We pull up next to a little place in town that look like someone's home decorated for Halloween. It is quite charming. The little stone fence around the place with an iron gate is so nice. With a large shade tree up front and a large porch one could see themselves hanging out there a while. We walk in to a beautiful stout staircase embellished with a wonderful witch's hat very appropriate for the upcoming holiday. The downstairs rooms are filled with charming dinette sets with plenty of room for a large crowd. The character of the home still shows in the home decor with stately windows trimmed in thick dark wood but covered in dainty lace curtains. In the back, or side door is the counter and kitchen with bathrooms. Carefully wrapped generous sized goodies of Krispie and brownie treats adorned around the register with the refrigerator case packed with containers full of cake of all pleasures. Lunch is served Monday thru Friday from 11am-2pm and Desserts from 2pm-4pm. Leaving catering for the weekends. Hoping this little place does so well they must be open more hours to fit us all in! Menu combo for the day was soup and sandwich with choices of taco soup or potato soup. We had heard such rave reviews about the taco we all got a bowl. Sandwich choices were chicken salad, club, BLT, pimento or grilled chicken. I went for the club. Peering into the cold case like a child I could not decide my sweet piece of cake to indulge on. I narrowed down and got coconut creme and man it did not disappoint!! Pepsi soda fountain drinks are offered with tea options: Southern Sweet or Northern Unsweet. So Cute We found a table for our group and settled in. The taco soup really hit the spot. It gave a "chili" warming feel with new notes of flavor to not bore. My club was fresh, loaded with meat with a slight leave behind flavor of tangy Miracle Whip that is always pleasing. Everyone else really enjoyed their options as well. I could not wait to dig into the coconut creme having to have a bite less than half way through my meal. The sweet, moist, cake with the delightful creme were divine! It was like dancing on my taste buds. I have not had a coconut cake like that since the Easter's of my childhood when Grandma made her yearly coconut cakes that we all fought over. One of my companions detesting coconut intrigued with my reaction agreed to try and declared she loved it! We were very satisfied after our meal, our great company of each other in such a pleasant place. Will return every time I am here for lunchtime ... or dessert!
