If you live in Odessa, you've heard of Homemade Wines and you know they just opened their second location in the downtown area because it is all anyone can talk about! We have been dying to go for a date night and gave into our urges tonight! First of all, we went at peak time on a Friday night when they clearly had holiday parties and lots of reservations going on. They sat us at the bar but the service was fast and always on top of things! They had plenty of time to answer questions and assist us! Everyone gets two free samples of wine (which are decent sizes btw). We tried Tres Locos, Pumpjack Chocolate, Driller's Moscato (our ultimate favorite) and Cabana Daze. They were all fantastic! For food, the husband ordered the pepperoni flatbread and I got the chicken cran-pecan sandwich with potato salad. Guys, the potato salad is a MUST! It will blow your mind!!! Our bill was well under $40 - he did a glass of Driller's Moscato but I just did the tasting - and it was an incredible night out with fantastic service and ambiance! I'm not a drinker and never a "bar" type person but this place is classy with incredible food. It doesn't even need the wine that makes it Homemade Wines to be special! MAKE SURE TO EAT THE LOBSTER ROLLS ON FRIDAY DURING LENT!!!!!!! We had the lobster-Mac and cheese, lobster rolls, loaded potato soup, and tomato bisque. ALL WERE EXCELLENT. My wife had a frozen peach wine slush which was excellent as well!! Their wines are truly amazing, with tons of selections, capable of pleasing the masses to perfection. Food and wine are all homemade right here in Odessa. Service was incredible, restaurant was EXTREMELY clean, with a terrific atmosphere. This is one of my favorite places to come + hangout for a glass of wine (my fav is the Peach wine slush) . The atmosphere is beyond welcoming + laid back. The wine is all homemade right here in Odessa + the staff majority family, they're beyond nice (Brent is probably my fav, but John is a close runner up) they take pride in their wine + are knowledgeable beyond years, they make it apparent to get to know each + everyone of their customers! Let me first state the wine in itself is wonderful. Absolutely delicious. The service on the other hand I don't know how to say it couldn't be worse. It was not crowded whatsoever but no one wanted to approach us when we sat down. Walked to the counter was told we would get service, happened about 10 min later. Ordered a case, 12 bottles, immediately brought the check for it so we paid.. never were we told they got things together or appreciated or order. After asking whom I believe was the manager, one of the whopping two employees working, finally said here its sitting over there. Still absolutely no help or anything. So my review. . Terrible service and employees but the wine is excellent. Sucks spending money on people you'd rather not suport. I like to know my business is appreciated.
