close to being done. Keep in mind, my deadline to complete Invisalign is 2027, but of course, I'd like to wrap up my treatment before that point. The practice may have gotten impatient due to my work schedule/commute, so I decided to then find another practice near me to transfer my treatment there. After seeing two Invisalign doctors for consultations, I was quoted additional thousands to transfer treatment. I reached out to Peartree to figure out the transfer process. I expressed to the practice via email my concerns & why I was exploring another provider. I expressed that I would ideally like to finish the treatment there, but that I also don't want to sense agitation when scheduling & arriving for visits. I was flat out IGNORED. I followed up with a question regarding how many trays I have left, which I was responded to quickly without acknowledgment of the concerns I expressed in my previous email to him. I responded stating that I will absolutely be changing doctors at this point because of my concerns being dismissed & for the transfer documentation to please be forwarded via email. I received a fast response with the form (again not acknowledging my email with concerns). The fact that I am switching Invisalign providers & will be paying additional thousands out of pocket with a new doctor rather than finishing up at Peartree due to poor customer service (when I'm so close to being done) is unfortunate... But this shows how disappointed I am in my experience at this practice as a long-term patient. It's apparent that the practice handles concerns by simply ignoring them, so they go away... especially, when the patient has already paid. Very unfortunate... I do not recommend.

My only two gripes are the following: 1) I believe I filled out all the forms online before arriving, but those were somehow lost and I had to use their iPad to fill them out again. It took maybe 20 mins in total, and there's a lot of info to provide on your first visit. Maybe check on the online process to see what broke and why my info didn't come through? 2) I think someone may have called out sick that day on their staff, as it appeared that they were double booked throughout the AM. After being seated in the back, I had to wait 20-30 mins for a dental assistant to come back and do my cleaning. It was worth the wait as she did one of the best and most in-depth cleanings of my life, so please give her a raise! That being said, had I known ya'll were double booked in the AM, I might have come in a bit later than scheduled if I knew that morning of the pending delay. They do not do well at supporting patients with sensory issues or dental anxiety, or conditions like TMJ that make dental visits difficult. With new patients they are kinder, but with every visit I have made they have become less supportive and less accommodating. My last cleaning was extremely unpleasant and I was shamed into not taking breaks over the course of multiple procedures and fittings even though holding my jaw open causes my TMJ to flare. Then there's the high-pressure upselling. For several years, the dentists and hygienists at this practice have been trying to get me to buy a dental-grade night guard out of pocket, even though I had an over-the-counter one I had been happy with. I finally agreed because they told me it would help my gums and that I would face severe consequences if I did not "make the investment." I had to pay $750 (!!!) out of pocket. When the night guard arrived, it was so bulky and uncomfortable that I could not get a good night's sleep in it and I woke in the morning with severe jaw pain on both sides of my jaw. I went back to have it adjusted and suddenly I was being told that having a night guard means sleeping with your mouth open and accepting dry mouth, that jaw pain often gets worse at first, and that I would have to accept some bad sleep in order to become accustomed to the night guard. I cannot stress enough that this was NOT disclosed to me prior to when I made the purchase. Since the practice knew about my sensory and dental anxiety issues, I feel strongly that they should have talked to me about what the night guard would be like before pushing me to buy it. When I explained the above, the practice offered me only a partial refund, which would mean that I spent hundreds of dollars on nothing. I feel my trust was taken advantage of and I would encourage others to look for a different practice.

This dentist was the first I saw as an adult out of college so the pain after a cleaning is one reason (among others) I now require nitrous. Regarding availability, I tried to reschedule my appointment before I moved at the end of 2015 but they were scheduling for at least 3 months out. I didn't know what a reasonable cost for cleanings was, but now that I have been in CA and have insurance, the cost I have paid with this practice ($220?) seems high. In my opinion, nothing about the practice really justified the cost or difficulty scheduling - especially since they don't have nitrous for anxious patients like me.
