The front desk people are friendly and professional. When I had an emergency with a tooth splitting painfully, they saw me that very day. Dr. Parent is a Superstar. The best-reviewed offices do not take new patients, and the ones who do have very polarized reviews. And Yelp Reviews are often out of date for new dentists (in old offices). So I am thrilled to find this office in Medford (easy, free garage parking). It's worth driving 15 min. The office staff (Beth) was terrific - quick, efficient, courteous, helpful - I found an appointment to do a filling to fix chips within the week. She helped to check insurance. She reminded me to transfer X-rays. And on the day of the appointment, Dr. Qu was great. He is honest, direct, efficient, and does not "up-sell" anything. His work is very meticulous and he has "steady hands" if you know what I mean when it comes to dentistry. The filling (on the front teeth) are better than any I've had in this area. The billing was immediate, clear, and I decided to switch to this office after the first visit, even though it takes 15 min longer to get to. In case you are interested, the way to properly pronounce Dr. Qu (the office just call him Dr. Q to spare people the trouble) is a combination of the CH in "Cheese" and REE in "Tree" - Ch-Ree. However, if you just say "Dr. Tree", you are already about 80% close to the original pronunciation - not bad at all! And for anyone who might wonder but are embarassed to ask, Dr. Qu speaks perfect/native English. So don't let that hold you up.

My dental technician (Laura) was wonderful and answered all my questions in detail, even going through my X-rays to show me what she found. Dr. Fang was also very clear, thorough, and got through my exam in no time. There was no funny business trying to sell me a procedure that I don't need. They were just too nice, too professional, and too thorough to not have a great review on Yelp. Aside from the cool staff, comfortable and clean office atmosphere, and great music they had playing, the staff at Stuparich & Nouel Dental Associates are really on top of their game. There are very few dentist who will talk to you about oral care and it's importance holistically. Also, they were very upfront about what was worth spending money on, and what wasn't. IE: "Zoom Whitening is faster, but won't get your teeth any whiter." I totally appreciated the honesty and now are much more likely to spend the money when they DO recommend it. Another thing that was really refreshing? Laughter in the office. They really seem to like working with each other and that positive energy is contagious.

When you pay cash or have private insurance, they treat you like royalty. The moment you switch to MassHealth, the tone completely changes. The warmth disappears, appointments become difficult, and suddenly you're made to feel like a burden instead of a patient. After my father passed away, I missed one appointment -- and even after providing proof of his death, they still charged me $50. When I refused to pay on principle, they decided to "part ways" with my entire family. That says everything about their values. What really turned my stomach was that the staff and even the dentist personally spoke to me about other patients in extremely unprofessional ways -- mocking people's dental problems and making degrading comments about those who couldn't afford certain treatments. That's not just unethical, it's a complete breach of patient trust and privacy. They once pretended they no longer accepted MassHealth, but when I later called to confirm, the receptionist said they absolutely still do. That kind of dishonesty tells you all you need to know about their character. This office built a fortune on loyal patients and referrals, then turned around and disrespected the very people who helped them grow. They value money over integrity, and image over compassion.
