I called yesterday to make an appointment (it's by appointment only during COVID). I spoke with Christy and let her know that I was going to need to purchase countertops, but that what I really needed to see was the Wellborn Cabinets they carry. I already have a builder who contracts with a Wellborn distributor (or something like that?), so I won't be purchasing cabinets there, and totally understand if they are less than thrilled for me to take time in their studio. Christy was gracious and invited me to come anyway. She did a wonderful job of showing me the cabinets so that I could see colors and textures for myself before committing to something in my new build. I was able to look at several options and compare colors against each other. It was perfect!
I was also able to look at several quartz countertop samples, against the cabinets I was interested in. The only issue was that they don't have per square foot pricing available, which I found very disconcerting. In the past when I've met with granite/quartz dealers they have been able to steer me toward options in different price ranges. This helped me focus on what was affordable to me and make an educated buy. At HomeSource they can't really even tell you price range, and what would be most expensive.
In the end I'll probably send my kitchen design over and get quotes on my top three options, but because I'm flying blind I'll really feel like I need to also speak with some other dealers/fabricators as well so that I know I'm getting the best deal. It's too bad, really - it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to know price ranges, and that would make the process a whole lot easier. I'm not sure what the strategy is behind that, but it doesn't create the most delightful customer experience. Christy was lovely though, and very thoughtful and helpful. I'll try to give them my business, but that one piece of the puzzle just doesn't help with customer loyalty. read more
