I'm personally not a huge reader, but I'm sure this will be great for a book lover. When you go in, there are lockers on the side where you haven't got a choice but to lock your bags and jackets away. I was told pictures are allowed (though 1 said yes, the other said no, and had a quick discussion about it). The area that I did go into, was a bit smaller but still neat to look at, though I think there's a much bigger / lavish area. Also, I was told that there was a section which just looks beautiful (like the Harry Potter library, as he said!). There was a section where it looked like you can only enter with a keycard. It was really quiet in the library, and i really regret NOT asking, as I'm sure what was behind the door was this harry potter like reading room and library that I was looking for! Maybe if you ask nicely, you can take a peek? So, NO, i didn't get to see the room of these pics that I've posted up. Not sure how you get in there as I mentioned, it looked as if you need special permission to be in there. Apparently, there are lots of original works housed at this library, including plays. For a £25 membership, you can BORROW these original works. Kinda crazy!!! I'm giving it 5 stars, because, I know the beautiful room is hiding within, maybe another visitor can check it out and see if they've made it behind the doors to that beautiful library room?!

The reason I have chosen this library to write about is because of the architecture. The stone carvings around the outside staircase are breathtakingly ornate and in good condition. They contain mythical gargoyle/falcon type creatures breathing reams of material which link the archways. There are some really ugly buildings in Armley but like this library there are also some beautiful ones, the prison is another example.

A huge stock of books, CDs, DVDs, music and other learning media is readily available. If you cannot find what you are looking for, helpful staff are usually around or you can help yourself at one of the public computer terminals. Self service checkout points can speed up your exit if the library is full and returns can be effected in the same way.

She really knows her stuff, is incredibly switched on, and is so efficient that it makes all the others look like Mickey Mouse outfits in comparison. If you're a regular Ebayer, then they'll offer a 'dump and run' type service - just leave your parcels and when it's quiet they'll process them all for you, and you can make arrangements for payment to suit. This saves massive queues building up, and is a massive bonus to those of us who hate turning up with a huge bag of parcels. Road tax is available, and it is nice not to have to queue for ages to get it! The service is exceptional - very friendly and personal, and once she knows who you are, Sue has an unbelievable ability to remember everything you tell her! She went through a rather rough time a couple of years ago, but still the Post Office carried on without a hitch - a true testament to Sue's professionalism. Sadly I've moved away from the area but still call in with my post if I can. Please support this local PO if you can at all - they really do work hard and are at the very heart of the village community. Many from Brigg and the surrounding villages make the journey, and it is worth the extra couple of miles.

SHEFFIELD CANAL BASIN has had a great face lift within the last ten years. It now consists of…read moremodern lock-up shops selling mostly small gifts that promote Sheffield, highrise office blocks, the Sheffield Hilton Hotel, a few bars and lots of eating establishments - or if you prefer the older term; Cafes. The canal itself has had a clean out. Prior to this it was a dumping ground for anything you wanted to burry under water, the water itself used to be covered in a thick layer of oil, but luckily those days are now gone. The canal is clean, so clean in fact that if you go and stand under the shade of the few nearby bridges that cross over the canal you can actually see the large fish that swim in the canal. I'm sorry, I don't know much about fish so I cannot tell you what breed of fish they are. For anyone who is interested in boats or canal barges there is lots of these moored at the canal basin. Some of the barges are actually lived on throughout the year, so please when visitting respect the barge owners' privacy. The Sheffield Canal was originally created to carry barges filled with Steel Goods from Sheffield to the docks in Hull by joining up with the South Yorkshire Navigational Canal, which joined up to the River Trent and via the Trent into the River Humber. Sheffield Canal Basin is well worth a day trip.
