For over 10 years, I have been a patient of Dr. Foote and up to this week, I have not had any problems or complaints over the care I have received from the practice. However, that all changed and went South in a New York minute.
Earlier this year, my Mom was in the process of changing primary care physicians. Dr. Foote was recommended by Yours Truly. The Office Mgr named Karen told us the practice was accepting new patients. Mom sent in her paperwork but didn't get a reply. Then on April Fool's Day, she called Dr. Foote's office and she was told the following: "You're not on the books; you're not coming here. We heard you had a chance to see two other doctors about 2 years ago, and you cancelled the appointments."
The Office Mgr wouldn't let my Mom explain the circumstances. It was a surprise to me to hear there was note on her application "Please do not accept" because of missed appointments, etc. What was equally surprising was how she was summarily dismissed over the phone, when my mother tried to explain the circumstances behind those so-called missed appointments. It took me 20 minutes to get my mom calmed down from her crying. Everyone should have an opportunity to be heard and for my mother to be treated so callously was over the top.
It was unacceptable, especially the way my mother was treated. She is elderly and in frail health. The last thing my mother needs, at this point in her life, is dealing with someone with an attitude, particularly when her health and well-being are supposed to be the main concern of a medical practice.
Needless to say, the actions of the vengeful Office Mgr cost this medical practice two patients! No one mistreats my family and gets away scot-free!
